The attack on Pearl Harbor reminds me of 9/11. I’m reminded of 9/11 because they have a few similarities. One similarity is both attacks were unprovoked, war wasn’t declared on the US. The targets were different for the two of the events. In 9/11, World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the White House were targeted. In both events, thousands of lives were lost. In this paper I will discuss the similarities between what happened in the September 11th attack in 2002 and the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. I will describe the Presidential responses to these attacks, as well as investigate the roles that class, culture, religion, and notions of superiority played in these attacks on the United States. Both of these events were undeniably tragic because of how many lives were cost and how surprising it was to everyone at that time. But there are many more detailed similarities between the two.

These failures are due to intelligence collected which was either delayed or misdirected to the rest of the intelligence community. Both events had catastrophic consequences and yet these tragic events has allowed the intelligence community to develop better security like warning signals and combat readiness to protect the United States. United States was not expecting such an event; it was such an unannounced attack on the naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
