In the world we live in today it is not uncommon to hear of teenagers who are not getting through life very peacefully. There are two major factors that contribute to disturbing the peace in the lives of teens. The two factors that are at fault are harassment and bullying. Some people are under the impression that bullying is a rite of passage and that everyone will go through it at some point in their life. Degrading people and blinding them from being able to see their self-worth is not something that everyone must go through. The ones who are responsible for inflicting this conflict are not always aware of the actual toll it takes on their victims. The numbers of both harassment and bullying are on the rise in the United States, as well as other countries across the world. Across the globe, people are now willing to come out to take surveys and speak out about their personal experience with bullying and harassment. Teenage bullying and harassment is so common, yet they are not the only ones who are experiencing it. When it comes to bullying and harassments there is not any exceptions made. Usually, when someone is being targeted it is obvious. In Dan Olweus’ theory of the profile of bullying, he believes that there is three different types of victims. The passive type is one who is constantly bullied, yet will not defend his/herself. The Bully Victim is a target of bullies, however they also bully others. The final type is a victim bully and his/her motive is to hurt others because at some point they were also bullied. Victims cannot always stand up for themselves, but most of the times their peers are the ones who ultimately fail them fail them.
