a. What are some of the factors that determine whether it is the CIO
or CEO who makes decisions within an organization? When would the CIO
make decisions and why?
CIOs (Chief Information Officer) are senior executives responsible for
all aspects of their information of company technology and systems.
They direct the use of IT to support the company's goals (Magazine of
CIO). With knowledge of both technology and business process and a
cross-functional perspective, they are usually the managers most
capable of aligning the organization's technology deployment strategy
with its business strategy. CIOs various related services provided by
the information systems department.
CEOs are the executive who is responsible for a company's operations.
In an organization that has a board of directors, the "chief executive
officer" is usually the singular organizational position that is
primarily responsible to carry out the strategic plans and policies as
established by the board of directors. In a form of business that is
usually without a board of directors, the "chief executive officer" is
usually the singular organizational position, which sets the direction
and oversees the operations of an organization.
In an organization, CIO and CEO have their own responsibility to look
after their job, but sometimes they need to make decision together.
Not everybody think the same thing with others. So to determine
whether the CIO or CEO to make decisions there are three factors that
determine whether the CIO or CEO makes decisions with an organization.
The first factor is perspectives (lecture2, week 8, 615110). The jobs
of CIO and CEO are different, so there is the chance having the
clashes in perspectives. As a CIO, making the health and state of the
information is crucial; the effective and strategic use of common
enterprise-wide information requires someone with a cross-functional
perspective. And as a CEO, information system is there to support
business decisions, because the CEO needs to use the information to
support its management and the leadership. When there is a conflict
between CIO and CEO make decisions, they need to think of their
perspectives....

The organizations can receive the benefits use the GDSS. GDSS are
starting to take advantage of more accurate firm-wide data provided by
enterprise systems and the new information technology infrastructure
to support very fine-grained decisions for guiding the firm,
coordinating work activities across the enterprise, and responding
rapidly to changing markets and customers (Laudon& Laudon, p370). So
large numbers of companies now are choosing the system to support
their management decision making, to make right and effective decision

Felton, John. "Child Soldiers." CQ Global Researcher 2.7 (2008): 187-211. CQ Researcher Online. Web. 2 Apr. 2014.
In the world, there are about 300,000 children recruited as child soldiers (Hill 1). One-third of this number of children fight and serve for the government military or rebel groups in Africa (Hill 1). “According to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, child soldiers are defined as all children engaged in hostilities under age 18. Although they are under 18, the roles of children in armed conflict are not limited because of their young age. Some children fight on the front lines of combat. Others perform manual labor, such as digging trenches, working in the kitchen, or carrying food, ammunition, or other supplies, often for long distances. Still others, primarily female children and adolescents, are reduced to sexual servants for military and rebel leaders” (Hill 1).
Social class largely affects the lifestyles of all Americans. Therefore, what does it truly mean to be a part of the lower, middle or upper class? These divisions of social class are interpreted by aspects such as lifestyle and family pay; however, education plays a substantial part in determining one's social class. That does not imply that it will decide achievement in one's life yet to translate, many individuals with a further education for the most part have a higher pay also. Those of the lower and middle class have lower standards for education as opposed to those of the upper class. Other than the differentiation of desire of the people from every social class, it is additionally used to figure out who will pursue their education by attending a university, depending on who can pay for it.
Today, an estimated three hundred thousand children under age eighteen are participating in armed conflicts worldwide. Thousands more face recruitment or are members of armed forces and groups not presently at war.(McManimon) The life of a child soldier is filled with terror, violence, horrible living conditions, lack of proper sanitization and poor nutrition. Though being a soldier at first may seem like the child’s “escape” from the poverty they live in because of the promises that are made to them, most children are brought into situations that are often worse then what they were already living in. The children involved in these situations lose their basic human rights, are abused emotionally and physically, and are treated like slaves forced to do activities that even adult soldiers would never want to do. Such activities include killing their own family members, their neighbours, even having to kill their own friends. Government organizations and non-governmental organizations work hard to try and prevent the selling of children and the transportation of children into the world of being a child soldier. Governments and high power governmental groups create international laws to be implemented however there is still an on going battle to find ways to completely stop the abduction and use of child soldiers.
Students from richer upbringings are given more resources to ensure advancement in their academic career. “The Reproduction of Privilege” article states “... high school students from the upper start of middle class perform better on SAT and ACT tests than those from poor working class.” The upper strata students mentioned have the financial capabilities to pay for academic tutors, including SAT and ACT, and receive the necessary extra help. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, students from higher economic classes are also able to get assistance from their parents, who, most likely, have received a collegiate degree or higher. Furthermore, in terms of opportunities, richer students are more capable of securing a job, as teens, than their lower income counterparts. In the Harvard Graduate School of Education study, “Pathway to Prosperity” the author states “U.S employers complain that today’s young adults are not equipped with the skills they need to succeed…” Since America’s current secondary education tends to focus solely on college readiness, rather than essential workforce skills, many employers believe that young people aren 't equipped to enter the labor pool. However, the study also note that, as of 2010, white affluent teens make up 40.7% of employed teenagers. This fact is most likely a reflection of their parents economic and educational background. The higher one’s economic class and educational attainment, the more extensive that individual’s network. Since the teens mentioned come from an affluent environment, they have the capability to obtain connections through their parents, which ultimately allows them to receive the previously mentioned jobs and
Chief executive Stephen Firn, recently met with the Greenwich carers group at Charlton House, Greenwich. The group meet once a month and this was an ideal opportunity for carers to be able to share their experiences and concerns with a senior trust representative. This included day facili-ties in the Eltham area and security in inpatient areas.
Throughout the world, the use of child soldiers in both civil wars and international conflicts has been evident. Children are combatants in nearly three-quarters of the world’s conflicts and pose . Moral reasons aside, the use of child soldiers leaves the population of demobilized child soldiers psychologically scarred, and regions where child soldiers are used risk long-term instability as children are consumed in ongoing wars. Studies have demonstrated that impoverished regions are more at risk for the presence of child soldiers; this correlation is primarily a result of poverty introducing additional incentives to child soldiering and reducing the state capacity to prevent child soldiering.
Child soldiers are individuals under the age of 18 who are forced to fight within armed forces. According to UNICEF 30,000 children worldwide are considered to be child soldiers.Kidnapped from schools and homes to be used as cooks, guards and spies. Girls are especially targeted and used as sex slaves or given as wives to commanders. In 1989 the Convention on the Rights of children layouts, articles about the correct treatment of any child. The document clearly layouts articles about the correct treatment of children and child soldiers defies all of them in particular article 36 protection from harm and 9 separation from parents. Currently, child soldiers occur all around the world, however, Somalia is a particularly threatening location. According to officials at the UN Children's fund 5,000 children are under control of the East African terrorist group Al-Shabab.
Currently, businesses want to use the information effectively for competitive advantage to make better decisions that improve and optimize business processes, predict the market dynamics accurately, optimize forecasts to adequately maintain resources to name a few reasons.
In war conflicts, children are the ones that suffer the most. Children without education, no parents, or are poor find themselves joining an army because of desperation. Most join to have a better live. They become soldiers in conflict of war under violent warlords rule. This research paper is going to explain why and how warlords use children as soldiers during war conflict.
Prior to the start of the Information Age in the late 20th century, businesses had to collect data from non-automated sources. Businesses then lacked the computing resources necessary to properly analyze the data, and as a result, companies often made business d...
If building a sustainable “world” for our future generations and for other species is in the hands of these moral and functioning values, and requires changing, we are in serious trouble. And who knows, perhaps we are already in trouble, but let’s be realistic, this is not because we are neglecting our own interest. You may take your own opinion on these moral standings but we can assure, this is reality.
Globalization does play into the world of war and child soldiers, with the ongoing change in society sustainable prosperity is the idea that all human beings should be able to live with all their basic needs and rights fulfilled. These children do not get the luxury of living a proper life with the basic necessities, if abducted or forced to join armed forces at a very young and defenseless age. It is simply a infringement against their human rights. This source is a manifestation of reasons why children are being dreadfully treated and forced to become a soldier. “ They are easily manipulated and can be drawn into violence that they are too young to resist or understand.” this quote written in source two speaks the truth from the perspective of the author of this source. Children shouldn’t be manipulated to do evil, that is again breaking human rights as well as a spirit of a young child. The author writes only negative facts to show she believes this needs to stop and is continually a very awful issue. Children should not be neglected a future or
This central question is "How shall we relate to, or deal with, the environment?" Environmentalists frequently answer that we should, in some sense, live in harmony with nature, or respect the rights of natural beings, such as trees, birds, mountains, and rivers. In this essay, I present an opposing viewpoint: I propose that there are no moral obligations which direct how "humans" should deal with the environment, because the concept "human" is an arbitrary class with no real meaning.
