At the first part of the book from pages 1 to 47 we are introduce to Darls. At first when Darl is introduce I thought that he was a girl but when I read more into the story I notice that he was a guy. We the description of other characters about darl I also notice that his mother was addie. when dark speak in the book he talks about the inside of his family and also that is how I get more information about addie. He is the second son of addie, cora talks about darl many time during the book the first time she talks about him she say that he love his mother so much but she never appreciated what he did for her. more into the story darl goes from being a nice, sweet guy to this guy who is rude and also straight forward. the description of …show more content…
At their last stop they go to a house and stay in a farm and it does really explain why he get the barn into fire and jewel almost die inside the barn. cash talks about Darl turning clazy and tuning the barn into dust. darl actually is talk away by some man at the end.the prove that cash give that darl is not ok from his mind is that when he is talk away he ask cash if it be good for him to go. cash says “ “ and how he laugh and laugh all the time until he was gone . the last time darl talks in the book he is talking to himself he ask himself “ “ and he answer himself “yes, yes, yes, yes”. the other thing that i Knew that darl was crazy was when varname talks about his brother darl being crazy and also that he was take it away to jeferson. at the very end cash talks and said that he would like that darl will be with then back at home but he was better at jefferson. he said that darl life was not back home because darl have his own life and his life was different. that was the end for darl and even though he was very important for the develop of the story and also to explain why things happen like they happen and why he got crazy. the character of darl for me was a good character and also they way he was introduced to the book. at first i like the way he was because he knew what he was doing and talking about but later in the book he when changing and his character was so different. When they got closer to jefferson darl does something that was not expected he get a barn on fire. Cash talk about this and i could not believe it because darl look like he knew what he was doing. this was so surprising and more when verdammen said that darl was crazy and he was taken away by some
4. At that moment I couldn’t feel any more cynical about the way my friend was acting out.
Dialectical Journal Chapters 12-18 Vocabulary 1. Contemptuously- Showing or expressing disdain or scorn. 2. What is the difference between a'smart' and a Prerogative- An exclusive right or privilege.
This book has great balances of love interests, actions, and internal conflict with characters. It has an interesting story so far with new pieces coming up every few chapters that are very important. Like Al attacking Tris, Eric talking about Divergents and how the rebels must be eliminated. Tris and Four are developing feelings for each other, which I find weird because he is basically her teacher. They are only two years apart, so the relationship is not that awkward. In this journal I will be predicting, evaluating, and questioning.
The sword represents destruction and can signify war. The torch stands for the expansion and the pure light it
Two cheerful children ran down the hallways of the (Insert Last Name Of Isamu's Family) family home.A fire red haired girl slammed the door behind her and it was open again by her best friend.Without looking back the girl loaded her vow with a regular arrow and shot it backwards towards her unsuspecting friend.A quick slice later and the arrow was cut in half by Isamu's sword.Daylight danced around them as the true neck wearing boy pulled ahead and ran full speed to the door of their school.
6. (CC) Since Madame Loisel is the protagonist; I would say the necklace itself is the antagonist. As you can tell from the title of this short story, the necklace is the center of the conflict that is created to the Loisels. It is after Madame loses the necklace that all the trouble begins. Also, the necklace causes them misery and they end up being in debt. Madame and her husband had to work harder than they ever before to pay off the
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
“At the window she raises the shade and a dusky southside morning light comes in feebly” (Act 1, Sc 1, 24).
When I first saw this title, I thought that it was simply just about a person who had experienced a very eventful hour. Although this title is very simple, it does not predict what is going to happen or have any clues or a double meaning, which I think is really cool. After reading this short story, it is exactly what I thought it was. It was a lady, Mrs. Louise Mallard, who had the most eventful hour of any one's life. From the beginning, Mrs. Mallard is sitting in her living room when her sister, Josephine comes in and tells her the horrible news of her husband's death. An important detail is that Mrs. Mallard has a heart disease so Josephine, her sister, has to be very careful telling her the news. Josephine learned of Mr. Mallard’s death
The very first lines of the story sets the tone and setting of this book. It explains that in order for a man to be successful, he needs a wife. It lays the foundation for the idea that a women depends on man to survive in society. Wealthy, upper class men were the biggest targets for a women to marry because marriage was the entrance into high society. Mrs. Bennet exclaims, “Oh! Single, my dear, to be sure! A single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year. What a fine thing for our girls! (Austen 2)” This shows the dependence of women on man and the hope a promising bachelor gives to a family of daughters. Women were raised to be promising wives for man. Learning to cook, play instruments, look pretty, and clean were all essential
The distance between the members of the family, especially, Jewel and Darl, is brought to the surface throughout the sections of the book. Darl and Jewe...
Jewel, Addie's son by Whitfield, is 18 years old. Like Pearl, the product of Hester Prynne's adulterous affair in Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel The Scarlet Letter, Jewel's name is a symbol of the value his mother places on him. The favoritism that Addie showed him is responsible for the antagonism between him and Darl. Jewel personifies Addie's preference for experience over words. He is always in motion. He expresses himself best through actions. When he verbalizes his love for Addie- in his single monologue- he does so with a violent fantasy about hurling down stones on outsiders. Elsewhere, he expresses his love for her through deeds, not words.
“GET MOVING! There is no time to waste! He wants us there soon!” screamed the slave catcher in a way that made him sound like a guard.
Seymour is a palely sick, quiet individual, who is disconnected from the world. Dr. Sivetski told Seymour’s father that the army should not have released him from the hospital and that he could go crazy. He should not of been let out, let alone have been trusted with driving, or anything for that matter since his accident in Germany. He is not right in the head and could go off at any time. The window incident, chair incident, telling off Grandma, and what he did with the Bermuda pictures were not gone into detail because J.D. Salinger wanted the reader to know just how embarrassed and worried Seymour’s parents were about his current situation. Muriel, Seymour’s sister ignores or doesn’t recognize the signs of how messed up he is. Instead of being by Seymour’s side, she is socializing and making the best of her time in New York. While she was busy having drinks with the Psychiatrist, Seymour was entertaining three year old, Sharon Lipschutz by playing the piano.
I think that what the author was trying to imply in this passage was that in his personal experience, he has noticed that many people take many things for granted and that they don’t live their lives according to what they want and need to do. So much is wasted during one’s lifetime, and people just allow their lives to pass them by.
