Humor in a nutshell
Humor can be defined in many ways. Humor can be whatever you want it to be, as long as you have a great sense of it. I actually have had a memory that had laugh, like when me and my best friend Gabe were having a simple conversation and we laugh all day. There are many ways you can define humor and sometimes people will not like it, but most of the time they do have a laugh and have fun. Here are some examples and how I think of humor. The first thing i think about humor is, it is hilarious. Most people can make humor be funny and some people just say really stupid stuff that makes it funny. People can make things funny by saying a joke or just doing an action that makes things funny. Sometimes it can make you laugh all day and also can make you cry in laughter. There were many times when i was with my best friend Gabe, and Gabe is the most humorist guy you will ever meet. He loves making people smile and he hates it when people have bad days. He always does something that can bring you up and make you smile and possibly laugh. And other people can be sad from humor also, which brings me to my next example.

Alot of times people think they are funny but they are actually making fun of someone and that is a type of bullying. It is very insulting when people laugh at you because of a stupid joke some bully makes because he wants to impress his or her friends. It can also make people very depressed and sad, and it can possibly make people cry. Sometimes humor can be a type of bullying, a very bad type to. Being laugh at makes you feel worthless and sad, but then you have people like my best friend Gabe, that makes you happy everytime you see him. Which also brings me to my next
Humour allows other's to understand a difficult situation without feeling the need to feel uncomfortable about it.
Humor helps a person to dissolve stressful emotions, it’s a creative way to mentally solve a problem without being depress about the circumstances. Humor encourages a person to realize that there is a problem and something needs to be done about the situation, than a person is not in serious or stressful mode. Sharing your problems with other people helps to ease the pain and with humor added into the problem, helps a person to talk about their feelings and the person who is listening can relax too, because there is somewhat of sense of humor in the problem that does not put the listener in a discomfort position. With this humor mechanism a person can actually realize they have problem and that they have to solve it, instead being depress about the
Psychologists, sociologists and anthropologists study humor because it is a fundamental culture value, but they still can’t determine why certain things make some people laugh and others not. There are “humor quotient” tests that are designed to measure an individual’s sense of humor, but these tests are questionable. These tests aren’t accurate because almost all humor depends on cultural background knowledge and language skills. Not every person in the whole world, or even in one country share the same background knowledge and skills, therefore they cannot have the same type of humor. “The fact remains that individuals vary in their appreciation of humor” (Rappoport 9). Since humor varies from individual to individual, humor lies in the individual. How successful or funny a joke is depends on how the person receives the joke, humor cannot be measured by a statistical
When there is humor involved people seem to enjoy things way better, the reason for this is that people will
Humor: Tactic that plays on social group bias. When we laugh at something, we join with people who are of like minds to laugh at the other—the distorted, the unusual, or the exaggerated.
However, it can be presented in various ways, with the audience either responding positively or negatively to the joke. The different types of comedy can be a hit-or-miss depending on the person, and each comedic style appeals to a different aspect of human personality. Therefore, a person’s preferences for humor can determine who they are as an individual. Family-friendly comedy signifies a family member, a child, or someone of innocence. “Potty” humor indicates someone young and immature at heart. Insult humor is designed for those who can find humor at the expense of their personal pride and stigma. Dark humor is reserved for optimists who have the tendency to cross lines. In the end, comedy is simply a means for people to laugh and find peace in the midst of all the disarray in
Humor is an instinct that evolved to serve a distinct purpose in everyone’s lives especially to stay healthy emotionally. The passage, What Makes Us Laugh by Leon Rappoport thoroughly analyzes the different theories in people’s reactions of humor. Rappoport discusses how certain jokes succeed and fail, why we laugh when we don’t think we should, and why sometimes we might not react to humor. Humor can range depending on the person listening and their perspective or beliefs. Following that, there can be a number of responses whether it is laughable, not laughable, or a bad/good joke.
Bullying by definition is a form of aggressive behavior in which someone intentionally and repeatedly causes another person injury or discomfort. Bullying can take the form of physical contact, words or more subtle actions. [Why] Bullying has grown new outlets over the last decade. With social media outlets and text messaging added to the game, bullying is not just about getting tormented face to face anymore. Cyber bullying can include sending out mean or threatening emails and instant messages about a person, spreading rumors about someone and also include photos that a person would consider to be humiliating. [Chamberlin] Bullying can have many outlets. The most common form of bullying is still face to face confrontation. But the other outlets, such as cyber bullying are definitely not something to take lightly or consider low on a scale of importance. Sexual harassment, racial differences, not being “cool enough”, or just simply being viewed as a weaker individual may attribute to many of the reasons a person is preyed on.
How can one look at a culture and understand its origins, its values, its accomplishments and failures? Through art, poetry, or other literary, or scientific advances? Maybe even in its political standpoints? All of these methods are acceptable. There is one I did not mention in the above list however. It can be considered trivial by some, but I think it is also important. Perhaps we can understand a culture by its humor.
However, it is much more intricate than that simple definition, to understand what comedy is we must understand why it makes us laugh. Most of the time it is because we see others caught in difficult situations, situations that an audience can put themselves in and relate to the reactions of characters. It is the hilarity of the way characters cope with the difficulties that is usually the epicentre of the comedy.
People with a good sense of humor, tend to have less health problems, they also tend to be less stressed, anxious and depressed. Humor can benefit people, with laughter
Humor is an essential part of my daily life. Causing someone to laugh and feel amused varies from person to person. What I find funny may not be funny to others. My sense of humor may vary, from watching comedy movies, to late night comedy talk shows. What I find mostly funny are Internet memes or funny Internet videos, because they have both been modified into distinct funny phrases or modified into funny videos that cause humor and they are always new ones being created, you can also share them to give someone else laughter. My sense of humor comes from my dad, growing up we would watch Spanish comedy on television together, though not all humor can be funny, because I believe there is a line that should not be crossed when using humor.
