Who do you consider the greatest genius of history? In answer to such question, one can think of Mozart, Galileo, or even Einstein. However, in my opinion the greatest mind of history is Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci is recognized around the globe as a great artist, but he was not just an artist, he was an engineer and a scientist. Da Vinci was born in Vinci in the Republic of Florence, now located in Italy, in April 15th, 1452. Da Vinci is known for setting the foundation for High Renaissance style in drawing, painting, sculpture, and architecture. Little is known about the early life of such genius because he made very few notations about his youth in his notebooks, and also, because the first biography created in order to praise his life was only done thirty years after his death in May 2nd, 1519. In addition, there are many secrets and mysteries that revolve around Da Vinci due to the lack of knowledge about his personal life. Many historians presume that Da Vinci was a part of the Freemasons because of the many symbols and religious ties of his works, such that recently a fiction book explored the different possibilities of meanings to these great mysteries. This book, “The Da Vinci Code” by Dan Brown, exposed the work of Da Vinci under a different light that before was not noted to most part of his public. Although it is uncertain the accuracy of those speculations, this book made the world look at Da Vinci as more than just a great artist. For instance, before the paintings “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper” were seen only as good pieces of art, but now the world sees the mysteries and techniques used by him.

...ortions. This drawing also emphasizes the value of the combination of science, art, and mathematics in the life of this great genius. Therefore, I believe that he should be considered the great genius of all times for his ability to combine elements to create magnificent pieces.
Although some might say that he is not the greatest genius of history, they should take in consideration the amount of skills necessary to achieve half of what Da Vinci achieved in such a yearly period of time, where the use of technology was simply inexistent. Da Vinci was a great mind that continues to surprise the world everyday with the mysteries of his paintings, and with the intelligence of his knowledge about engineering and science. Therefore, I believe that Leornardo Da Vinci is the most intelligent, well-rounded, and sensitive to the world that surrounds us, genius of all times.
The Italian Renaissance was full of brilliant and gifted artists, scientists and inventors but Leonardo da Vinci was the most omniscient of them all. For someone who was able to obtain the amount of knowledge that he knew and to associate all of his works with each other is beyond extraordinary and he is considered one of the smartest people of all time.
From the fourteenth to the seventeenth century the Renaissance transformed European culture and society. Many classical texts resurfaced and new scientific techniques arose. To many, Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most important figures in Renaissance history. He was given the name “Renaissance Man” because of his large role and impact. He had a large list of interests that spanned from science, art, anatomy, architecture, and mathematics. All of which were fundamental components that shaped the Renaissance era into what we know it as today.
These paintings are famous for a variety of qualities which have been much imitated by students and discussed at great length by aficionados and critics (“Leonardo Da Vinci.” Biography Online.) Among the qualities that make Leonardo's work unique are the innovative techniques which he used in laying on the paint, and his detailed knowledge of anatomy, light, botany and geology. These combined with his interest in physiognomy and the way in which humans register emotion in expression and gesture and his innovative use of the human form in figurative composition, blend with subtle gradation of tone (“Simplifying a Genius.”). All these techniques are evident his most famous painted works: the Mona Lisa, the Last Supper and the Virgin of the Rocks (“The Secret Revealed: How to Look at Italian Renaissance Painting.”
Most people know Leonardo da Vinci as only the painter of the Mona Lisa, but he did much, much more. He was born on April 15, 1452. There are many misconceptions about Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo da Vinci was a Humanist who regularly challenged the church. Da Vinci is arguably the smartest man to live in his time.
Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the greatest minds of his time. Most will remember him for his many masterpieces including The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and The Vitruvian Man. But he did more than just draw works of art; he was also an inventor and a mathematician who studied a large variety of subjects. Leonardo’s life is more fascinating than any one man could imagine. He may be dead, but his work still lives on.

Most people do not realize that a parachute and the Mona Lisa have one common factor—Leonardo da Vinci. In these two exquisite works of art or shall we call them the grand masterpieces of their era’s. Both Jacques-Louis David’s The Death of Marat and Michelangelo’s Pieta flawlessly reflects the untimely deaths of two significant figures that we know of today. The two figures comprised of Jesus Christ in Michelangelo’s Pieta and Jean-Paul Marat in Jacques-Louis David’s The Death of Marat. In the two pieces, we see that the pair of artists portrays the figures in a divine and yet virtuous way. One work of art almost mimicking the other, yet there is still some differences between the characteristics of each piece still making it its own individual self. In the following paragraphs, we will be diving deeper into the similarities and differences
It is said that the academics of Leonardo’s time did not take into consideration his work in any other field than painting, because he did not have a formal education. Instead he had developed an important attitude at a young age towards his critics, where he wrote “I cannot quote from eminent authors as they can, these trumpeters and reciters of the works of others. I know that all knowledge is vain and full of error when it is not born of experience, and so experience will be my mistress”. Leonardo da Vinci was a mysterious man who most definitely left his impact on the world, his time and modern time. A lot of people say Leonardo was a genius others say he was a complete mastermind who was ahead of his time, one thing for sure is that he was very talented.
Clearly, the piece is not in its original form, nor was it even twenty years after completion. However, due to the concern, care, diligence, and expertise of many art lovers, there remains at least a remnant of da Vinci’s masterpiece to be studied and enjoyed by future scholars and visitor.
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most well-known geniuses in human history. This man masters knowledge of all kind: painting, architecture, music, geology, philosophy, biology, math, physics, chemistry, etc. His probably most famous painting, Mona Lisa, fascinated millions of people around the world and the amazing and mysterious details in the painting attracted a number of scientists and scholars to devote their whole career in studying them. Born and lived in Italian Renaissance age, which is a period of time when arts flourished and knowledge was valued, Leonardo was surrounded by many great contemporary artists and a perfect creative environment. These favorable factors supported him to fully exercise his talents.
Leonardo Da Vinci is a famed artist today due to his renowned painting of the ‘Mona Lisa’. In the 14th century, people of Venice would have known him as an engineer, people of Milan would have known him for his Last Supper, but only the people of Florence would have seen his whole character. Da Vinci is known as the archetypal Renaissance man, a man of “unquenchable curiosity” and “feverishly inventive imagination”. Da Vinci created many technologies and new innovations which were so advanced for his time and age that many scholars did not believe him. He contributed to civilisation through three main areas: art, science and engineering.
Genius can be divided into two subclasses: artistic and scientific. In terms of arts, someone is called a genius if he or she designs a thing that nobody could think of yet. Michelangelo is one of the genius artists who designed a sketch of a helicopter before it was invented. At a young age, Salvadore Dali had an exceptional ability and produced paintings that were different from other people's, who were the same age as he. Moreover, a person who is a genius in science can produce a theory that changes the world and is beneficial to others. Besides Albert Einstein, Thomas Alva Edison, an American inventor, is one of the greatest geniuses and inventors of all time. Edison began to work at an early age and continued to work right up until his death.
