Love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties per Merriam-Webster dictionary. Seems simple but what is the true meaning of love? Love to me is knowing that my family will always be there for me, marrying my best friend, and my son. Love is standing by each other during the worst storms and coming back on top stronger than ever.
Family love is unconditional, meaning it’s timeless, and everlasting. The love that my family and I share is an unbreakable bond, even on the days that we would like to strangle each other. It’s when you’re young and your mom is being strict and you think she’s the meanest person in the world, but you know deep down she’s only doing it because the love she has for you. It’s when you and your brother fight like cats and dogs but you would never let anyone else harm each other. The greatest part of family is that they will love you no matter the mistakes you make and you can always be yourself.

A husband’s love can be protective, caring, and forever.
The love that my husband and I share is magical, even with hard times and hitting our limits with each other our love continues growing. Love is watching him play with our son and seeing how much love he has for Michael. Love is hearing him complain when he works on my truck but knowing he doesn’t mind because he loves me. Love is when he’s pushing me toward my dreams, even when I get annoyed with him. My husband may drive me crazy at times but he’s the person that I want by my side during this roller-coaster ride of life. The greatest part of a husband is that they push every button they can to push you in the right direction because they do love
you. Having a child is a love that you have never felt before and can’t be explained. From the moment that you know you’re pregnant till the day you hear that first cry, your heart is full of love. Love is watching him learn how talk, crawl, and walk for the first time. Love is seeing his blue eyes light up with his big smile when I walk in the room. It’s when you sit in the floor with him and play with his toys, making silly noises just to hear him laugh. It’s when he’s not feeling good and just wants to sit in your lap because mom makes everything better. I would do anything for this little boy because of my love for him. Love is the strength of this feeling that makes it the most powerful emotion. It can mean a variety of things to different people. Love is a very strong word that is used very lightly during this generation of the world. Love will always be that unbreakable bond between family, spouses and children. Even when the people don’t see eye to eye love is always there and it’s a feeling that is hard to break. From personal experience, I respect and love my family and husband more for pushing me to accomplish my goals so I can be a better person.
...he way love is performed and the price a family member might have to pay for the sake of the integrity of one’s family, at the end of the day, family will always be the people who loves us the most.
Love: a small, four-lettered word that oozes with possibility. What is the meaning of love? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines love as “a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person.” However, can love really be defined? In the short story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love,” by Raymond Carver, the four main characters discuss just that: what is love?
Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary defines love as a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. Love is a journey that begins by building a foundation of trust, commitment, and understanding. The speaker is thorough and demanding to the point that the speaker becomes a façade to keep prospective loves away. Without love as the speaker begins to say life becomes pointless.
The Book of the Duchess is said to be a tribute, a eulogy of sorts. But as with any other story, there is more than one level to The Book of the Duchess. One of the things Geoffrey Chaucer seemed to do in The Book of the Duchess was to define refined love.
What is love? Love has many definitions, which varies from one person to another. One may never know what true love is until it has been experienced. Love is the most amazing, affectionate feeling that can be experienced. According to the Encarta Encyclopedia, love is an emotion that is "explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God."
Love pervades human history and our cultures, yet defining it can be difficult as the word love is used in a myriad of ways. It is used as a universal moniker for kindness and compassion. It is used to describe our feelings toward something; I love Game of Thrones or I love bacon. It is also can mean, as Merriam-Webster defines it, a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. This definition of love is a unique experience of raising above our selfish human nature and putting another’s needs and feelings before our own.
Love is having compassion for others, sharing feelings and your life with another person, as well as, having faith in others and forgiving those we love for the any errs that they may make. Most of all, we must be committed to those we love. Of course, this is only my opinion. No matter how long I try to explain what love is ultimately it is up to you, the reader, to define what love is to you. So let me leave you now with the words of the great Humanist Erich Fromm, "Can anything be learned about the art of love, except by practicing it?"
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love.
According to William Shakespeare’s quote, “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind”, Love is a feeling rather than something seen with the natural eye. Mediating on this quote I have to agree with the author based on my spiritual love that I share with the man above with whom I have never seen. Love can be experience in many different ways; such as the love you share with a significant other who you are emotionally connected to. In comparison, loving a person to an Inanimate, Loving a person feels like you cannot live with out that person and loving an inanimate is just something you adore. Before we get into love, first you have to understand what it truly means.
All around the world "love" has been glamorized/commercialized to the point where men and women crave love with another person whether that love is in a romantic way or a strong friendship. The reason the world craves love so intensely is because love, as cheesy as it sounds, is the closets thing we humans have to magic. Love is such a complex and intense emotion to where words cannot even begin to fathom the toll it has on people. Love can mean a multitude of different things to different people, due to the fact that everyone shares different opinions, believes, morals, values, and overall everyone has different mentalities which causes love to have multiple meanings. Love, in the dictionary, is described as “an intense feeling of deep affection” or “to have deep romantic or sexual feelings or attachments to someone.” But can this definition go further? Are there different levels of love, and if so, how do we describe those levels? How does love impact our lives, and most of all, does it really exist? Or is it just a figment of each of our imaginations?
Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course.
Everyone’s experience and meaning of love differs. Some welcome it while others resist it. It is a simple four letter word, but defining love is so much more than what’s printed in the dictionary. According to Oxford Dictionaries, love can be defined as “an intense feeling of deep affection.”
My family is a love I have. My immediate family consists of six people: my dad, mom, and three sisters and me. However, I love these people on a different scale than I love books. Whether it is a hand to guide, a tissue to wipe away tears, or simply a smile to make my day better I can count on people to love me and so, henceforth, I love them in return. I love my parents for many reasons. They are always there for me when I need help or am need of anything.
