I am usually very hesitant to show any my dancing, mainly because I am a bit of a perfectionist. In this case, I felt that dance would be the best way to show my understanding of the novel, The Bean Trees. While reading the book, the highs and lows of Turtles life really stuck out for me. To begin the project, I had to find a song that would work with Turtle’s story. This part took a long time, but eventually I came across the song Blackbird by The Beatles which I realized would work perfectly. This song was ideal because of two things; the rhythm and the topic. The rhythm worked well because of how slow it started, and how it got to be a happier song as it went on. Also, the soft, mellow rhythm of the song seemed to represent Turtle’s character
