Soccer is the world’s number one sport. It’s a game of hard tackles, aggressive attacks and world class goals. There are no requirements for equipment, which are truly needed in order to play except, a soccer ball. It’s a simple and cost effective sport to fall in love with. Whether one is playing on dirt, street, grass, cement or wood, they’ll very likely have a fun time as well as an awesome workout. No better feeling then stepping on the pitch to freshly cut grass, green as ever then lacing up your cleats to the whistle blaring. From men and women to young children, all ages can for take in this beautiful game.
It all started when I started playing recreational soccer as a young child. I picked up the rigid soccer ball and dropped it at my feet and fell in love with the sport. Executing multiple wins and scoring keen goals, kept me motivated to move further. The accuracy and focus that it takes to finish a strike is difficult, yet everything takes a little practice. Scoring a goal is like being on stage with a spotlight on you, with the loud cheers, all eyes are on you. Being in the moment with minutes to go and the loud roars of the crowd and rapid beating of one’s heart as the referee checks his watch towards the final minutes delivers a terrific adrenalin rush. The game takes consistent and proper conditioning, in order

to perform at ones highest level. That means, when a player is drenched in sweat and gasping for breath, that’s what it takes. The euphoria of winning a tough match brings a mental aspect into play, when you don’t give up and push your body to new levels; it shows what you’re capable of achieving. Growing up playing soccer up until now has been a blessing. There’s nothing like being able to forget all my problems and worries on the pitch. I look forward to the tough practices after school and being together as a team is like having a family. The variation of drills and ruthless actions of our coach keeps us in the best of shape to live the best moments and ultimately win games. Progression plays a big role in the season, if a team isn’t progressing as a whole, then they’re not going to succeed. Practicing in the rain is a treat, I love the soggy cleats and slippery conditions, that lead to tenacious slide tackles and at the end of it all, a nice warm shower to top it off. Movement on and off the ball develops a vicious attack and ends in a goal scoring opportunity. Players need to have precise passing and possess full control of the ball, in order to have a successful outcome. When the World Cup comes around, the worldwide contribution is inevitable. The excitement of being able to cheer on your country at such a high level stage is fantastic. The loud chants and songs that are sang and the vuvuzelas sounding off through the entire stadium brings a certain type of enchantment. The game brings everyone together, illustrates love and for players it shows the determination and eagerness to be the best. Whenever I think of soccer I feel joyful. I believe in perfection, I believe in determination, I believe in striving to be the best. The tough training and hours spent putting in hard work, always seems to pay off. The moments I enjoy most would be: when my team gains a strong sense of urgency and confidence after some good opportunities and key moments. The best shift of momentum towards a team would have to be a goal, yet when the ball strikes hard off the cold, metal crossbar and makes a loud “ding” suddenly gives me strong motivation to stuff the ball in the net. In conclusion, nothing brings me the happiness and relaxing vibes except for soccer.
Being out on the pitch or even better, overlooking the beach with a soccer ball at foot is sensational. I would love to be able to represent my country in the future and play for the name on the back of my jersey and the crest on the front. The rituals and overall culture would be astonishing. Soccer builds friendships and social bonds, whether it be fans sitting at a bar watching a game or players in the actual game. Some fans have so much love for the game; they are emotionally affected after a hard loss. The passion and love for the game is
everlasting.
Soccer has guided me in many ways to become the person I am. Especially in high school, the sport has showed me how to be much more cooperative and open with others. Before high school, I isolated myself from others and had only a few close friends. Rather than being a sociable, I acted as though I was the only person in the world and had the outlook that as long as I do what is right individually, there is no need for me to work with others. This outlook changed when I joined the soccer team at Holy Spirit, my high school. With the way soccer is at the high school level, I had no choice but to cooperate and associate my selves with others. Once on the field, instead of introducing myself as "me" I had to introduce myself as a part of the team. You win as a team and you lose as a team. Sometimes I wanted to drive to games myself, and I was not allowed to because we are supposed to travel together and it would be wrong to the team for me to separate myself from the group.
From an early age I always knew I would be playing soccer my whole life. My dad showed me the ropes of how to play and got me interested right away. By the age of three I had started playing, and to this day I have not stopped. Soccer has been a huge part of my life and I don’t know where I would be today if I never played. I met some amazing people playing soccer including my coaches who encouraged me and told me never to give up as well as my teammates who became my friends and were always there for me.
There were several factors that played into why I chose to attend Truett-McConnell. I have played soccer since I was five years old and ever since I started I had a dream to play college soccer. My dream was to play soccer at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. My aunts, uncles, both grandparents, mom, dad, and now older brother have all attended Samford. Going there would have been fantastic but God had other plans for me.

Every team looks for a player that moves the ball, and that creates plays to score. This means a person that pass the ball through the entire game. To pass the ball in a proper way is one of the main skills a player needs to play soccer. Passing the ball, keeps the game going. Without being able to pass the ball accurately to your teammates, more than likely your team won’t be able to score a goal. The key for passing is to keep things simple. This means passing the ball to your nearest teammate that is not marked by an opponent.
The definition of soccer: “A game played by two teams of eleven players with a round ball that may not be touched with the hands or arms during play except by the goalkeepers. I was always taught that soccer was to be about the love of the game and that it should be fun. Unfortunately, I faced many obstacles that I needed to overcome before I could truly love the game for what it was worth. I grew and continued to love the game, knowing little at the time of the obstacles I would be faced with, and would need to overcome. My struggles with soccer began early in my life. I was an average player, who had a drive to succeed and go far.
The pounding sound of cleats on the hard grass covered turf. Feeling the air whistling past as numbers and colors rush by. Bodies racing for one thing, the ball. Soccer is an activity that brings me so much joy and pleasure while still pushing my body to it’s limit.

When I become a soccer player professionally my job responsibilities will be to compete in athletic events. I will get to play in season games and championship games. My work environment will be outside on a soccer field. It will also be at my home whenever I am practicing by myself. And when its off season I will drive to the soccer fields and have a session there by myself to improve my foot skill and technique. I could also go to soccer camps.
...y with rocks as the goals and a bundle of socks as the ball. Soccer will make your heart break when your team drops into relegation and make you be in ecstasy when your nation wins the World Cup.
