Imagine walking along the shore, feeling the light breeze on your face, smelling the saltiness of the ocean and leaving your foot prints behind in the powdery white sand. The sun is rising behind you and you can’t wait to see what the rest of the day has in store for you. It feels so unreal, almost like you’re in a dream. You are walking on the sands of one of the most famous beaches. The Waikiki beach isn’t just your ordinary beach, located in Oahu, Hawaii; this beach has everything to keep you entertained for your trip. Pearl Harbor is the largest natural harbor and a historic landmark. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, it was a traumatic time in the U.S. over 2,000 men were killed and many more were injured. You can learn more about the attack on Pearl Harbor and the men that died there, you can visit the many memorials and museums that are located there. It is thirty minutes from Waikiki and you can take a bus to the site or taxi. For adults it is $2.50 from there and back and $1.25 for kids ages 6-17. Hey we should go to Catalina Island I heard it is fantastic! Hey have you wonder what snorkling is like or kayaking well Catalina is the place to go. A little history about Catalina is major investors that have try to turn it into a hotel and resort paradise but it was turned down by Mr.wrigley. One place on the island I prefer to go to camp to is camp emerald bay you can do many things there. The Island is still a great place to go anywhere and is amazing and if you go to emerald bay go to avalon after the camp it is still great with many hotel for you to stay . On December 7, 1941 twenty American naval vessels were destroyed, 2,000 American soldiers and sailors died, and about 1,000 were injured. This event would forever be known as Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was an incident in American history where the Japanese bombed a naval base in Oahu, Hawaii. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because they feared the United States would plan a naval attack on them due to their new acquired territories such as: Philippines, Guam, America Samoa and other small islands. The Japanese thought they could do a swift first strike against the united pacific fleet and cripple America’s ability to respond. By delaying America’s ability to respond they were hoping to gain the territories and control most of the Pacific Rim.

As I walk towards the ocean with the sand warm beneath my feet, the waves lap at my ankles, seeming as if they want to pull me out to sea. The sun rises over the horizon, reflecting off the waves and shimmering like gold. The salt air smells tangy as it stings my nose with the smell I crave while I am away from the ocean. The Outer Banks in North Carolina has been my favorite place to go from my first memories. I look forward to going there every summer because there at the ocean I feel at home. It is a place where I can forget every stress in my life and be totally at peace. It is a place where my family can spend time together, not like at home where we all have activities and places to be. The Outer Banks is not a beach where the ocean is forgotten; there is no partying and no boardwalks, nothing but nature to fill your days there. The beach is not crowded to the point where it is hard to even walk to the beach ,and looking for shells is not even an option. This beach is a very peaceful and surreal place. The noises of people do not overwhelm you at this beach; all you can hear are the sea gulls and the waves.

The attack on Pearl Harbor changed the course of American history. On Sunday, December 7,1941, in Oahu, Hawaii, many American ships were in port on a beautiful day. The soldiers were enjoying the incredible weather on that cool Sunday morning. Yamamoto Isoroku, a Japanese Naval officer, was the mastermind behind the attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. Americans believed Japan was angry at the United States for stopping imports, such as bullets and guns. They also thought the war was far away and their shores were safe. On that Sunday at 7:48 am, Chicho Naguno, commander of the Japanese attack, led twenty-one planes to “wami momi” the name created by the Hawaiians for the base, meaning “Pearl Waters.” That was the first time in the American history that its been attacked on its own soil . The attack on Pearl Harbor put the U.S. on a course of warfare that led to millions of soldiers going, to war, and dying to protecting our country.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
If you have exhausted all other opportunities, then you can try some Zanzibar snorkeling at Kendwa Reef. The reef has taken a toll over time and is not as pristine as it once was, but there is still some great snorkeling to be had. There is the added benefit of having the gorgeous Kendwa Beach as a backdrop while you snorkel the calmer waters here. This beach is one of the best in Zanzibar and great to visit if you are looking for somewhere to spend the day. You can easily alternate between snorkeling and enjoying a picnic on the beach!
