When you hear the word commitment I’m sure there are a few things that come to mind; chore, duty, responsibility, obligation, long term, job to name a few. If not then you are already a member of my club or a part of todays society to whom commitment is just a word. It holds no real significance to you and you most likely go around making and breaking commitments without any real acknowledgment. Perhaps you are even unaware that you have done this. Yes, it is possible to do, and often because you do not understand the value of a commitment, spoken and clearly defined or simply implied by your actions and the words you do choose. Let me begin with the Merium Webster defianition: noun 1.a. an act of commiting to a charge or trust: as (1): …show more content…

Humans are all different in nature. We think deeply about issues and then react according to our values and beliefs. This helps us pick the best possible course of action. In “Useless Boys” the narrator doesn’t want to make the commitment because he believes that it does more harm than good to a person. He also states that he has had a problem with others keeping their commitment, for example, his father, who is never around.
Social attachment drives an individual to value what other people think of them. They do not want to do anything that would risk the emotional bond they have formed with the people they value in their lives. The second element is commitment. Commitment refers to the time and effort that is spent building a normal life. It is the commitment each individual spends working hard in their life toward success, whether it is regarding your education or career, or building your status and character.
Commitment, it is being loyal or dedicated to something you love doing. I love being in NJROTC, so I am dedicated to it. Being committed to something helps me stay focus to what I need to do in life. I didn't know what commitment really was until I found something I loved doing and I stick to it. In the future for my goals, I will use commitment to stay on task, stay loyal to what I love, and being dedicated to what I need to
George’s situation is one that is undoubtedly complex. We have an agent who accepts a general principle and yet doesn’t act on it. George’s case doesn’t fit neatly with any of Kant’s examples from his discussion of “from duty” in the Groundwork, yet there may be just enough information provided to form some arguments and conclusions that both support and oppose the idea that George’s actions have moral worth. Before further contemplating George’s story it would be helpful to first provide an account of moral worth as it is according to Kant.
This societal acceptance has made it easier for couples to live together without being married. Many of these men and women decide to live together because they consider the cohabitation a "trial marriage." They fe...
The making of a promise involves the voluntary giving of one's word that, if and when a particular circumstance or situation comes about, one will undertake to act in a manner defined by the terms of the promise one has given. The act of making the promise, in other words, implies a willingness to keep it. What is being agreed is that, on the basis of something said in the past, one's future actions will, insofar as the future is foreseeable, follow a particular course and no other. On the related, but rather different question of the motivation involved in keeping a promise, it may be that the promise-maker's acting or deciding in a particular way places him in a position identical to or in complete sympathy with the person to whom the promise has been made. Equally, it is, possible that events may turn out in such a way as to suggest that keeping the promise would be harmful to the interest of the person to whom it was made.
I do have to admit that sometimes this can be extremely difficult and may leave one feeling a bit vulnerable. Commitment is the ability to take a risk and to accept the possibility of disappointment or pain. Again, I have to agree that commitment can be demanding, but to look on the bright side, it can also be rewarding. To be able to stay in ...

There are many valuable things in life like family, sports, school but what about friendship? To live life without friendship is something no one should ever go through. Friendship is a necessity to living a successful life. Friendship occurs when someone is a supporter, gives assistance, and is attached to someone all the while genuinely taking care of them when they are hurt (The definition of friend, 1995-2002). A good and healthy friendship can be defined fro individuals as when someone has his or her own support system, a friend being loyal, and will always have genuine and mutual trust.
During everyone 's lifetime, there is always something we hold closest to our hearts; it maybe our principles we live by, values, and even our own beliefs. Values are those things that are very important to us but never really realize how much we actually value them in our life. Have you ever been asked to define three of your main values and rip them up? I have and I never noticed how much they meant to me. Each and every one of us believes in our own personal values. These values are what gives us strength and strive us to do what makes us happy. These values are very important to us and are standards that we live by whether we realize it or not. Everyone has something we value including me. Some of the values I might think highly of,
Persistence is more important than ability to determine a person’s success. When there is a person who wants to do their goal or task they have to be able to work hard for their goal, they need to be dedicated to the goal, and no matter what happens they can’t give up which means that they have to keep going and going until they have finally achieved what they wanted to achieve. So this shows that a great successor needs to be very persistent to achieve and go beyond what they want to do, they need to drive themselves to success, but most of all they need to be patient and have time.
