There are many people in the world that inspire me to become great. One of those many people are Damian Lillard. Damian Lillard is a professional basketball player for the Portland Trailblazers and is one of the team's all time great scorers. Lillard came into the league in 2013 been receiving accolades ever since. Today I will be talking about why he inspires me, and what makes him such a great inspiration to people all across the United States.

Your dreams of being someone may not turn out the way you think they will. The documentary Hoop Dreams is a story about two boys from the ghetto that want to play in the NBA. Arthur ¨Man”Agee goes to Marshalls and William Gates goes to St. Joseph’s which are both situated in Illinois, where their dreams of becoming a pro basketball player vanished. Both of the boys face obstacles that are outside of themselves. Arthur´s family struggled with money, education, and pressure from others hurts him. Also, William struggled with balancing his family with basketball, the pressure from others, and education.

Helene Melanie Lebel, one of two daughters born to a Jewish family, was raised as a Catholic in Vienna. Her father died during World War I when Helene was only 5 years old, and when Helene was 15, her mother remarried. Helene entered law school, but at age 19, she started showing signs of an illness. By 1935, her illness became so bad severe that she had to give up her law studies. Helene was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and was placed in Vienna’s Steinhof Psychiatric Hospital. Although her condition improved in 1940, Helene was forced to stay in Steinhof. Her parents believed she would soon be released, but in August, her mother was informed that Helene was transferred to Niedernhart. She was actually transported to Brandenburg, Germany where she was led into a gas chamber or room? disguised as a shower room, and was gassed to death. Helene was listed as dying in her room of “acute schizophrenic excitement”.

Mary escaped from a penal colony which often is a remote place to escape from and is a place for prisoners to be separated. The fact that Bryant escaped from Australia suggests that she was a very courageous person, this was a trait most convicts seemed to loose once they were sentenced to transportation. This made her unique using the convicts.

When Michael Jordan was attending Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina nobody thought that he would ever turn out to be the player he is today let alone make it to the NBA. In fact, James Jordan, Michael’s father, actually thought that Michael’s best sport was baseball. His high school didn’t think he was so great at basketball either so they cut him from the varsity team when he was a sophomore.
Stephen Curry, currently one of the best players in the NBA, experienced an obstacle when he was not to a top college. Rather than seeing this as an end to his NBA dreams, he overcame this obstacle by turning it in to an opportunity. As a member of the Davidson College team, the underdogs at the 2008 NCAA tournament, he was able to demonstrate his skills during his teams dream run to the final 8. Through his shooting prowess and never give up mentality he showed the basketball world his ability to change the course of a game. Had he not been challenged by this obstacle he may not have had the opportunity to demonstrate his skills, with this opportunity acting as a catalyst for many more in the future.

Our imagination turned a mound of dirt into a native village. Janelle Makela is my closest friend and aunt. Since we are only nine months apart, we did lots of crazy things, almost insane, especially when we were younger. Janelle has been a positive influence to me by our adventures when we were younger, our amazing cooking skills, and making anyone smile when anybody is feeling low.
The great life of Brandon Richard Bento-Jackson began on April 12, 2005 in San Jose, California when his parents first knew a baller was born. As a child, Brandon was an all-around kid, learning that he loved to listen to music, draw, but most of all play basketball. He grew a passion for basketball at a very young age. His parents got him a mini hoop when he was 4 and that became his new favorite toy, playing on it every day. Since his mom and dad both played college basketball, once Brandon was old enough to start getting serious with basketball, he was pushed very hard to reach his full potential.
