Soccer is the world’s number one sport. It’s a game of hard tackles, aggressive attacks and world class goals. There are no requirements for equipment, which are truly needed in order to play except, a soccer ball. It’s a simple and cost effective sport to fall in love with. Whether one is playing on dirt, street, grass, cement or wood, they’ll very likely have a fun time as well as an awesome workout. No better feeling then stepping on the pitch to freshly cut grass, green as ever then lacing up your cleats to the whistle blaring. From men and women to young children, all ages can for take in this beautiful game.
It all started when I started playing recreational soccer as a young child. I picked up the rigid soccer ball and dropped it at my feet and fell in love with the sport. Executing multiple wins and scoring keen goals, kept me motivated to move further. The accuracy and focus that it takes to finish a strike is difficult, yet everything takes a little practice. Scoring a goal is like being on stage with a spotlight on you, with the loud cheers, all eyes are on you. Being in the moment with minutes to go and the loud roars of the crowd and rapid beating of one’s heart as the referee checks his watch towards the final minutes delivers a terrific adrenalin rush. Being out on the pitch or even better, overlooking the beach with a soccer ball at foot is sensational. I would love to be able to represent my country in the future and play for the name on the back of my jersey and the crest on the front. The rituals and overall culture would be astonishing. Soccer builds friendships and social bonds, whether it be fans sitting at a bar watching a game or players in the actual game.
