PART 1:
In the article I have chosen one of the problems that had been presented is the deforestation in Brazil. This country had a problem with deforestation and had found a fix for it, but recently there had been a uptick of deforestation due to the land acquisitions by the cattle farmers and agriculture. What was important about this was the management by interest groups as well as the government officials in order to stop illegal harvesting in the rain forest as well as be able to ensure that the deforestation that is occurring will not impact the whole habitat greatly. But from the article there was also a very important mentioning that there was a very bad level of deforestation that could threat the environment. (Schiffman 2015)

While the EIS corrects the leases, the major important point that was described in the article is the concern that the Oil and Gas companies that hold the leases are complying with the NEPA act, and are filing the EIS. With the EIS, the BLM can alter if needed the different terms and conditions of the leases held by the energy companies in order to ensure there are no large impacts to the environment. In this article there were also important organizations that worked alongside the government in order to ensure that the harvesting and the impact to the wildlife and valuable resources are not large and intrusive as well as keeping within the NEPA. (Snow 2014) The BLM also held a 30 day comment open house to get the public reaction to these companies’ leases as well as the EIS being conducted. I think in this instance of the NEPA and the use of the EIS in order to ensure that the current leases are not affecting the environment and the water streams, is effective land management as a start in order to limit the impact of natural resource

To the northeast part of Arizona lay a conflict between two indigenous groups from the surrounding area and the world’s largest coal company formerly known as Peabody Coal (now Peabody Energy). The Hopi and Navajo reservations surround a region known as Black Mesa. Black Mesa is located on both the Navajo and Hopi Reservations which is a target source for underground water called the N-aquifer. The N-aquifer contains a great amount of pristine Ice Age water. As time drew on, many indigenous people were alarmed that the water was carelessly being depleted from their land. Mining on Black Mesa should be stopped because the inhabitants are affected by Peabody, livestock in the area must depend on the local springs, groundwater is being depleted at an average of 3.3 million gallons per day, and the water is being contaminated (SBMW Online par 1).
Therefore, a large amount of trees were cut down and led to forest destruction. People have done these kinds of activities for many years and these deforestation activities have brought about a lot of permanent and long term issues. Although the society has started to consider the problem of deforestation, it is not easy to solve the issues completely. Land desertification can be a huge area and it almost cannot be controlled. In addition, it is not only threatening the people and animals in the Amazon, the world is also threatened by deforestation.
Although creating jobs for thousands of people, think about what the people who live in the land feel. They’re going to be out of a job, house, and sense of security. The companies are picking up hundreds of families and making them move because they are destroying their drinking water. The Dakota Access Pipeline Plan issue will harm many people’s drinking water that will cause harmful effects to their bodies like cancer. Then destroying the homes of many is unethical because Native Americans have civil rights like anybody else who has citizenship in the United States.

While tensions have remained high, the requirements for the ranchers lead by Ammon Bundy have remain stagnant (stated above). A way to which this conflict may be resolved peacefully even though I believe the government is correct, is to comply with the rancher’s demand. For an esteem agency like the BLM, they can easily acquiesce and renounce the wildlife refuge, while the case between Dwight Hammond and his son Steve is simple when reducing their
Costa Rica in the last year has had serious issues with deforestation. Costa Rica is known for the huge forests and biodiversity. And without these forest the animals species will get in real trouble. In the following paper the issues and reasons for deforestation will be explained, the effects of deforestation, and finally what Costa Rica is doing to resolve this issue.
Deforestation is a widely used term, but one with different meanings. Disturbance deforestation refers to all man made disturbances that alter a forest, these are the most common. This argumentative essay discusses the positive and negative aspects of deforestation. In the first part of the essay the pro arguments of deforestation will be discussed. For example, the issue of Global population and how forests are being used, land use and the ways forests contribute, wood use, forest growth, destruction and the reasons for cutting down the trees. The second half of the essay will cover the issues that are harmful to the environment because of deforestation. Many environmental issues take place everyday; a big question that arises, is if the global economy will ever finds middle on the issue of forest thinning. If deforestation was used only in the most crucial of times, the world might become a better place.
Deforestation is fast becoming one of the world’s worst environmental/geographical occurring disasters known to mankind, and is due to humankind’s greed, ignorance and carelessness when considering the future of our environment.
Nowadays deforestation is the one of the most important and controversial environmental issues in the world. Deforestation is cutting down, clearing away or burning trees or forests. Particularly tropical rainforests are the most waning type of forests because of its location in developing countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, India, central African countries and Brazil. Deforestation rate in those regions is high enough to worry about, because of large economic potential of forest areas. As the result of causes such as agriculture land expansion, logging for timber, fire blazing and settling infrastructure there might be serious impacts in future. For instance, extinction of endemic species of animals and plants which will be feral, increase of greenhouse gas emissions which may lead to global warming and consecutive catastrophes, destruction of home for indigenous residents which is considered as violation of human rights. Some people can argue with these drawbacks telling that deforestation have more valuable benefits such as growth of economics, production of food and providing better opportunities for life for poor families. However, these benefits are quite temporary and government of that countries and world organisations tries to halt deforestation proposing several solutions. Deforestation problem is especially acute in the Brazilian Amazon, where its rate is much high comparing with other regions. This paper will describe world-wide rainforests, causes and effects of deforestation, and evaluate possible solutions of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon.
The forests around the world a supply a plethora of community amenities and commercial goods , nevertheless forested terrain progressively is becoming transformed to accommodate other uses, including cropland, pasture, mining, and urban areas, which can produce superior private financial returns. The wide array of benefits the forest provides that vanish directly tied to deforestation have resulted in several policies drafted with the sole intention to reduce the frequency of deforestation. This paper has two primary objectives. First, this paper will review and summarize both the preceding and current research on deforestation. Second, it will emphasize the significance of future research and development, as well as other solutions needed
Deforestation is the amputation of trees from forest areas more swiftly than they can be replanted or regenerate naturally. The fact that trees play an incredibly momentous part in stabilising climate, atmospheric composition and soil structure, removing trees rapidly becomes a major problem. There are numerous reasons behind the felling of trees by mankind. The Amazon basin is a prime example of humans exploiting rainforests. Within this tropical rainforest lie a vast variety of tree species, with many uses, giving humans even more reason to exploit this area.
According to the article satellite images reflect that the Amazon rainforest is diminishing at an enormous rate. About 10,000 square miles of this beautiful forest is being lost to pastures for grazing, soybean plantations, and illegal logging. Since the year before there has been a forty percent increase in the deforestation of the Amazon forest. The Amazon is the world’s largest tropical rainforest. They expect this horrible trend to only become worse. Some conclude that if the forest is not protected that it will be wiped out in only eighty years!
The very clear problem of mass deforestation needs to be recognized by every willing person to help resolve it overtime. Having a healthy living environment is very critical to living a healthy lifestyle and with the high amounts of pollutants it is hard to combat the problem; nevertheless, some are willing to stand up and fight the issue of mass
Reflection on environmental issues that I learned in this course so far Deforestation is an environmental issue that has been widely discussed and it has plagued my community and country in general. However, while humans suffer the consequences of deforestation, animals and plants species suffers even more. The earlier humanity takes heed of empirically proven data of what deforestation is doing to the environment, the better it will be for us and the habitat. For the purpose of clarity, deforestation is the remover of Earth’s forests in large scale and leave the land massively damaged and without quality (National Geographic, n.d.). This environmental issue kept me up at night since digesting the fact about deforestation which is a huge problem in Liberia.
Forests are vital for life and have many important functions. They are home to millions of species and protect soil from erosion. Along with this they produce oxygen which is vital for human life, store carbon dioxide and help control climate. They also provide humans with shelter, food and medicines vital for life.
