Hundreds and thousands of people gather around for what is to be the next best twenty-four hour periods of their lifetime. Thousands of people patrol the streets of New Orleans as zombies would in a horror movie. There's an uproar of screaming as if lions were growling in the amazon. There’s a smell that would bring everything in range sprinting through the crowds just to get a whiff. These are the things that make Mardi Gras the way it is. When you first arrive to the parade, you’re greeted by thousands of people all lining up as if it were a concert for the next raging star of America. Neighbors open their windows to release a ray of sunshine as people scream and shout from atop the roofs. All the buildings are decorated as if buckets of paint were dumped from the sky. Confetti and rockets pour down from the clouds like rain does in the middle of monsoon season. A new era of vehicles emerges from the center …show more content…
That bubble of space that was once yours before you entered has now disappeared in the grandstands of people as you’re now surrounded in every direction. Every step taken is with caution, walking like as silent as a cheetah stalking through the crowd as you spot out somewhere to stand. The sound of loud music and thousands of people talking causes this massive earthquake that conducts through your body just like a current of electricity. As the sound of the crowd and music rises with the tension of the air you can start to feel your heartbeat aligning with the beat dancing around inside your chest, partying as if it were the new year already. You walk around the crowd for a couple more feet realizing it’s one major bumper cart arena, as people accidentally ram into each other left and right. As the day continues and nightfall begins the partying doesn’t end, more people begin to give off the aura from parade car to parade car as they
The majority of people who attend Mardi Gras parades on the west bank are often different from the majority of people who attend Mardi Gras parades on the east bank. The east bank is home to nearly all of the famous city of New Orleans, and attracts many more tourists and New Orleans residents to parades during the Mardi Gras season. A large amount of drunk tourists and residents often roam the streets of the east bank during Mardi Gras season, making it a more mature setting. On the other hand, the west bank normally receives much fewer tourists than the east bank, making the parades on the west bank more family oriented. Since the majority of tourists during Mardi Gras season are seeking an oppo...
Ten minutes after lining up, I went inside the nightclub. From the door, I could hear the song and the beat of the bass so loud that my heart could feel it. Inside the nightclub, I saw people were dancing everywhere, on dancing floor, on their own seats, everywhere. They would dance and take a big gulp of their beer. Even the bartenders were dancing too, following the rhythm of the loud funky music. The rainbow rays of light moved through the club to make the mood even more exciting and funky.
You can see that, why New Orleans is called Festival capital of USA. Though all the festival are for your enjoyment, but some of them are very popular. They are –
The nightclub, is an aged, small wood structure in Rhode Island. The club is reported to have a capacity of 182 people. On February 20th 2003, more than 400 fans packed into the small club to see the band. Although there are discrepancies between reports of how many people were in attendance, it is obvious that the number is well over twice the club's capacity. During the performance, as part of the act, pyrotechnics were deployed.

He does not provide statistics or matter-of-fact statements to present the outcomes of Katrina. Instead, Rose writes about what he himself experiences as a result of the storm. This author is not weaving together a tale of imaginary faces in an attempt to gain sympathy. He writes as himself experiencing instances of tragedy, camaraderie, and despondency. There is no logical format for what subject matter he may explore. In this anthology of articles he utilizes dark humor, such as when he writes of the stench and subsequent war of refrigerators; optimism, such as when he describes the characters that remain and the absoluteness of Mardi Gras; nostalgia, such as when he reflects upon memories with his children and his first visit to New Orleans; and dejection, such as instances when he himself begins to lose hope and realize the poor outlook for his
The parade starts again in the streets where there are citizens cheering the uniformed men as they pass by armed with shovels carrying back packs. The men are stern faced with determination while they march by the saluting women who are smiling and cheering. The parade leaves the light of day to a final ceremony inside what looks like a giant
For example, Mardi Gras is celebrated heavily in New Orleans. It always has been. Everyone loves the parades and all the food that's available for tourists to try. After the parades are over, a lot of people like to just hang around on Bourbon St. and have fun and get drunk. Another event that's much known is Bayou Classic. Everyone goes to New Orleans for Bayou Classic. They go to watch the football game. They also go for the concerts. They have different singers that would go down there during the classics and perform. Even some of the celebrities will be there. These events really mean a lot to people all
A band of citizen rescuers would stand out and gain notoriety; this group would identify themselves as the “Cajun Navy”. This is a collection of ad hoc volunteers assembled during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. They are nothing more than fisherman and avid boaters that utilize their vessels to navigate the flooded streets in search of stranded residents. Many would become involved as a way of paying it forward for the help they received when they were in need. News footage would show them lining up on a Texas freeway shoulder having travelled from Louisiana waiting for their chance to lend a hand. (Fountain)
“It was really a happy, fun, cheering crowd,” Schweinberg said. “It was a Mardi Gras parade with no route and no floats. It wasn’t a violent affair, and it certainly wasn’t a riot.”

During this time, the commercialization of Mardi Gras increases, as private and local companies begin to advance their brand with the cultural event, Mardi Gras. As a prior resident of New Orleans, Jason talks about his experience celebrating Mardi Gras in Soulard. In “The Commercialization of Mardi Gras”, Jason says “As soon as you arrive in Soulard you see hundreds of booths selling alcohol and food. Each one of these booths is sponsored by a company. Some booths, like the Captain Morgan booth, will give out free shirts with the Captain Morgan logo on them.” Jason discusses how business is promoting themselves by the commercialization of regional social occasions. All through regional cultural events, companies dependably have tents up with their logo, drawing in people to come over and promoting their special features going on.(Jason) Jason goes on to say, “I had one strand of beads with a Captain Morgan logo on it, one with a McDonald 's logo on it, one with a Bud Light Lime logo on it, and one with a Smirnoff logo on it.” (Jason) Jason talks about how the clearest sign that Mardi Gras been commercialize was his collections of beads at the end of the day. During Mardi Gras, the beads are one of the most important and obvious symbols of Mardi Gras, and even those have been commercialized. The business has not left a solitary part of Mardi Gras that hasn’t been

As the dark stadium filled with fire, with the sounds of guns and bombs exploding everywhere, the crazed fans yelled at the top of their lungs. The enormous stage was rumbling with the sound of a single guitar as the band slowly started their next encore performance. Soon after I realized that I was actually at the Sanitarium concert listening to Metallica play "One", I thought to my self, "Is this real, am I actually here right now?" I had a weird feeling the entire time because I had worked all summer to simply listen to music with a bunch of strangers.
