Atman Lakshana (Signs of self) mentioned in charaka sharira sthana is related to the rashi purusha (Embodied one) not the chetana dhatu purusha (Conscious element). This can be explained by matching the rashipurusha and atman Lakshana as mentioned in table16

Moksha can be achieved only by knowing the purusha. Charaka sharira first chapter ends by the verse Hereafter the personal self having become one with the cosmic self is no longer seen as particularized, being rid of all qualities. He has no longer any distinguishing mark. The knowledge of Brahma alone have Knowledge of this, the ignorant cannot understand it7.

This state is known as yoga. Charaka explains that all sensations cease to exist in the state of yoga (union with self) and Moksha (emancipation). In moksha the cessation is complete while yoga leads to emancipation.
Moksha is possible by absence of rajas and tamas, destruction of the potent past deeds and detachment from all the sources of conjunction11. To remove the raja and tama gunas moksha upayas have been explained by acharya charaka.
In order to assess the spiritual dimension of quality of life, the WHO developed the WHOQOL-SRPB to examine quality of life aspects related to spirituality, religiousness and personal beliefs12. Charaka samhita is the only ayurveda text where we get the explanations of ways for attaining moksha which include aspects of spirituality developed by WHO.
