Death Vs. Life

854 Words2 Pages

Life is something that is corrupt with pain. Different religions will try to convince you that the pain is for a profound reason, but there is only one true fact about pain. It’s always going to be their until the problem is resolved or circumstances change. So is death better than the pain of life at some points? Yes. Sometimes the unknown circumstances surrounding death are better than the current position you will have to face. Tragedy, at some points, will turn into the angel of death.
When you die, you no longer have to worry about the circumstances that your loved ones face. “However self-interested or narcissistic we may be our capacity to find purpose and value in our lives depends on what we expect to happen to others after our deaths.”( SCHEFFLER 2) When a nationwide event happens, the people who die never suffer through the rebuilding process, but they die with the belief that hell has come to earth. It is better for them to die fearing the lost lives of their loved ones than actually having to accept and grieve through the real thing. Dyeing saves them the pain that living through the disaster would inflict. “She knew now that those who had perished where the lucky ones.”(KRAUSS 220) The ones that pass away never have to go through the emotional trauma which is arguably the hardest part. “Having my mind back is all I truly need to get through this. I’m willing to work for the rest.” (KRAUSS 198) Though the ones that pass on never deal with the trauma, they also never get to be a stronger person for it. Dyeing leaves them no room for personal improvement, but it also doesn’t leave them a chance to decrease in character. They just die with the legacy they’ve been building there entire lives. However long that was.

...ing just to see if your particular theory (religion) on death is correct. If you hate being by yourself you would have the biggest issue with dying. Unfortunately dying isn’t about what you want or feel. Your opinions on the matter are not relevant. Death is as inevitable as pain. The only thing you can control is your fear and beliefs, and sometimes you can’t even control that. There are no experts on death, for there is nothing to know about it. Not even those who study the death process have an edge on the rest of us.
“We are all equals in thinking about death, and we all begin and end thinking about it from a position of ignorance.” (MASON 1) There are a lot of theories on death, but we will never know if death is better than life until we die. The only thing we can do is leave a big impact on the world we live in, and pray to our God for something to live for.
