In 2014, Bradley Voytek – a data scientist with Uber, stated that his team has been able to reduce the ETA in certain areas of San Francisco from 15 minutes to staggering 2 minutes. And this was achieved not by implementing any new technology, but rather by utilization of the data they already had! Listening to this, it dawned on me how precious resource data had become, and how we have just started extracting sense out of it. The way we are bombarded with the influx of data from every sphere of life, and how it governs the decisions of our lives, varying from taking a cab to carrying out space missions to Mars, reinforced my belief that data is essentially the ‘new-oil’. All through my life, I have always been an inquisitive person, who has made a conscious attempt to diversify her skill set in varied spheres of life. Always with an objective to develop rationale mindset and foster an independent thinking. One result of this pursuit is the string of academic achievements – 95% in tenth grade, 90.4% in junior college and 8.04 CGPA in UG. Also, I have been associated with sports from a very young age and have represented school and college in various Lawn tennis …show more content…
During preparation, I realized that technology and data had the power to cross the line which separates us from our virtual reality. This motivated me to explore more about the field of data and I took a six-month internship at Bharti Airtel, an Indian multinational telecommunication services company, where I had my first formal exposure with the field of data analytics. The broad objective of the project at Airtel was to analyze the vast data of call records using Oracle and come up with the factors influencing call drops in a particular

Specifically, crime shows have given us, the TV audience as a whole, scripts or an expectation of what will/should happen in a variety of situations. It leads people to think about what is appropriate and what isn’t in terms of how the results of these situations play out. For example, in the CSI franchise, as the plot unfolds in each episode, it takes forensic evidence, such as DNA or fingerprints, to convict the villain. Before the technological breakthroughs made in the fields of biology and forensics, juries relied more on circumstantial evidence, and eyewitness accounts to prove someone was guilty. This is just one example of how crime shows have changed the general representations of what is the “correct” way to solve a crime.

According to Lisa Arthur, big data is as powerful as a tsunami, but it’s a deluge that can be controlled. In a positive way it provides business insights and value. Big data is data that exceeds the processing capacity of conventional database systems. It is a collection of data from traditional and digital sources inside and outside a company that represents a source of ongoing discovery and analysis. The data is too big, moves to fast, or doesn’t fit the structures of the database architecture. Daily, we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data. In the last couple years we have created 90% of data we have in the world. This data comes from many places like climate information, social media sites, pictures or videos, purchase transaction records, cell phone GPS signals, and many more places. From the beginning of recorded time through 2003 users created 5 billion gigabytes of data. 2011, the same amount was created every couple days. 2013, we created that same amount every ten minutes. Some users prefer to constrain big data into digital inputs like web behavior and social network interactions. The data doesn’t exclude traditional data that is from product transaction information, financial records and interaction channels.

Television has affected every aspect of life in society, radically changing the way individuals live and interact with the world. However, change is not always for the better, especially the influence of television on political campaigns towards presidency. Since the 1960s, presidential elections in the United States were greatly impacted by television, yet the impact has not been positive. Television allowed the public to have more access to information and gained reassurance to which candidate they chose to vote for. However, the media failed to recognize the importance of elections. Candidates became image based rather than issue based using a “celebrity system” to concern the public with subjects regarding debates (Hart and Trice). Due to “hyperfamiliarity” television turned numerous people away from being interested in debates between candidates (Hart and Trice). Although television had the ability to reach a greater number of people than it did before the Nixon/Kennedy debate, it shortened the attention span of the public, which made the overall process of elections unfair, due to the emphasis on image rather than issue.

My love for tennis blossomed at the young age of eleven. During middle school my peers knew me as the boy who was remarkably talented at tennis and I savored that title. Butterflies floated throughout my youthful body whenever someone complimented me. As the years passed, my dad nurtured me into a top player. Before I knew it high school arrived and it was time to compete at a higher level. My excitement was out of this world, but I knew my dad could no longer push me forward and my future was up to me. However, the ego I developed over the years blocked what lie in front of me. I wasn’t looking at the bigger picture; the hard work demanded of me, teamwork, and the motivation to reach an ultimate goal. Throughout my four years of participating
