There are as many different types of dog owners as there are different dogs. Almost everybody wants to own a pet, but not everyone has what it takes to deal with the responsibility that comes with it. There are so many owners who will treat pets as one of their own children, but there are just as many owners who won’t give a second thought about their pet. Some owners will go above and beyond for their pets just to make sure their animals are happy; some owners will feed their animals meals before anyone else in the house gets to eat. Unfortunately, not every person out there is good and will take the time to take care of their animal. There are many different varieties of dog owners out there, a few being obsessed, dedicated athletes, and irresponsible dog owners.
The dog owners who are borderline obsessed with their pet don’t really seem to acknowledge how strange it is that they are treating their animal better than they would treat family members or even other human beings. These animals receive special treatment by their owners no matter where they go. This special treatment can consist of many things, one being that they are fed human food more often than dog food and even are hand-fed at times. For example, my grandmother loved her dogs more than anyone I have ever witnessed. She would go out of her way just to cook something for them, always making sure that they were fed before anyone else got to eat. There are some dog owners who will even let their pet sleep in the same bed with them and make their partner move for their pet or, ultimately, sleep somewhere else.
Another privilege that these animals have is getting to ride “shotgun” in the vehicle while other people are made to sit somewhere else. These owners let the...

...are loyal companions and deserve the same amount of loyalty and love back. It’s hard to fathom how one can be so cruel to an innocent animal with no reason. Everyone is quick to blame the dog when a child is bitten, or when the dog is loud and becomes a nuisance to the neighborhood when in reality, the owner is the real problem. There’s no real solution to the issue of dogs being neglected, but it should be brought to people’s attention that if you are not capable of being responsible then you should not be allowed to have the privilege of owning a dog. All dogs really want is attention and love and it’s absolutely heartbreaking that people can even think about harming a dog in any way other than smothering them with affection. We should think about putting the owners on a leash instead of the dogs because I think that their irresponsibility is the real danger here.
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to have and maintain a pet? Burkhard Bilger, the author of “The Last Meow”, explains how Americans spend a lot of money on their pets and that people's “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control. An observation I have made is that in many movies dogs are treated very well. When I was younger, I watched a movie called Bratz and one character would always have her dog inside a dog purse and they would even get manicures and pedicures together. The dog always had shiny clothes on and it was always very clean. Therefore, I agree with Bilger's argument that Americans “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control.
Are these dogs misunderstood? In reality a dog is a reflection of its human, they see you as a pack leader they are who you raise them to be no matter the breed. If you neglect your puppy by chaining them up outside their whole life or keep them in
Why do owner's treat pets as humans? Within Emilia Di Luca's essay The Pet Owner's Burden Di Luca asks this pondering question. She begins by telling one of her own experiences of treating her dog Amber as a human. Throughout the essay Di Luca provides the reader with several different piece of evidence that would prove why people should not treat pets as humans which she concludes with. In my opinion, Di Luca provides too much information overwhelming the reader. Di Luca attempts to give the reader enough evidence to support her conclusion but fails by supporting her argument from only one side. Within each piece of evidence Di Luca give such as, people being imperialists, narcissists, mothers, and consumers to their
Dogs have impacted the lives of 44% of American families and homes. People use dogs for much more than just a family friend. Dogs are used for special needs, assisting police, and hunting and tracking. Dogs should be appreciated and never taught to fight or be neglected. Dog fighting is unethical because man’s best friend shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.
Pets can have real jobs like people. Dogs-rescuers save lives together with people. For instance, when people get in appalling avalanches courageous dogs-rescuers help to find them. Also, some breeds of dogs, e.g. sheep dog, badger-dog, labrador, spaniel, and so on, serve at customs. More than that, they can find illegal things like drugs, dangerous weapons, or explosive stuff. What’s more, they help to control order and assist in avoiding terrible acts of terrorism. Some people literally can't live without pets. For example, blind people need guide-dogs to move around their homes. The connection between such masters and their pets becomes really strong and truly close and a person gets pet-dependent in this case. Enthusiastic owners devote their life to pets. They try to make the best for them and like to take part in exhibitions. Pet's clothes, food, houses, brushes take on special value for
...es to all of the other dogs in the world. In a country proud of our diversity and freedoms, we should be granting dogs the same lives. They deserve that diversity in what breeds they are mixed with and the freedom of a life outside of the bars in a shelter. Do your part and give a dog the life it deserves.
Owners show their lack of knowledge by misconceiving the dog’s actions as excitement instead of an indication for aggressive tendencies. Its disheartening to witness dogs being victims of neglect by owners. All animals bestow unconditional love and deserve the same in return. Owners are like adopted parents and must make certain that the animal is disciplined at a young age so that they mature into healthy and productive adults. This can be done by set...
If I said that there is someone on this earth who loves you more than they love themselves, wouldn’t you want to meet them? A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself (Dog Quotes, n.d.). While most owners are aware of the amount of joy and laughter dogs bring to them and their family, they are unaware that their dogs love them unconditionally and can help them have better lives. They’re not just furry friends that gives people companionship; there are a number of proven health benefits for people.
Having a dog can be a great experience for people who enjoy their company. These animals are usually friendly and active; they are intelligent and can develop a strong relationship with their owners based on love and care. However, having dogs is a big responsibility for the person who owns them, because they are animals, so they cannot support themselves. Dogs need someone who can feed them, give them love, and someone who can help them exercise. Moreover, these animals need big spaces in order to run and develop their muscles, so the owner has to know that he needs to take a walk with the dog several times a day.
Should animals have to go through pain and suffering? Should they have to go without food and/or water? The answer is no. Animal abuse happens everyday and it happens because people are barbarous or because they don’t know how to take the best care of an animal that they have. Whatever the reason it’s still not right and will never be okay. This paper will cover a brief history of animal abuse, the statistics, the signs of animal abuse, and what can be done to stop animal abuse. Animal abuse needs to end for the animals that can’t speak for themselves.
The prevalence of pet ownership in America has more than tripled during the last several decades, rising from 67 million households during the 1970s to 164 million households in 2012 (Human Society, 2014). The conscious decision by 62 percent of American households to own at least one pet represents a long-term commitment of time, money, and dedication to the needs of a wholly dependent entity. The basic needs for all pets, inclusive of companion animals and farm animals, include several provisions. These provisions include access to safe, clean drinking water at all times, access to high quality food commensurate to the weight of the animal, and adequate shelter from excesses of heat and cold (Agape, 2014). Beyond the life-essential basic needs of animals lay commonly accepted requisites that define responsible pet ownership. These requisites or minimal standards of care include access to veterinary care, access to exercise, and freedom from physical harm.
In conclusion, science shows that dog’s interaction with humans makes them more than just pets because dogs interact like human children and canines assist in various forms of human therapy. For most people who own a dog, the title of man’s best friend given to a canine is a well-deserved name earned over the centuries for this member of their family.
Dogs are magnificent creatures, and when raised correctly, are adorable, loyal, loving animals. However it takes a lot of time, energy, and commitment to make sure that dogs are raised correctly. These animals have a lot of the same requirements that a human child needs. They also act as a child would. A new dog owner would do well to consider these points before they take on the responsibility of raising one of these incredible creatures.
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
over 1,800 cases of animal cruelty in the past year because of the lack of animals having rights revealed in the media, with 64.5% involving dogs, 18% involving cats and the other 25% involving other animals. They should have rights because they have feelings, they are valuable, and they mean a lot to some families to the point where they’re considered to be a part of the family. Most importantly, humans are also animals, So think about how you would feel if someone had full control over you or someone you loved and did things to you that you didn’t enjoy or like. You have to think about their world from their standpoint. Yes, they are animals but they should not be less valued just because they are different from humans.
