Introduction
In this report I will be talking about the impact that social media can have on the industry. There are many advantages and disadvantages of social media. The one of the disadvantages I am going to discussing in this report is bullying. I will be talking about what effects social media can have on bullying, which can be a big issue in this generation because social media is really popular and sites like Facebook, Twitter have more than a million people using it on common bases. Oppose to that there are many advantages social media can have like it can be used to promoting a business, but the main focus on this article is to get my point across.
How bullying relates to social media
There are many issues which can be discussed on how social media can be the effect of bullying. An example of this is cyberbullying. There are many ways in which bullying can occur, like for example it can occur in things like blogs and an example of a social networking site which people can bully people is sites like Facebook, Twitter etc. which are frequently used by millions of people around the world on a daily basis. ‘The only way to get knowledge about when people get bullied is by speaking to the people who have experienced it. Cyberbullying can also be experienced when working for an employer, the employee might not know that the people in the workplace are making negative comments written about him/her on social networking site like Facebook’. The effects of being bullied could also lead to depression. Another fact which I can provide about cyberbullying is that “Around half of teens have been the victims of cyber bullying” Cyberbullying (UCAS). this is a true fact because in this generation kids are more exposed to android devices...

The definition of bullying uses broad statements to define the actual meaning. Because of this, people may view the definition differently than others. Bullying can range from physical violence to verbal abuse to even cyberbullying. Most people do not realize how common cyberbullying actually is. Over half of teens and adolescents have been bullied online and almost the same number have engaged in the bullying (“Cyber Bullying Statistics”). Social media can cause some great trouble for some people. Some people can become bullies over the internet, while others are the innocent victims for these emotionless

While this research gave her a very detailed insight into how social media can have a positive effect on younger people by improving social interactivity it also revealed that when a child is bullied on social media it can have an extremely injurious effect on their mental health. She feels that with the presence facebook especially, it leads to narcissism antisocial tendencies and aggression, while overuse cases anxiety and depression. The two main causes of anxiety and depression due to social media are researched to be bullying and unrealistic expectations such as unrealistic looks, weight and valuables. When teenagers, especially females, see these unrealistic expectations and understand that it is unreasonable to achieve these so called desirable factors they put an immense amount of pressure on themselves as they feel that they aren 't good enough which causes anxiety and depression (Sternberg Clinic, 2015). Another major negative impact that social media can have on an young individual 's mental health when used excessively is impacting the quality of students school work and overall performance. Teens are masters at keeping themselves occupied in the hours after school and way past their bedtime, which results in them not attempting to complete their homework. With all the new networking site it makes it easier for bullies to target their victims. Kids don’t understand when they reach a certain limit it can trigger the young kids mind to commit suicide. Bullying and suicide have a huge connection between the two. Getting bullied at school is one thing getting bullied on social media is another, there are more people that can see if they post public. Getting made fun of on social media can make the other kid sensitive and can get to them to the point where they cannot take it anymore. If kids have easy access to get online it is easy for them to find their victim, now a day kids know how to work the new websites. Among average 61% have received mean or embarrassing posts online and 59% have received mean texts, e-mails or instant messages (Anderson, Bresnahan, & Musatics, 2014). It is easier to bully on social media then is at school or anywhere else. Embarrassing pictures or even inappropriate pictures of the victim can be uploaded by the bully leading to embarrassment for everyone to see. It is much easier to be behind a screen not being face to face to attack with harsh word, or whatever it is to embarrass the kid. There are many types of bullying one of them is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying had become very popular now and days. This type of bullying takes place on the internet, via text, or any multimedia device. ‘’Cyber bullying often possesses the absence of these traits and it may be linked to the flexibility of online media, which can lead students to play the roles of bullies, victims, and witnesses interchangeably’’ (Quillen 8). This is when someone is being teased at, or named called or even threatened by emails, text messages, or any social media. Some bullies tease others in social media by posting pictures of other kids and making fun of them or by writing comments
This research paper is going to be about how social media impacts an individual. Then it is going to be about how much of an impact it has on businesses. Afterwards, we are going to go over the pros and the cons of social media in society. Then this research paper is going to conclude on where social media is heading towards in the near future and so on. Social media can impact the life of an individual at many levels.
Facebook and other social media platforms have brought communication across the world to a whole new level. The rise of social media has created a place for children to communicate with others in both a positive and negative manner. Although it has made a positive impact on American youth, it has also contributed and exacerbated bullying in our schools. This new form of bullying, often referred to as cyberbullying, has created an around-the-clock atmosphere where bullying can occur even when school is not in session. Many professionals have sought to address the negative aspects of social media and have worked to develop a solution to bring cyberbullying to an end.
How often do you or anyone you know get cyberbullied and report that it is happening to an adult? Cyberbullying has become a massive issue in the United States ever since technology has become popular. A majority of the people in the United States will not admit that they are or have been cyberbullied. Due to the lack of people speaking up and telling someone that they are being cyberbullied, people everywhere are not getting the assistance and support that they need to get it to stop.
Cyber bullying is a huge problem in the USA, so why not stop it now by making it a criminal offense? Cyberbullying should be a criminal offense because whether it’s bullying or cyberbullying, it still damages a person emotionally and physically. It should also be a criminal offense because kids, teens and even adults take their lives or lead a miserable one because of the harsh words of another person or group. Laws concerning cyberbullying tend to be vague, but with criminal offense, the government can crack down what exactly should be considered bullying and what will be punished, making things easier to regulate, and even ending cyberbullying once and for all. Cyberbullying is still a type of bullying that harms people, kills and scars their lives, and too strong for puny laws, but it can come to an end with criminal offense.

Social media bullying is becoming a growing problem, not only in the United States, but all around the world. Children can easily have access to the internet and social media sites and therefore say whatever they want to others in order to boost their self-esteem. In order to prevent social media bullying, children and parents must be aware of all internet dangers and also what children are capable of. Parents should monitor what their kids are saying and doing online and take action if they are not behaving in an appropriate way.
