Culture is a series of sights and interactions with the environment that make a region and/or a group of people different from the rest of us. Puerto Rican culture is so vibrant and colorful, mix of the native, Spanish and African. I had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico once in the past. While there, my highlight was a food tour. The two hours of food tourism introduced Puerto Rican cookery fusion and my eyes were opened to a food culture rich in flavor and diversity. Since that visit, the foods and food systems of Puerto Rico have been intriguing. I have learned, the island’s weak agricultural development has slowly improved, but Puerto Rico still imports 85% of its food. Sadly, the food system of Puerto Rico is going to be under construction
