The population of Texas has changed over the years. This has been attributed to by the increase in the rate of both domestic and international immigration. This has thus resulted in the diversification in the population in Texas. A large percentage of the population is considerably made up of Anglo-Americans and Hispanic populations with the African Americans only taking up a small percentage. Texas is thus considered to be a diversified state in America as its home to different races.
The political implications of this diversification in population has however been witnessed in recent years. This is through the dominance and popularization of the Republican Party in Texas as a result of the largest population being made up of Anglo-Americans and the lesser percentage being divided into the other parties such as the democrats.
Nonetheless, from the debate between Dan Patrick and Julian Castro, I agree with his stand on granting of legal residency to young people brought into the U.S without any legal documentation. In my opinion, undocumented immigrants should at least be given a chance to defend themselves with valid reasons on why they should be granted citizenship. Their impacts and implications are either positives or negatives. An influx in the number of immigrants has attributed to the increase in productivity and the productive population in a state. This has in turn resulted in an increase in employment opportunities and revenue earned by the state. An increase in wage gains has also been witnessed in the state, leading to a decrease in dependency levels in the population.
