Destiny is human's hardest fear. The unknown is the future and everything unknown can be good or bad, can bring you up or down. Only God knows you destiny; that is true. But is your destiny written? I admit it; it is a very interested topic to discuss. Our destiny is not written for two main reasons: We have all the freedom of living and we are not God's toys.
As humans, we are all creations of God. This concept is mainly clear in both Christianity and Islam scriptures. First, we have the liberty to survive, as we want and to do actions that our body and mind want to do. We are not certain that we will succeed or fail in life. We are supposed to do and be the best; we shouldn't use destiny as an excuse for our bad choices or credit destiny for the good ones (Weib, 2009). Second, according to Angry Weib, we are born as a white paper. All of us are giving through life different paths and different destinations. We have all the freedom to choose a path according to our beliefs: we can choose the good path or the bad one. Choosing the path is choosing the person you want to be and therefore choosing your own destiny. The paths are written but you have the choice to choose which destination you want. No one recognize what we are destined for! It is important to believe that our fortune will find us. Taking the right conduit is essential for our journey to guide us to achievement in life. Finally, Islam or Christians, we all believe in Destiny. Believing in destiny is believing in the power of God. However, in the end, each one of us knows that God gave us all the freedom to live, and believing in destiny is just following your heart and following all the commands of God or not. Spirituality can have many different definitions, depending on who is asked. It can be something as simple as looking for a higher meaning to life, or something so complex that one can base their beliefs, religion and overall life around it. There are several different ways to express one's spirituality; rituals, songs, dances, stories, and writings are all common methods of expression.
Are our lives only a set out plan controlled by fate? Do our choices and our actions determine our futures? What is the defining factors that affect the course of our existence on Earth? These are all questions that have afflicted society for centuries. As actor William Shatner once said, “The conundrum of free will and destiny has always kept me dangling.” Previously, this debate has been present mainly in the theological world between different religious denominations. However, recently this examination has moved to the secular universe. I am of the belief that we can live our lives with free will over our actions because of my ideas on humanity, my views on life, my understanding of reason, and my belief that there is a Creator.
