In the United States right now, 1 in 5 Americans have a disability of some kind. Today I wish to inform you on the dangers that many people who have a disability face and a specific kind of disability. Disabilities come in a variety of ways, affecting people’s eyesight, hearing, and motor skills. However, today I would like to go over an increasing issue in today’s world, and that is deafness. Like any no communicable disease, people who are deaf have to like a completely changed world then you or I live in. Deafness means a lack of hearing, and can be measured from mild loss to hearing to profound deafness. The disease eventually happens to everyone, however some people are born with profound deafness and cannot hear a thing. These people have to learn a completely different language, they will never enjoy music or radio, and have to find friends in other people with their disease or people who know sign language. With all the cars, speakers, TV and movies, it’s easy to lose degree on how loud some things are. However, there are helpful behaviors you can implore to help you avoid contracting this disease for as long as possible. One thing to avoid is playing music loudly in your earphones or on your speakers. Another thing you can do is avoid noise for an hour a day, go for a walk, read a book, or do another activity like these. Also, wear earplugs near loud machinery and other loud noise makers, and if you go to a concert, carry a pair of earplugs on you just in case it gets to loud. As with alcohol and drugs, don’t fall to peer pressure if you cannot handle the noise. Make sure you know what is good for you, and don’t exceed that
