The book I picked to write my essay about is called Critical Perspectives on World War II. The reason I chose this book is I love history, you can learn a lot from history. History isn't a common favorite class. I love reading about the United States becoming one. “The 100 years of the 20th century is remembered for the best and the worst humanity mankind can produce.” Couple things it will be remembered for art, science, and technology. The world has grown so much from technology. Everyday life is filled with everyone being on their phone 24/7. As a nation we have forgotten the scars of war. During the World War II, 50 million people died as result of the war. “That is as if everyone in Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Arizona,Oregon,Colorado,
and Indiana.World War II is called by some the last good war. Later on in the book it talked about Adolf Hitler. How he crushed the German labour movement, and how property owning classes were willing to forgive him for almost everything. Hitler stated” I offer you struggle, danger and death,”and after that an entire nation flings itself at him. World War II saw the world fight to keep out from under Nazi boot heel of Germany. The war in Europe began in September 1939, when Germany, under Chancellor Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland. Britain and France responded by declaring war on Germany but took little action over the following months. The war in the Pacific began on December 7,1941 when warplanes from Japan launched a surprise attack on the U.S Navy base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After the Pearl Harbor attack, Japan began a massive campaign of expansion throughout the Southeast Asia-Pacific region. By this time, Japan had already been at war with China for several years and had seized the Chinese territory of Manchuria. Piece’s in this volume come from acclaimed writers such as George Orwell, Emie Pyle, Nora Waln. Speeches and the diaries of the warsaw Ghetto archivist Emanuel Ringelblum are also included. In conclusion the book I read was an amazing book. I learned a lot about World War II, that I didn’t know before. This has taught me more about Adolf Hitler. And, all the terrible things he has done. Hope you enjoyed my essay like I enjoyed the book.

World War II as a Good War The vast majority of Americans supported World War II (WWII) after Pearl Harbor was bombed, recognizing a fascist threat to Western democracy. WWII was a good war. It had the ability to unite America. They united against Nazism and fascism. But even a good War has its bad times.
World War II, the war for survival, shaped the history and landscape of the twentieth century permanently. As such, many wrote about the troubles and trials they had faced due to this war and in particular the actions of Germany. Excerpts taken from Sebastian Haffner, Christabel Bielenberg, and Leni Riefenstahl all help us understand the effect Germany had on it’s citizens, as well as foreign powers. While Haffner and Bielenberg denounce the Nazis, Riefenstahl writes in favor of them, thus demonstrating the discord in the nation at the time.
Anderson believes that Americans are good at remembering our wars, but we only remember the major wars that threatened our liberty, our freedom, or our values. Anderson says this is because we use them to remind ourselves of what sacrifice is. ...
As men and women serve this country we often forget the importance of what they did and how we give back to them for what they have experienced. Through student surveys that have been gathered, it has been proven in the course of knowledge that 80% of all thirty students surveyed that say they know of someone who is or was a veteran and only 57% of those Veterans receive help. Richelle E. Goodrich stated, “Have you ever stopped to ponder the amount of blood spilt, the volume of tears shed, the degree of pain and anguish endured, the number of noble men a...
From 1939 to 1945, World War II was fought between the Axis Powers and the Allied Powers. The three main Axis Powers were Germany, Italy, and Japan; and the main Allied Powers were England, Russia, France, and The United States. In the beginning of the war, America did not want to be involved in another country’s war, especially after the drastic damage from the First World War. Congress even passed a series of neutrality acts to keep America out of the war. However, the United States broke out of neutrality and joined the Allied side because the U.S. was indirectly involved in the war, protecting itself from being invaded by Axis powers, and had the sense of American moral obligation to obtrude on European affairs. It appears that the U.S.

For my book I chose to read The Body by Stephen King. This novel is about four young boys taking a journey to find a body somewhere in the woods that is at the county line. This story is about more than just four boys going on an adventure its about them becoming closer to each other and learning real life lessons along the way. The four boys are all going into their first year of middle school so this is a time in their life when they learn things that will help them in life.
From 1941, when the United States joined the war, to 1945 when they finished the war, American citizens stayed loyal and pushed through the hardship of WW2 gaining the title of “victor”. With this victory the United States of America suffered losses in deaths and suffering that will always be remembered throughout society. The men, women, and children that changed the United States forever during World War 2 will now and forever have a special place in the heart of America. And be remembered as the “greatest
World War 2 was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945.World War 2 was the deadliest conflict in human history. 50 to 85 million fatalities, most of which were civilians in the Soviet Union and China. It included massacres, the deliberate genocide of the Holocaust, starving, disease and first use of nuclear weapons in history. The Empire of Japan aimed to dominate Asia and the Pacific was already at war with the Republic of China in 1937.Although the world war is generally said to have begun on September 1 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Nazis.
World War II was the most significant period in the 20th century. The armies of the Second World War were usually large organizations. The formation of which was made possible by the total war efforts of the combatant nations. Holding unceasing front lines in Europe, particularly in the Soviet Union, required the mobilization of hundreds of divisions in addition to other elements by both sides. (Wilson, 2002)
Wars have occurred in the past numerous times because of different things, such as fighting for land, reforms, or just hatred for one another. After wars, a treaty is signed or agreements are made; for example, the treaty of Versailles was signed after World War I. Different events and battles occur during wars as well in order to win the war or to take control. During the American Revolutionary war, battles between the American and the British took place primarily in the 13 Colonies, which were controlled by the British, and the Americans fought for their independence. The Americans eventually won their independence from the British. This is an example of a cause and effect of a war. There were multiple causes of World War II, which mainly included Hitler wanting to conquer all of Europe and make it his own, and Germany, Italy, and Japan conquering their neighbors (Ellis and Esler, 925-929). After World War II , Germany, Japan, and the Allies learned to get along after multiple events of the Second World War and this still affects the world today.
This century has been one of many changes and incredible inventions. If a person was to think about it, this century has taken us from horseback to fuel-injected horsepower, from gaslights to sodium-vapor streetlights, from crystal radios to digital television, from compasses to GPS navigation systems, from wood burning stoves to microwave ovens, from Victrolas to DVD players and of course from hot air balloons to jet propulsion aircraft.
Even when the war is over, it leaves behind some serious repercussions for people to deal with. War veterans need both psychological and physical care due to the impact of war. Soldiers and civilians who had live through war often witnessed terrible things, which can leave deep emotional scars. Most of them developing psychological problems if not proper psychological care is given. Civilians have to deal to the devastating after effects of war, which includes destroyed and damage to infrastructures
