In a direct democracy, the citizens of a nation have a say in public affairs and are allowed to voice their opinion. Decisions are made publically by a popular vote or by a popular assembly.
Every individual citizen of a nation has an equal voice in public issues and affairs.
Once a decision is made about an affair or issue, all citizens support the decision.

In a unitary system of government, power is centralized in the central/national government.
A unitary system encourages national unity. National unity is achieved by having every part of a country obey the exact same rules and laws.
