Each day, we face obscurities that either drive us forward, or make us stop dead in our tracks. Beside him on the ground is a rotary style telephone, which rings and ironically saves his life, becoming a literal lifeline. On the other end of the call is his estranged sister, Maggie, who has interrupted what was expected to be his final moments in life. She begs and pleads, convincing her brother that she needs him now, more than ever, to watch her young daughter, Sophia, while she takes care of something pressing. Gaining a half-witted smile, Richie agrees and quickly rushes to bandage up his wounds; his life, which had lost its purpose, exists in certainty again. Through a series of unexploited events, Christensen regain focus of his character’s lives, and re-centers their existence around each other.
