The atom bomb is the world's most powerful force ever known. The atom bomb has helped while at the same time hurt our world a lot. On July 16,1945 the first atomic bomb was tested, but after its success people saw how terrible this weapon really was in total. Shortly after the U.S. built many of these and bombed Hiroshima, and Nagasaki in a major war. The story “ Dark They Were And Golden Eyed” is a social commentary based on the idea of the atomic bomb. First Ray Bradbury’s book strongly connects to the social commentary of the atomic bomb. It is about how the bitterings family is forced to travel to mars and live there because a big war has struck and devastated the planet. “ One day the atomic bomb will fix earth” ( Bradbury 480) by killing earth and making it lifeless. In 1945 when president Harry Truman heard about the successful testing of the atomic bomb, he thought “ We have discovered the worst bomb on earth.” ( Barrett The Bomb) which shows how terrible and destructive this force really is. The atom bomb has killed many millions of people and has not helped this world very much at all. Many people may easily say that the atomic bomb is good and the cold war has more effect than the atomic bomb has in total. In 1947 when the cold war had started and ended in 1991 it is called a war but the U.S. and Soviet Union never had any conflict much. The cold war ended when the Soviets, strongest force in the world at the time, collapsed due to socialism. People say that the cold war is better than the atomic bomb.
