The different between environmental and eco crime is that the environmental crime is focused is punishment human behavior to concern when these people do not respect the laws that the state establish. People make crimes but these crimes show their deviance like vandalize in some places that the laws prohibit like people’s houses, because this house is belong to someone that is protect by the law. The legal system has to work with punishment that cause an effect in the society no matter what who is the person who do this crime. On the other hand those who work in the industry system and expose their labor to work long hours and put in risk their employees’ lives in risk. The employ has to penalize with fines that cover the disability and treatment of their labors and the amount of the money has to be consider with the dimension of the health
While caning is mandatory in cases of vandalism, rape and weapons offenses, it is also prescribed for immigration violations such as overstaying visas and hiring of illegal workers” (Reyes 182). By informing the reader of this, the author gives an example of how harsh the government’s laws are. Reyes states, “At dawn on May 13, six Malaysians were hanged for drug trafficking, bringing to seventeen the number executed for such offenses so far this year, ten more than the total number of prisoners executed in all of 1993” (Reyes 181). This gives an exact count of the offenses and the number of people hanged for their crimes, which informs the reader and allows them to form an accurate opinion on the topic.
In this essay I propose to evaluate two perspectives of social control which will be right realism and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and their views on crime and social order. Right realism is a theory on why crime happens and CPTED tries to minimize the opportunity of crime.
There is no simple right or wrong solution, there is simply choosing the best and most appropriate choice for the specific case. Choosing to use the combination of rehabilitation and deterrence is quite conflicting of one another. But some cases call for help and treatment, and so call for punishment. There are so many factors that contribute to a case, that the decision can be altered so fast by the smallest detail. The criminal justice system is complex, brutal, and sometimes unfair, but deciding on the right goal for the criminal can make all the
In running the prison the prison should be well advanced and should have only skilled and trained workers working under the institution. There should be no excuse for not knowing the proper prison procedures and rules. Punishment should be inflicted on those who don’t abide be them, for both the workers and the inmates.

...nvironmental crimes can lead to overwhelming disasters in which mankind may not be able to restore. In order to resolve the Ecocrime paradox, first step should be heightening people’s awareness towards crime against the environment. In a democratic system, it may be feasible; however, in other authoritarian-type governments, it may be very difficult unless powerful figures within their system happens to be knowledgeable about long-term consequences of environmental crimes and acts upon them.
At the beginning of the semester, I thought that environmental justice was justice for the environment, which is true to a point, but I now know that it is justice for the people. Only when there is a people that have been wronged, usually using the environment as the the method of delivery, does it become an environmental justice case. Environmental justice ensures that all people, regardless of income level or race, have a say in the development and enforcement of environmental laws. It acts on the philosophy that anyone living on and in the land should have a say on how it is treated and used. Sometimes when developing legislature, the populations in mind are not all affected equally, and if said population
Vega-Gordilio and Alvarez-Arce (2003) states economic freedoms exist in the following conditions; property acquired without the use of force, fraud, or theft is protected from physical invasions by others. Economic freedoms exist when individuals are free to use, exchange, or give their property to another as long as their actions do not violate the identical rights of others (Vega-Gordilio & Alvarez-Arce, 2003). Environmental laws are established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) who works with state, federal, and other government agencies to issue limitations on individuals and organizations in order to protect the environment, endangered species, and others from harm (Coons, 2009).
One of the many problems with the criminal justice system is the issue of mandatory sentencing. A mandatory sentence is when people convicted of certain crimes are punished with at least a minimum number of years in prison. Mandatory sentencing especially applies to crimes related to drugs, thus criminals who have gone to prison for rape and other violent crimes, often serve less time then drug dealers because of these mandatory laws. Many politicians view this as unfair because these harsh laws on drugs are not fixing the problem, rather they are costing tax payers millions of dollars and overpopulating prisons. To fix the problem law enforcers must convict and sentence the drug lords, rather they are harshly punishing addicts and “drug
There are various questions to consider before the effective implementation of a criminal justice system in a country. The most important question in this regard is who is going to implement that justice system. For example, in the United States of America, the whole system is getting affected by the decisions made by politicians and governments. On the other hand, in Denmark and other Nordic countries, the decisions about the prison system are based on the opinions of the professionals and the politicians do not have much to say in these matters. Another factor that must be considered before the effective implementation of any criminal justice system is the impact of that system on the general public and the criminals who are eventually going to be the part of the general public.
In the simplest form, crime is an illegal action which the societies do not support and government punishes for. Crimes and the criminal justice system are witnessed by society every evening newscast, and in every newspaper. The answer to crime seems to be more punishment, more security and, of course, more prisons. To deal with crime, the best way is imprisonment because prisons have many missions such as; punishment, deterrence and rehabilitation and also do a lot to solve the crime problems by using these missions. Therefore, to keep criminals away from society, prisons serve an essential role.
Assuming the problem will evolve to a substantial problem, it only makes sense that the prison sentence is the correct way to punish the workers. If they work at a $1 wage currently, then there is no punishment in firing and sending them to the farm, where they can work for an equal pay. The prison is disincentivising for the workers, since opportunity costs are high, and they are risk-averse.
Offenses such as robbery, drug dealing, vandalism and DUI should be dealt with according to the number of crimes committed. Robbers and thieves should lose fingers, joint by joint. Multiple offenders should lose their hands. Drug dealers should be put to death by overdose of the drugs they peddled. Vandals should be dealt with in the same manner as in Singapore, caning. Multiple offenders should be beaten to death. Multiple offenders of the DUI laws should be killed by alcohol poisoning except in the case of vehicular homicide in which the offender should be put to good use... as a crash test dummy.
Laws serve several purposes in the criminal justice system. The main purpose of criminal law is to protect, serve, and limit human actions and to help guide human conduct. Also, laws provide penalties and punishment against those who are guilty of committing crimes against property or persons. In the modern world, there are three choices in dealing with criminals’ namely criminal punishment, private action and executive control. Although both private action and executive control are advantageous in terms of costs and speed, they present big dangers that discourage their use unless in exceptional situations. The second purpose of criminal law is to punish the offender. Punishing the offender is the most important purpose of criminal law since by doing so; it discourages him from committing crime again while making him or her pay for their crimes. Retribution does not mean inflicting physical punishment by incarceration only, but it also may include things like rehabilitation and financial retribution among other things. The last purpose of criminal law is to protect the community from criminals. Criminal law acts as the means through which the society protects itself from those who are harmful or dangerous to it. This is achieved through sentences meant to act as a way of deterring the offender from repeating the same crime in the future.
Being part of the law community takes a lot, but here are many techniques that are being used to become a local crime expert. Becoming a local crime expert would help the department to be more informed of the situation or the crime. In module one, I learned that one way to become a crime expert, is by sitting with either dispatchers or police officers and talk to them about what they have seen in their position. Another way is to do as many rides along as possible. A ride along will give you an opportunity to meet and talk to more police officers, but most importantly to observe more cases. Overall, being involved with the law community would lead you to a positive change.
