Darren Mansaram Darren Mansaram (or Flash as he is better off known) scored one of the best goals he had ever scored in his short career. Only eighteen years of age, but an up and coming star of the future hit the sweetest of shots to keep Grimsby Town in the F.A Cup. Grimsby was playing Burnley in the third round of the F.A Cup for a place in the fourth round maybe to face one of the premiership big boys. It was a miserable day with snow coming down in buckets. The previous league match at Grimsby was called off because of a waterlogged pitch so this match was lucky to go ahead. The eighteen year old from Doncaster was named in the starting eleven to face the team they had beat 6-5 two months previously. With the ground quickly filling up, the players came out of the dressing room onto the pitch for a warm up. Every Grimsby player applauded the Grimsby fans for their support and every person in the crowd applauded back. The team started their warm-up and there, right in the middle was Darren Mansaram. This was to be his first F.A.Cup match of his career and it was definitely going to be one to remember. Kick Off was approaching quickly and the snow seemed to have cleared, so the referee gave to 'all clear' for the match to go on. The ground was rather full as the players came out of the tunnel, the Grimsby faithful applauded their team and the Burnleyfaithful applauded theirs. The officials called in the two captains to determine who was to kick off. It was to be Grimsby to kick off left to right towards the away end. Flash and David 'Digger' Soames to kick off, playing the ball back to Stuart Campbell who in turn pla... ... middle of paper ... ...to Mansaram. Great touch to control the ball. Mansaram brings the ball out left, he's got support from the packed Grimsby midfield. He's turned brilliantly, he's going back to where he started. He turns well again and strikes a left footed shot. GOAL, wow what a superb shot straight past the helpless Beresford. There was nothing the goal keeper could do there. After 88 minutes, it's Grimsby Town 2 Burnley 2. Burnley are devastated by that, that they decide to make an attacking substitution. Dimitrios Papadopoulos is coming off to be replaced by Gordon Armstrong. The fourth official holds up the board and indicates two minutes added time. The ninety minutes are up, Grimsby are under a lot of pressure from the Burnley attack. The referee blows his whistle for full time, it's finished Grimsby Town 2 Burnley 2.
Samuel Sewall lived a very Puritan life in early colonial Boston. As a man who cared deeply for his religion and his family, Sewall dearly loved his family and viewed their good and poor health as God’s reward or punishment. He did not, however, simply attend to his family to satisfy what he believed was God’s will. Rising rapidly to a position of prominence in society, Sewall was blessed with money and a close relationship with his wife and children. He aided them individually through illnesses, moral dilemmas, and he guided them through the mourning process after any deaths in the family, though he himself suffered most. Samuel Sewall’s relationship with his family was one of close ties and a strong religious orientation; they prayed and read together from the Bible daily which in turn allowed them to grow closer.
The nineteenth century introduced several great leaders into this world, many recognized by historians today. These men, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and others, have all been honored and commemorated for their contributions. Steve Miller was born October 5, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Steve’s family was very involved with music. His mother was a jazz-influenced singer, and his father was a pathologist that very interested in the world of music. Dr. Miller was friends with many musicians which greatly aided in young Steve’s development in music. One of his father’s friends included Les Paul, who showed Steve some chords on a guitar at the age of five. Les Paul proved to be a very valuable mentor to Steve, and he became a good friend of the family. When Steve was seven his family moved to Dallas, where he was exposed to a different type of artists that usually did not visit Milwaukee. His father took him to see greats such as Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, and Carl Perkins. Steve was particularly drawn to T-Bone Walker, the father of Texas-style electric blues. This proved to be very influential in Steve’s life, and it is evident by the blues-sound that he exhibited in his guitar playing.

In The Other Side of the Sky by Farah Ahmedi, Farah suffers from coping with the Taliban in her daily life. Farah describes the Taliban as “a terrible army of big bearded boys” and “wild alien beings, or beasts from another world.” The group took all of Farah’s family away from her, and the Ahmedi family was just another unfortunate victim of the Taliban’s violence, when the group rose to power.
During a time of great change, both ideally and physically, in Australian history, a young man by the name of Michael Dransfield made his presence known in the highly evolving scene of poetry. Dransfield was an eccentric character, to say the least, and was recognized for his masterful ability of truly capturing the essence of many of life’s situations. Regardless of the “heaviness” or the difficulties of the subject matter being portrayed throughout his poetry, Dransfield was mentally equipped to fully encompass any life experience and dawn light on some of its “eternal truths” in the world. Although he tragically died of a heroin overdose in 1973 (he was 24 years old), Dransfield made a lasting impression on Australian poetry; never to be forgotten and to be forever considered “one of the foremost poets of the ’68 generation of counter-cultural dreamers” (Chan, 2002).
In the novel, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer uses an empathetic tone to explore people's experiences and stories with Chris McCandless to prove that McCandless was sane for those needing closure about his life. Everyone who came across Chris and was able to talk to him saw him for who he was, a true romantic. They saw that he was not just a crazed young man craving adventure, in search of his odyssey. By using anecdotes, comparisons, and, using his own personal experiences, relating to Chris, Krakauer is able to portray Chris as sane.
This essay was written in order to find some relation between two great men W.E.B. Du Bois and Jose Marti, and how they strongly believed in not losing one’s self while fighting to adapt and overcome difficult yet exciting new times in the world for both of their respective cultures. Their emotions become evident in their writings, Souls of Black Folk and “Our America” respectively. Both men have the opinion that their cultures may overcome such hardships that they are facing during their respective time period but not by following the path its current leaders are leading them down. Changes must be made and these two men came forward with plans, ready to implement, if given a chance.

If someone ever met Andrew Urdiales he would be the type that one would forget. He is not very outgoing and would keep to himself, during his childhood he did not have many friends and was an average student. Urdiales was a marine stationed in Southern California when he committed his first murder killing Robbin Brandley a twenty-three year old college student. From July 1988 to August 1996 Urdiales would go on to kill seven more women. Most serial killers kill each victim similar to all the other victims, Urdiales was different though his first murder he stabbed the victim to death while his last he shot in the head.

David Velleman’s “Against the Right to Die”, has given me some mixed feelings as to what I feel is right or wrong when it comes to euthanasia. Euthanasia can be a touchy subject depending on the point of view one takes on. As far as Velleman’s view, he stands right in between being for it and against it from what I have come to understand.
As a kid he was the one who decided what the teams would be at lunchtime and even as a young Scottish player he would help his coaches with team management. Through his early years people were aware of what he was capable of in the future by the way he studied tactics and formations. Sir Alex Ferguson was the most important man in football for the past 25 years. In result of all his qualifications through the years, Sir Alex began to gather his thoughts for his own book. After all of his achievements, and the brilliance of the football teams he created over 27 years at Old Trafford, Alex put together a 402-page continuation of the Ferguson life story. He shares his achievements, significant moments and thoughts for the first time in his life. Not only is it incredible to hear about Ferguson’s life but also to hear it from the man himself.
