Curley’s Wife Women have been discriminated at being equal as men. Before World War 2 women weren’t treated the same as men in a working matter, but when it begun and all the men enlisted to go fight women would prove themselves. Mice and Men is set before World War 2 when women discrimination was common, Curly’s wife is the only one in the book that can relate to this. In the book Curley’s Wife keeps entering at the wrong times. She Tries to flirt with each guy trying to get something out of it. Also considering she is the only female on the farm she can get lonely and quickly loose sight on how she should act. Curley’s Wife seems toffee like she has a lack of power on the Ranch. In the book you see her trying to assert dominance over characters in the book. For instance when Lennie is talking to Crooks she bombards into the room tearing down Crooks for his dream. In the book you see this is the only time she truly has power over somebody and takes full advantage of it. Curley isn't much of a help for her situation. Because she is extremely lonely she tries to find attention from the men on the Ranch, but Curley doesn't like that. Another reason for the men to be afraid is because Curley constantly threatens to beat whoever up that talks to his wife. This makes everybody not want to talk to her in fear of getting beat up or thrown off the Ranch. In the book Curly’s wife acts like she is the victim to everything that happens to her, But in all reality she does deserve some of the things happening to her. In the book she confronts George in the barn and tries to start flirting with him even though she knows Curly will hurt whoever talks to her. This creates more of the men on the farm to not wanting
