Cynotia Brown was not an average sixteen year old girl. Cynotia was the complex child. She was that little girl that everyone dreamed on having and would love to have. But, she had many things happen to her when she was a child. She faced many challenges growing up. She would step out of a situation and be right in another one, but she allowed herself to do it. Her adoptive mother Ellenette says she was manipulative & possesive over the relationships she had with other people. Cynotia didn’t want Ellenette getting close with anyone but her. But, Cynotia had trust issues and she didn’t allow Ellenette getting involved in her life. When Gina first got pregnant with Cynotia, no one realized that she was pregnant until she was in the hospital having …show more content…
Cynotia. That is when she called Ellenette and asked if she would take care of her & that is what happened until she got in trouble with that law. Secondly, Cynotia was with a man formerly known on the streets as “Kutthroat”, he sexually abused Cynotia but, she was worried that if she left him that he would harm her mother.
Kutthroats real name is Garion. One day, he told her to go make him some money, so she walked to sonic looking for a ride & meant this guy named Johnny Allen. Before, Cynotia meant up with him she was going to find a ride to Tennessee & prostitute for money. But her & Johnny agreed on 150$ for sex. Johnny mentioned that he would drive back to his place so that they could do it there. When Cynotia first arrived, Johnny was acting strange & showed her his gun collection. When Johnny was reaching for something across the floor when he was on the bed, Cynotia thought it was a gun, so she shot him in the head. She thought he was gonna rape or murder …show more content…
her. Next, it was time for Cynotia Brown’s criminal trial. She has already been in jail for awhile now. BUT, this trial will determine if she pleads guilty or if she’s innocent of any charges. Her criminal trial lasts 5 days. The jury finds Cynotia Brown guilty of 1st degree murder, count 2 guilty of felony murder, & guilty of robbery as well. She is sentenced to life in prison. She will not be up for parole until she is 69 years old. Then, I have to say Cynotia really did keep it together while she was in jail.
She knew her mistake and what she had done. But she says she continues to fight for her freedom everyday and that her case will be reviewed again. She may of broke down and cried, but who wouldn’t? All she wants for her mom to move on from everything and live her own life. Cynotia wants to serve her time and get out. Finally, this will affect Cynotia Brown for the rest of her life on this earth. She won’t be able to get a car, own a house, get a good paying job, etc. She won’t be like the rest of us and live out a good life because of one mistake that happened when she was a teenager. She will be able to go back home with her mom if she gets out in time. Hopefully, she does something with her life after she gets out. One mistake can make anything good go away for good. Include my opinion on the justice in this situation; I feel as if justice wasn’t served. Cynotia didn’t intentionally kill Johnny and they sentenced her to life in prison. I don’t see how that is fair. But I do believe that the evidence stands where it stands. I feel if they tried her as a juvenile and not as an adult, it wouldn’t of been so

In the book Between Shades of Gray Ona is a character who is placed in the book to create emotion and a demonstration of motherly grace. One very important way they create These things with her in this book is by using her baby in the equation. As soon as her baby was born she had soviet soldiers stuff her and her baby into a cattle car full of people to take them to who knows where. On this trip in the cattle car no one expected the baby to live and right they were. Once the baby had died Ona was grieving over the child's death by “ Being very quite and not celebrating when they find out the germans were in lithuania!” (Sepetys 69). This adds great emotion and shows great motherly grace in the book by connecting with the people who are reading
In the Lilies of the Field by William E. Barrett, Homer and Mother Maria both display straightforward, hardworking, and stubborn character traits. Firstly, Homer and Mother Maria both display a straightforward personality by being brutally honest about their opinions. For example, when Mother Maria asks Homer to build a chapel, Homer speaks his mind by telling her he does not want to build it. Mother Maria shows her straightforward behavior during Homer’s stay at the convent. One morning, when Homer sleeps in late, Mother to becomes extremely upset and is not afraid to show how she feels about him. Secondly, both Homer and Mother Maria display a hardworking spirit. Homer is a hardworking man because after finally agreeing to build the chapel,
They found Casey Anthony, who was charged with first degree murder of her 3-year-old, not guilty. While she was not guilty of murder, she was convicted on counts four through seven for false information given to the police. The judge sentenced her to one year in county jail for each one of the four counts, but she was released 10 days after she received 1043 days credit. If I was part of the jury I would have said she was guilty of murdering her daughter. Even if she did not kill her, she is still part of the reason why she died. Casey neglected her child either way and did not report the crime to the police until someone else did. I am shocked that the visual evidence did not convince the jury that she was guilty. From the strand of hair in the trunk that matched the past child’s hair, to the extensive research on chloroform found on all web browsers, it was very evident that she did or was at least part of murdering her
My concern is what made the court decide that Alanza Thomas deserved to be tried as an adult with no past criminal record. I believe that the appropriate sentencing for Alanza would have been probation and detention because in this way, the courts can monitor the juvenile as well as make him “pay” for what he has done. I feel like the detention he should have received should have been juvenile where they provide intervention programs for problem children experiencing behavioral problems. At a detention home, the juvenile will at least spend their days receiving counseling, individual therapy, and learning how to with fellow peers and
As juror number one, I had to research why Johnny should, or should not be tried for the murder of Bob Sheldon, the Soc. I also had to research murder among teens and what happened during the killing of Bob Sheldon. During my research, I found that murder was considered a premeditated killing, and I also found that Johnny can only be tried for murder in Connecticut, New York, and North Carolina because of his age. Johnny was planning on saving, Ponyboy Curtis, who at the time was being drowned by David, the Soc Bob had told him to “give Ponyboy a bath.” In trying to save Ponyboy he pulled out his pocket knife and stabbed Bob Sheldon in the back therefore causing David to release Ponyboy and flee the scene. After finding that information I also found that Bob Sheldon and his group of friends had stopped their car on The Greasers side of town and got out to show them a lesson for taking out their girls. ...
Most people don 't look at every aspect of a crime. They don 't think about everyone that was affected, other than the victim. In her article "On Punishment and Teen Killers", Jennifer Jenkins explains how her younger sister was taken from her by a murderer who shot and killed her. In her article she states, "So few who work on the juvenile offender side can truly understand what the victims of their crimes sometimes go through. Some never recover." Jenkins is explaining her personal experience of losing her younger sister to help others understand what the families of the victim have to deal with for the rest of their lives. She brings a point of view that most people have never been in because they 've never experienced what it 's like to have a loved one taken away from you by murder. In her story she also states, "If brain development were the reason, then teens would kill at roughly the same rates all over the world." Many people believe that the supreme court needs to be more lenient on juveniles because their brain is not fully developed as that of an adult, but brain development cannot be used as an excuse because as Jenkins explains, the teens would be killing at the same rate all over the world. Jenkins also brings up a good point about how the US as a whole needs to step up to prevent these crimes from happening. Jenkins states, "We in America have to own to this particular problem, with weapons so easily available to our youth, and the violence-loving culture we raise them. She is trying to bring awareness to society that America is also at fault for these crimes. Furthermore, she also explains why life sentencing is not as cruel as some may feel it is when she says, "… a life sentencing still allows a great deal of good living to be done, even from behind bars, far more than these teen killers gave to our murdered love
Cyrano De Bergerac is an inspiring play based on a tragic love. The characters are revealed within unique backgrounds, creating life and depth between our imaginations. There are a variety of important characters throughout the play besides Cyrano De Bergerac. The play consists of more important characters than Christian De Neuvillette, although he is the most admirable. Three admirable qualities that Christian possessed are courtesy, modesty and bravery.
The play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry has many interesting characters. In my opinion, the most fascinating character is Ruth because of her many emotions and captivating personality. She goes through extreme emotions in the play such as happiness, sadness, anger, stress, and confusion. Ruth is very independent, firm, kind, witty, and loving.
The other kids should be given half a year in prison because they played a role in Sylvia’s death, and they should learn that this kind of behavior is wrong. Murder is the crime of unlawfully killing a person. While I might not agree with the charges brought against the accused killers, I do know that this was murder. Sylvia Likens was killed, but she did not die in vain. She lives on as a reminder of the abuse that goes on in our country today.
Anthony Doerr’s novel All the Light We Cannot See shows the reader how children would deal with war and how it shaped who they are today. Doerr’s purpose for writing this novel is to highlight how mentally taxing the war was and that there was no permanent escape from the war. Both Marie-Laure and Werner believed they could escape the war both physically and mentally, yet their involvement in it makes it more difficult. Marie-Laure’s fear of her father going to jail shows how she becomes involved in the war. Werner struggled with trying to escape the war through his fascination with radios when it just brought him further into the war. After understanding the effect on certain individuals; the story zooms out showing how the majority
Overall, The Sakia Gunn story was extremely heart breaking for me to watch. I honestly fought back tears as I watched it with the class. The fact that Sakia was murder because she was lesbian is disturbing in itself but watching and learning that she was only fifteen years old and killed by a grown man approximately thirty years old and at least twice her size made this even more disturbing. I feel like McCullough did not receive enough prison time to his sentence. Twenty years is way too easy for him. He deserved life in prison at the least. McCullough made a decision to murder Sakia Gunn, a five foot three-inch-tall teenager and his family and defense attorney kept saying he made a mistake. Not only was McCullough wrong for propositioning teenage girls, but he could have easily avoided this “mistake” by taking no as an answer. The only good that came out of Sakia’s murder was that it sparked a Lesbian,
Guilty! As the gavel hits the sound block, everyone is amazed at the verdict. This teenage boy is sentenced to a life in prison without parole. As you read this in newspapers, magazines, and even online, what goes through your head? You may be thinking, “Why is this teen being tried as adult, he is just a kid?” While he is “just a kid”, and this is a widely held opinion, but it is not mine. Should minors who commit violent crimes be tried as adults? Absolutely. Just because minors are young they do have the ability to know what is right from wrong. Since these minors have committed the crime, they need to be held accountable. If a minor has acted as an adult, they need to be treated like adults. Lastly, minors need to know that their actions have consequences, no matter what age.
Cyntoia Brown was 16 years old when her life took a drastic change that would place long-term consequences in front of her. Cyntoia brown was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, which in total she would be facing fifty-one years. In this essay I would like to express some key concepts like her past life and childhood, her phase of delinquency, and how she is today.
Noah is the one of the main characters of The Notebook. He is the hero of this novel. Noah represents true love and true loyalty. In a way, The Notebook is similar to every modern day romance movie, and Noah represents the “dream man” that all the girls always imagine of having. The characters in movies are used to symbolize ideas, and in this novel, Noah represents true, faithful, committed love. Noah remains loyal to Allie even in the situation where he is unsure whether they will ever meet again or not.
...cy’s life on that fateful night. The man told me something along the lines of “Had we not stopped, Stacy would have lain on the ground for about 5 minutes, woken up, walked back home to Justin, and been beaten even more” Then he told me something that took me a moment to comprehend. “Stacy is pregnant and had been basically drinking herself and the baby to death. Although there is a bright side, Stacy sobered up and confessed to Justin’s abuse and now has a recovery plan and wants to start up a new life.”
