Love is the most important feature for humans to advance humanity as desire only thinks for itself. Love is accepting someone for their flaws, appreciating their negative and positive characteristics and being able to sacrifice for someone. Desire is purely what you want and ignoring someone’s flaws and being selfish.
On October 1917 at Camp Taylor in Louisville, Gatsby first met Daisy. She was the most popular girl with the officers in Camp Taylor with her beauty, her innocence and her wealth. Gatsby instantly fell in love with her. “The way he looked at her was the all girls want to be looked at.” After realizing that it was impossible to be with Daisy if he revealed his past and circumstances, he lied about his wealth. He was in need of a job, and when he met Wolfsheim he made millions of profits from selling liquor over the counter. Eventually by 1922, he had already bought the mansion across Daisy house and even own several cars and yachts. Gatsby was determined to get Daisy back. He didn’t care how he had become rich and powerful, he just had to be rich enough to charm Daisy back. Gatsby’s actions prove that he doesn’t truly love Daisy, he is just in love with short sweet time he had with Daisy back in Louisville. His desire for Daisy pressured him to be rich and wealthy and only look to reach his goals no matter how he does it. Gatsby desires to be with the most beautiful and sought after girl. He has an illusion of Daisy as a pure and pretty girl that everyone wants. Gatsby wasn’t thinking about the long term effect; he just wants to think about the short happy memories he had with Daisy. Gatsby took the blame for Daisy in the end, but it wasn’t because he loved her, he just wants Daisy to come
