In a world where technology is taking over, you shouldn’t be surprised that it has come along with some issues. When most people hear about how technology has problems, they think about articles they have read about teenagers being glued to their cell phones or how everyone has basically lost their way of socializing. Although this may be true, there are several specific issues buried inside the machines themselves, along with the people who take part in creating them. In the following paragraphs, issues involving denial of service attacks, security in the age of big data, and unmotivated tech student workers will be discussed along with feasible solutions. Denial of service, or DoS, is one of many attacks that occur when using technology. …show more content…
When students are in college they try to get experience in their future careers by getting jobs that are related to their field. When students are not trained properly or are not exposed to a real life job setting, it could really affect how they work outside of college when they are working for real companies. In return, this narrows the employer’s choices on good employee candidates, without good employees you don’t provide a good service. There is a wide discrepancy in how students do their jobs. Some students are productive but many others seem to languish in mediocrity. This can be changed all by the way they are trained. A common mistake is student employers assume telling the student what to do is the same as training. Taking the time to properly train the workers, show that their employer has interest in them and in their ability to get things done the right way. It also gives them confidence and understanding in their work. A student that knows what they are working on and why they are working are better at their jobs because they can strive towards a goal. In addition, when a student worker is confident in what they are doing, they are going to be productive and motivated as they work. At the help desk where Mark Holm works with student workers, they train their students and have them shadow their more experienced students on calls before they have them perform any work on their own. They build skills by repetition with the most common tasks before expanding the training into less frequent and unique tasks. Paying close attention to the work being done is important for the student worker to be successful. Monitoring their work early and correcting as they go can not only avoid bad habits but when done the right way it gives the student confidence that they are doing the job correctly. When correcting students a balance needs to be
Many people would become jobless because low-level jobs would no longer require employees. Higher-level jobs would lack qualified candidates to work for the companies. Reviewing the article, Dale forgets to point out that many people who go to college become successful. Yes, college isn't right for everyone, but most of the time, the only way for people to have a successful lifestyle is to attend college. The question that Dale poses to the readers is, "What happens to the kids that complete college?"
As the economy evolves and the job market continues to get more competitive, it’s becoming harder to have a successful career without some kind of college degree. This creates a belief in many young students that college actually is a commodity, something they must have in order to have a good life. There’s many different factors that influence this mindset, high schools must push the importance of the student’s willingness and drive to further their education. College isn’t just a gateway to jobs, but it is an opportunity to increase knowledge and stretch and challenge the student which in return makes them a more rounded adult and provides them with skills they might lack prior to

Contrary to popular belief, a college education can help with any job, regardless of whether the job is within a certain major or not. In fact, a college graduate even benefits if they take up a job as a plumber or a police officer- not only from their academic education, but also from learning important skills such as persistence and discipline (Leonhardt). Having a college experience and exposure to the world creates well- rounded people with higher skills and work ethics- and therefore better workers. Though they aren’t immune to being turned down, college graduates are more likely to actually get jobs, and be paid more for them, as shown in a study d...
If more people went to college, and less went the vocational route, jobs will take a momentous hit. Today, companies will not even touch an application that does not include a Bachelor’s Degree; even if the Bachelor’s Degree has nothing to do with the job being applied for. Attention is not given to whether the hopeful applicant qualifies for the job; all that matters is that the applicant has a Bachelor’s degree. Murray best sums up the American job market when he says, “Employers do not value what the student learned, just that the student has a degree” (Murray). However, if less people obtain a Bachelor’s Degree, employers will be forced to base applicants on their skills, and abilities. Furthermore, important vocational jobs that lie vacant will be filled. Good electricians, carpenters, and construction workers will always be in
College graduates work more to improve their interpersonal skills, which make them more successful than others. An interpersonal skill is a great quality to have in a person since they are able to communicate or get along with a different group of people quite well. Being able to communicate with those who are difficult for high school students to communicate with, open opportunities for bigger business. Employers seek for workers with these types of skills since they are less likely to "scare the customer

...order to get better jobs and earn more money, to get to the good life, yet influenced by what colleges want them to learn and what employers want them to know: these all may or may not be the same thing. What employers want out of college graduates is also based on money: who can do the job the fastest and best, who can save or make money for the business. What is clear is that the university or college which is purely a "meeting of the minds," a place for people to gather and learn for the sake of learning, seems to be becoming a thing of the past. It is being replaced by an increasingly commercialized system of higher education: one that costs more and more each year--with the cost rising much faster than the rate of household incomes, and one that is being altered by the needs of an increasingly diverse student population and the needs of the business world.
Without proper protection, any part of any network can be susceptible to attacks or unauthorized activity. Routers, switches, and hosts can all be violated by professional hackers, company competitors. In fact, according to several studies, more than half of all network attacks are waged internally. To determine the best ways to protect against attacks, we should understand the many types of attacks that can be instigated and the damage that these attacks can cause to data. The most common types of attacks include Denial of Service (DoS), password, an...
Within the last decade, the internet has proven to be the most efficient way to complete tasks in today’s society. Every major business in today’s society relies on the internet to conduct business. Though the internet is a useful tool, our reliability on it opens up the door for cyber-attacks that can be detrimental to business as a whole. One example of a cyber-attacks that have recently started becoming more prevalent are DDoS attacks. Recently, DDoS attacks have been a rising issue for businesses owners who run their own servers, such as video game companies and other high profile web servers, including banks and other credit card payment gateways.
The book Taking Sides- Educational Issues states that, “individuals who have attended college have greater work opportunities and tend to have skills that can be easily applied in different job settings”.
Pg. 325 #1 As they are now the credential needed to get into an entry level job can be a large deterrent towards students trying in school, when the likelihood of them getting a well-paying job can be slim. What I think is the biggest problem with the qualifications needed for a job is the amount of experience that many jobs are asking for now. Students are finding it hard to be accepted for jobs in today’s work climate because a lot of entry level jobs are asking students to have several years of experience for a job that should be giving them that experience. This aspect of job qualification continuously makes it harder for students to find a job in their field of study to hire them, causing many students to lose heart and start underperforming.

The issue is increased as because many of these teenagers are also not in school. A possible solution to this problem is for companies to offer apprenticeships to promising high school students.
