The Ugly Truth About Religion
If you were raised in a Catholic household, at some point your catechism instructor will question you regarding your faith.
"Have you heard about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?" she'll inquire.
You must proceed to respond with caution. The best technique is to respond with a simple, “Yes,” to avoid further questioning, then take refuge in the arms of he who judges none ― Satan. Trust me, this is the easiest way out. Because you will never come up with the right answer.
The problem is that religious people generally do not think of the logic behind their faith in the same way that nonreligious people do. Most nonreligious people form an opinion of the logical fallacies of religions in the ninth grade,

There are many complex scientific and logical reasons, by which I would address those who believe in Adam and Eve with one word, "Think." Many religious people grow up hearing that evolution did not occur, because Adam and Eve miraculously sprung from the ground as the first humans: genius. Certain about the origin of life, religious people live their life hoping to be welcomed into heaven by Jesus . . . excuse me, after being prayed out of purgatory. Most religious people treasure religious artifacts. For example, my mom is fond of crucifixes, believing that, by hanging one above each doorway, she creates a “cucuy” repellent. You could imagine her asking me, "Do you think your room has enough …show more content…
I once attended Tuesday catechism wherein my apparently sin-free instructor spoke about the deadly sins. She addressed the made-up Seven Deadly Sins, ranging from laziness to pride, stressing the importance of avoiding gluttony. Most church members attempt to uphold such expectations, even though it is obvious to any sane observer that no matter how little food they digest or how productive one may be, they will never be granted a free admission ticket into the wizarding world of God, who is some kind of overrated myth.
I'm not saying that science-based people are superior. I'm just saying that you're not going to get a group of intellectuals to sit in a room and pray with the guidance of Pope Francis, in hopes of becoming more holy like him. People would realize that this task was pointless and demeaning. They would find some way to lead a decent life that did not require living like Pope Francis, confined in the Vatican and to God’s word. They would say to the Pope, "Oh YEAH? Well what do you know about the Schwarzschild radius? How about nuclear
The two essays, Splintered Literacies and Writing in Sacred Spaces, both revolve around the inherent “why” of storytelling. Each addresses a different facet, with the former delving into how the types and varieties of writing we experience affect our identities. Meanwhile, the latter explores the idea of thought concretization. Humanity developed writing as a tool to capture the otherwise intangible. Whether belief or abstract concept, the act of putting something in writing creates a concreteness, trapping the thought in a jar like a firefly. The thoughts and ideas we manifest onto the page or into the air give life to our knowledge, perpetuating its’ existence.
Religious Repression In what ways do countries differing religions affect our ever changing society? Does our diversity, combined with our lack of resources and overpopulation, ensure constant violence? I believe that the religious persecution of certain nations has been nothing more than denial of a human right. In Brave New World, Huxley predicts an all powerful government: “the world state”.
Religion should not be something in which we question its validity and the practice of it. Most, if not all, major religions have too many contradictions for my personal taste. Although my parents remain Catholics who believe that their religion is superior to the other religions, I respect their views. I, on the other hand, select to rely on and trust the moral behaviors of people as a way to live by and be the most ethical person I can be.
For the layman, familiarity with the major religions stems from the stories that are associated with them. Using the narratives that are derived from the sacred texts is the most prominent way in which our society identifies the Western religions. The Jewish tradition is best correlated to stories like the Exodus and the parting of the Red Seas, for example, as are the many tales of the miracles of Jesus connected to Christianity. This essay will present narratives as an easy method of providing the basic groundwork for the Western religious traditions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam because of their simplicity and easily transmittable nature. Furthermore, narratives impart many of the rules, laws, and moral fundamentals for these faiths, and are used by religious writers as a novel method of initiating discussion or providing a parallel for other narratives.
For many people, religion is a very touchy subject. For most, it is a personal decision; people choose a faith that aligns with their beliefs, ideas, and faiths. Although people would like to think that religion is a personal decision, and they can adapt it to how they feel and what they believe, in practice, that is not the case. Religion represents a commitment to a set of principles that are not moldable, adaptable, or flexible. Religion, although it may be a personal belief, it is extremely defined, with little to no room for flexibility. If people try to modify their religion to their own beliefs or ideas, the pushback can be severe. The lines in religion and faith as to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable are clear, and crossing them can bring serious consequences.

Throughout the course of history, man has looked to religion for answers. Curiosity as to how we got here and why we are have driven people to seek out answers to these somewhat unanswerable questions. Over the past few thousand years, several varying religions have been established, some more prominent than others. Many of them share a similar story of a divine creator who has always been and will always be. In the case of Christianity, whether true or not, it has proven to be beneficial to society as a whole. The Bible set the standard for the moral compass that humans live their lives by to this day. The key fundamental problem with religion, although not the fault of religion, is that man has often used it as a gateway to power and prominence. In the case of the 18th century Gallican church, the French were abusing their religious powers, thus creating vast inequality throughout France, which eventually led to a rebellion against the church, and the eventual destruction of the church within France.
It was a dark, cold, cloudy day. The clouds covered the sky like a big black sheet, nothing to be seen except darkness that seemed to go on forever. This was the third day in a row that there had been complete darkness, there was no getting rid of it. This was because of ‘the meteorite.’
It seems as if the non-religious reasons were more difficult to apply in everyday life than the religious reasons are. Let us consider morals: They were once explained by religion, but today we can argue for similar morals without religious premises. However, it was not an easy way to find the arguments for such morals. Maybe it is similar with praying and giving to the poor and many other religious actions: That they are rational, independent of religious belief, but we simply do not yet know the reasons why they are rational, or these reasons are at least not commonly known. These reasons would be another interesting topic, certainly going far beyond the topic here discussed, but they are connected with the possibility of faith without
The religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are alike in many ways but they also share many differences. Judaism and Christianity use the bible in their holy scriptures, while Islam does not. Jesus Christ is a part of all three religions as Christianity and Islam developed from Judaism. Many believe that the three religions worship, pray to, and focus on the same god. They believe this as many of the prophets are they share much in common as they share many beliefs. However, the followers of the three religions pray differently and in different places. the religions believe that their god created the world and everything in the world. The three Abrahamic religions have different histories, yet they share many similarities and difference.
Every Sunday. Stares and disappointment. I sat with my grandmother at this big church. People would stare when they realized I didn't know the prayers or songs. I was trying to learn more about religion why did I feel so scared? Am I going to find where I belong? Will I have enough time? These are questions I sometimes have to ask myself. When I was little I explored many religions but now that i'm older I am frightened about faith.
As the sun slowly settled, darkness began to overcome the Earth. Sickness—had come. The sickness slowly but readily crept into each home. It was the Midnight Theft. The destructive plague stole during midnight—it stole lives. Deep in the heart of Tukenasville, people were dying, and the whole country was beginning to perish. The flowers withered as they bloomed. The mountain peaks crumbled under steer weight. Animals fled to holes to live out the final moments of their life. People were distraught, and chaos was invading every planet in the macrocosm. People called me Nikolaou Gonfalon. I was the last of the Warriors of Phos. Long ago, the Sisters of Moiré ordained my doomed fate. I tried to bargain with them to change it, but in the end, I captured them and locked them up in a repository on a cliff. I was to lead the expedition to find the cure for the Midnight Theft. That, however, was not the reason why I would go on this journey. My best friend, Tolem, was dying of a rare illness called Takigifeay. It was causing the slow built up of lactic acid on his bones. I knew that death would come to him soon. Legend spoke about a necklace that can bring life to anyone or thing. It was said to have been belonged to an Oceanian, one of the water people. The Lost Jade Necklace of Serenity was what it was called, and it could bring healing to the Earth. Nonetheless, it could be the obliteration of mankind, also. I began to pack since my journey was to start at that moment.
this is as I have learnt that Jews do this as a sign of respect, as
Religion began as a way to explain unfathomable gaps in understanding how the world and the things within it worked. It became a fundamental part of many lives because it gave the population faith and understanding as to why things functioned the way they did. Unexplainable events were concluded as the will of a higher being, as it was the simplest rational. Nonetheless, time has shifted, and with different ages comes change. However important they were when our kind had no other explanation for the universe or way to be governed; religious beliefs have become undermined by our development and advancement in the understanding of our morals and needs to provide order and reason: law.
Religion has screwed us up for a long time and we'd be better off without it. By "us" I mean Americans living in the 21st century. Without religions we would have fewer labels separating us from each other and we wouldn't hate Jews or Catholics or Muslims. If we didn't have religions, we wouldn't have to convert anyone or "save" anyone. If we didn't have religions, people could no longer get caught up in the fine lines of religious rightousness or be trapped in a double-standard morality. And most importantly, we would be truly free of religious engendered guilt that never quite goes away.
