I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field specifically within the health profession and hospital based. I have thought extensively about my career and been drawn to radiography as it offers attractive opportunities to apply skills and personal qualities. A degree in radiography contains a combination of science and technology which makes it the perfect course and career choice for me because I like to put the knowledge I have learnt in to practice. In order to gain crucial work experience and further knowledge to be absolutely sure that it was the right choice for me, I spent a whole day experiencing radiography at

What I can say is that it was one of the most exciting professional days I have ever had and I enjoyed every minute of it, confirming my aspiration to embark on radiography as a career choice.
I am currently studying Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Science. This course involves a lot of practical work which I enjoy doing, one of the units which I was most interested in was fundamentals of science. The reason I enjoyed this unit was because it was mainly about anatomy and physiology and was interested in how certain body parts are interlinked together such as the skeletal system and how they play a unique role in the body. This course also offers a great opportunity to study science and to progress to a wide choice of courses at an advanced level and involves a lot of laboratory practical work.
In a radiology department it is important to have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with other members of the team, and to support patients who may be scared or insecure about what is going to happen. Diagnostic radiographers get to know patients for a very brief period of time, and it is important to be able to understand the psychology
