Home is where my family is, and they make it possible to make home feel like home. It is also a place to relax, have fun, and be with my family. It is a place that I look forward to coming home for the holidays because my family is there. It is really the only time when everyone gets together in one place. My family is very close, so the time we have together is special. I look forward to all the traditions we do for each holiday. Home would not be the same without all of my family
Christmas is a time when family is a big part of home. I get to go home for winter break, my brother comes home from college, my uncle comes for a week, and my grandma comes for a couple of weeks. My brother comes back from the University of Baltimore County in Maryland. My uncle comes from Norwalk, Connecticut which

Everyone is off of work or school and finally come together for a week of fun. One of the first things we do is decorate the Christmas tree. The lights get put on the tree by my mom, while my uncle supervises. She is also the organizer and yells at anyone who is putting too many ornaments in one place. When I try to put my ornament with my baby picture front and center on the tree, she is the first one to yell at me, and tell me to take it down. My brother does the same thing, so we constantly battle where to put them. In the end, the ornaments end up randomly placed somewhere around the tree. Everyone puts on their favorite ornaments on the tree, and then we put on all the other ornaments. The last ornament to go on the tree is given to my grandma. The quality control man is my uncle. Once everyone finishes working on the tree, he looks around the whole thing and makes any changes he thinks needs to be done. In the end, the tree is looking great. I love how the green, red, yellow, and blue lights shine against the ornaments and really makes them stand out. Everyone has a job in this process, and it makes our family grow together. We
Guillermo - (Memo): Enrique Castiliio he was very studious, he was always studying and you get the feeling that he knew it was his only way out.
Gift-giving nowadays is no longer an act of kindness, but rather a political measure, taken to ensure one’s status with one’s acquaintances. While the general feeling of "goodwill towards men" still pervades the season, albeit filtered through television and municipal decorating projects, there is a great tension that precedes the actual Christmas holiday itself. I remember Christmases of my youth as enjoyable times, to be sure, but also as times when it was best to stay clear of my mother, who was inevitably in
When I was younger, the two holidays I looked forward to were always Thanksgiving and Christmas. This time of the year always is the happiest because everything feels so refreshing because I am spending quality time with the people I love most. When it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas, I always seem to have the most memorable good and bad moments. These holidays have very different meanings but have the same feeling because it symbolizes, good food, good times with family and a whole lot of drama.
A definition of home has no correct answer. Each individual's meaning is different. I associate home with feelings of comfort, security, and love. Webster's Dictionary defines home as "a place where we live, a place of residence (w...
One of my favorite holidays is Christmas. Christmas is “The most wonderful time in the year.” In my family, Christmas is the biggest party of the year. My family’s religion is Catholic and Christmas is a very important day to us, that is why we have a big family get together. My family is united from different areas of the world and the country. We are a Polish family with many different thoughts and ideas, it’s important to make everything is everyone's way so there is no fighting and everyone is happy. A week before Christmas my family
My family had many memorable holiday and birthday celebrations that are still valued by me as I age and move up in life. Before my parents decided to divorce we used to cook all day and night on Christmas Eve and when we finally decided to sleep, or my parents decided, we would wake up at 4:30 in the morning to open presents. I believe that custom is still with me to this day because I still wake up at 4:30 in the morning on Christmas Day. I think that customs depend on the emotional connection. My family would sit around the living room and laugh, talk, and reminisce about different times in their lives. We used to have a big celebration for birthdays and would invite everyone. It was always a personal affair that we would cook for and dance and just have a great time with family and close friends. It was a beautiful thing and it was extremely enjoyable. I cherish those moments with my family and I plan to have those customs and also to add my own customs into my own family one day in the
Lastly, I enjoy spending time with the ones that I love, including the ones that I do not get to see often. I enjoy gathering around and seeing everyone smiling and enjoying time together. There is no other feeling than seeing all of my family together and happy. Because, no matter what I do in life they will always love and support me. Also I enjoy spending time with family, because family is an important aspect in my life and always will be.
My home is the safest place I have where my parents give me health, my parents have helped me through my worst and stressful times. My neighborhood is friendly, it is calm, the neighbors are sweet and nice sometimes we even get
They say grandparents, are the two most favorite people in the world to children. Grandparents are the main characters of your childhood, they are the ones that leave you with the most beautiful memories of your life. Some grandparent’s teach you a very valuable lesson of life, they teach you respect, hard work, family values, and unlimited love. They show you their love in many ways, they say I love you in words as well as actions. Grandparents are the ones that sometimes get you out of trouble and guide you to the correct path. They show you trust, a trust that cannot never be broken.
Every year, my parents add a little more to the outside decorations. My mom, sisters, our children and myself decorate the inside of the house. My mom has so many indoor decorations that they can not all possibly be displayed. We try to change the decorations, which we put out every year. The men finish up just about the same time as, we women and then it is time to decorate the tree together. The children love this the most.
“Santa is Coming to Town” Since I was very young, my mother would always put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving. I always hated decorating the tree every year just to take it down in a month. Though, my mother would always say, “you never know when it will be your last Christmas.” As I became older I realized every year more and more family would come over to help decorate the tree. It soon became a whole family tradition for people to come to our house and bring their favorite decorations and come deck the halls.
In many ways Christmas is similar to Thanksgiving in the way we celebrate it. We switch sides, sometimes Christmas is at our house, tons of food is made and we play games. Depending on what side of the family we’re spending Christmas with, there’s a theme, for example, about two or three years ago we spent Christmas with my mom’s side of the family and it was a pajama party and last Christmas we spent with my dad’s side the theme was ugly Christmas sweaters. Every year no matter where we spend Christmas, we always have to get some of my great grandma’s amazing and delicious Champurrado. She makes Champurrado every single year, she won’t tell anyone how she makes it for some reason, but her Champurrado is like heaven in a cup. On both sides of my family,it’s tradition for us get together on Christmas Eve and we have dinner, watch movies, play games, and even take naps, all until midnight and that’s when we open our presents. Also, on both sides, the adults do White Elephant and sometimes depending on what the majority vote is, they’ll do a secret santa exchange. The only thing my mom’s side of the family does differently than my dad’s, is that prior to getting together on Christmas Eve, the adults put each kid’s name in a hat and each person draws a name, and the name they draw is the kid they have to buy a gift for, and they’ll say the least or most amount of money they can spend on that gift.
One of Charlie Brown quote that resonates with me is "it's not what's under the Christmas tree that matters; it's who is around it with you". Christmas is one of the most cheerful holidays and for me it is a wonderful feeling as it brings feelings happiness, joy, love and friendship. Although, my family drives me insane at time it is always good connecting and bonding with them, especially if I have not seen them in a while. The sense of belonging provides me with security, acceptance and love. Being with family on Christmas creates a legacy and tradition of my own.
The whole family comes together for this special holiday. We have so many traditions of that particular day. When I was a child in the month of December, every morning my father would put Christmas songs in my room. The very first song that he would play is ,“It’s the Most Wonderful time of the Year” this song gives me joy to this present day. I would wake up to this song and find my dad in the living room waiting for a dance, he would spin me what felt like endless. On that afternoon, my mother and I would start making delicious tamales and posole while my dad is making his famous dessert, cheesecake. Then on that cold and dark night my sisters dressed up my dad in a Santa costume and sent him to the roof. I was in disbelief when I saw “Santa” on my roof. My parents would remind me that I was the happiest girl in the world that night. They would say that my eyes were wide and my mouth was open the whole time “he” was up there. It was never about the presents that would await for me in Christmas morning, it was about the whole family being together and having a fun time. Which we did and I still continue to understand that. My father made that special day just for
The majority of children in a large family are busy in the lives. However, there are moments when they can enjoy together especially in the holidays. Frequently, they enjoy pleasant times and moments amongst themselves. As well, they look forward to such events the whole year.
