Amelia and Jane were friends since they went to the same kindergarten in Rockville, Maryland. They lived close to each other and actually went to the same elementary, middle, and high schools together. Sadly, they happened to go different colleges but their colleges were both in the town where they lived, so they still get together and catch up on things on weekends. They share everything about their lives, and there is no secret between them. Not surprisingly, both Amelia and Jane started dating with guys in the fall semesters of their senior years. Jane majors in cell biology and genetics, and last year she went to the National Institutes of Health for a summer internship. She met Brad there and they started dating. Brad and his friend Eric both work at the NIH as post-doctoral researchers. Brad introduced his best friend, Eric, to Jane’s friend, Amelia. That was how two couples started double dating!
On a beautiful fall morning, the two couples planned to hang out together and have a relaxed weekend lunch in the Town Square of Rockville. Jane and Brad arrived early and chose to sit outside in the patio of Vino, their favorite Italian restaurant. As Jane and Brad took a seat and felt the fresh, cool autumn morning, Amelia and Eric entered the restaurant with smiling faces.
“Hi, there! How are you guys this morning?” said Eric.
“Just trying to enjoy the weather. How are you?” said Brad.
“Good. As usual,” Eric answered with his signature big smile.
“How’s your writing going, Amelia? I know you have been struggling with your dissertation paper. Poor Dear,” said Jane.
“You know me, Jane. I have been putting this off for a month and am finally getting into it! I guess I do not want to talk about my papers, at least during the week...

...is mutation had been discovered to have a strong association with lung cancer. What should Jane do with this secret? A lot of thoughts came across her mind.
“Should I take this secret to the grave? Should I tell Amelia about this? No… No… Should I confess what I did and apologize to Eric and let him know about his mutation? It could make a happy guy miserable for the rest of his life! I know Eric and Amelia are in a serious relationship. What if they get married and soon after Eric is diagnosed with lung cancer while Amelia finds out she is pregnant with their first baby? By the way, how can I help him quit smoking? Oh, I regret that I could not resist my hand reaching for his phone… What should I do now?”

The two, both dealing with the loss of someone tremendously important and close to them, would be better off supporting each other, but instead they break away from their bond and deal with the pain alone. Since “[Henry] and Marty hadn’t talked much since the funeral,” (Ford 9), “it made the hole in Henry’s life that much larger,” (Ford 9). Not too many years after Ethel’s death, and after awkward and unfamiliar encounters between father and son, Marty introduces his father to Samantha, Marty’s fiancée. Henry is overjoyed that Marty wants to show him a part of his life, and the three start to uncover Henry’s past, bringing them all closer. Finally restoring their bond, Marty and Henry find that it’s easier to cope with their loss of Ethel than to ignore the grief like they had

When she was a little girl, she understood the unequal between a man and a woman, and she dreamed of a day when things would be different. As she grew up, Amelia worked hard to make her dream come true. Amelia developed her personality by looking for adventure. She pledged to the boldness. She felt sad when she discovered there were the heroes of boys’ books, but not for girls in the library; however, when she read about a story of a courageous man, she wished that happened to her someday. So her teacher remarked of her, “Strive to get
Elisa Allen is working on her garden and she sees her husband, Henry, speaking with two men about selling his steers. The garden bed and the house are called to attention and it is pointed out that they are very clean and organized. Once the strangers leave, Henry comes over to her and politely praises her on how lovely the garden looks and then wishes that she would attend to the orchards in the same way. She at first is egger to help but realizes that he was joking. Henry says they should celebrate by going to town and jokingly suggests seeing a fight, to which Elisa turns down. Henry leaves and a wagon pulls up with a charming, yet uneducated, tinker. They joke about the ferocity of the dogs. He asks for work to pay to feed his self and Elisa denies that there is work for him to do. He notices the chrysanthemums and tells her that he has a client that wants to raise some. She suddenly is excited and begins to ready some plants for him to take with him, and she instructs him on how to take care of them. She expresses her passion and her connection to the flowers in a seductive manner, even to the point of wanting to have physical contact with the tinker. She refrains from touching. The tinker points out that it’s hard to feel that way when hungry. Elisa gives in and finds something for him to work on. As the tinker works, Elisa expresses her opinion that women can do that same kind of work he does, to which he says it would be to lo...

Whether it is because of the obligation, out of love, pity or kindness, Jane believes she visit Mrs. Reed and fulfill her last wishes. “Forgive me for my passionate language; I was a child then; eight, nine years have passed since that day.” (253) Putting the hardships behind her Jane gives her full apologies to Mrs.
The desolate atmosphere and the overall state of the café symbolize Miss Amelia herself. It’s apparent that both the house and Miss Amelia are isolated from the rest of the world. It’s stated that she never showed any affection towards men and chose to be a solitary person in the past, but her current state suggests that she didn’t necessarily chose to be that way. Something tragic must have happened to her in that house. The sadness and the loneliness of the town also allude to Miss Amelia’s depressed mood.

Located in the popular Yosemite National Park, Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in California. Every year, mother nature’s breathtaking beauty attracts millions of people from around the world. People hike for three long and fatiguing hours in anticipation of witnessing forceful water rushing down the steep mountain from 2,425 feet above. Last summer, my family and I backpacked through the Yosemite Falls Trail and I came to learn what a truly exhausting experience it is.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
I stared at the blinking cursor, unbelieving at what I had just done. I was indeed done; done with a paper I agonized over for 6 hours. The paper was due in a scant 4 hours and I had all week to do it. The radio had stopped working because my brother got on the Internet and thus cut off my connection. That was the least of my problems working on this paper. I got it done, though. My life changed with one trip of a teacher to the chalkboard and one phrase, narrative essay. God, I hate narrative essays.
It seems as if Jane has fallen out of love with Wilson. Wilson is the kind of guy who spends far too much time at work. He knows he should be spending more time at home, but just never could find the time to do so. During the course of their life, they had kids and did everything a normal f...
It was a dark, cold, cloudy day. The clouds covered the sky like a big black sheet, nothing to be seen except darkness that seemed to go on forever. This was the third day in a row that there had been complete darkness, there was no getting rid of it. This was because of ‘the meteorite.’
One of the most unique creatures are fish. As I am sitting here in my room, my fish are swimming about with not a care in the world. I wonder what it would feel like to be a fish.
