As I stumble among the dense underbrush, I spot a lethargic looking male. This brings me great shock, as I regularly visit this particular patch of overgrown forest as its raw and unkept beauty never fails to amaze me, yet I have never seen anyone else here. I watch him and notice he seems at home sitting about the patch of overgrown grass. In awe, I begin to gawk as dancing yellow petals fall from the bushes behind him, leaving him appearing to be godly. As questions flood my mind, I consider his stance as his body is positioned in an inattentive slump, full of arms and legs. Thoughtfully, I observe that it is the type of position that would make the average person look awkward and uncomfortable, but it suits him in such a manner that is captivating. Droplets of rain hold onto every piece of grass, making the ground around him sparkle and glisten in the green light that shines through the occasional parting in the leaves that shelter our heads. Although he looks in his element, his body, colours and features create such contrast. …show more content…
I do not doubt that he thinks this place is just as breathtaking as I do. His hair is the colour of the caramel bark holding up the trees that encircle us. Although, unlike the trees, his hair curls and bounces around his ears, bringing him to life in a way that most boys could not pull off but it seems to come naturally to him. His knees now folded into his chest as his face, full of remarkable strong features, rest upon them in a lopsided fashion, eyes now closed. His hands clutched around his legs, fingers and veins like a piece of art, each perfectly positioned. I wonder, what is his purpose here, yet my thoughts are once again interrupted by his raw
He appeals to the reader’s sense of humor and imagery. He almost immediately attracts the audience by an obscure account of his landscape in the second sentence.
“The power of imagination makes us infinite.” (John Muir). Both John Muir and William Wordsworth demonstrate this through their use of language as they describe nature scenes. John Muir studies nature and in his essay about locating the Calypso Borealis he uses scientific descriptions to grab his reader’s attention and to portray his excitement at finding the rare flower. William Wordsworth on the other hand shows his appreciation for the beauty of nature and its effect on a person’s emotions in the vivid visual descriptions that he gives of the daffodils in his poem ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud.’ Wordsworth with his appreciation of beauty and Muir through scientific descriptions provide an indication of the influence that nature has had on them as they capture their reader’s attention both emotionally and visually through their personal and unique use of tone, diction, syntax and vocabulary.
I can hear the hum of taxi cabs whizzing past me as I stand on the corner of the busy downtown street. New York City! I still can't believe that I'm here or that I'm staying here. Aunt Allison was so sweet to let me live in her place whilst she travels around south America. I step out onto the road when the traffic light changed from green to red.
Once upon a time, in a thick enchanting evergreen forest, lived a young man. He was tall but scrawny and his skin was a deep chestnut from spending his life with nature. His hair was assumed brown, but it was soaked in so much filth that it could be a red or even a blonde color. It was summertime and the lad was relaxing on a hammock he built with willow tree branches.
In the essay, A Literature of Place, Barry Lopez discusses the topic of the influence of nature. Lopez believes that “nature is critical to the development of a sense of morality and human identity.” A sunny day typically has a positive set off for your day, but it does much more than what you may be aware of. Lopez stated that the geography of your surroundings can influence many different aspects of your life, such as your imagination. By being aware of your surroundings and taking in everything that is around you, he describes how you will create a special relationship with the nature that you're surrounded by. And through that relationship you will feel a sense of belonging instead of feeling unwanted. A sense of belonging can get you
Beginning with our current and so far to what we have read the topics about biophilia, sustainable urban development, and that of sustainable transport, I can say I have so far learned more comprehensively about sustainability and the subsequent movement back toward a semblance of biophilia, then I have from all my previous schooling. Taking into account how many years it has been since that I’ve had to learn/relearn and also that of the generational gap of information encompassing these given topics, and with my knowledge (and/or lack thereof) may be sparse in consistency there certainly is a lack of usable knowledge from that of when I was in the earlier years (to ease confusion this refers to the levels of k-12) of schooling and that of the known usable knowledge now. To start this essay I will talk about the influences that were/are important in my education, what has/is the primary source to shape my education, and my past/present educational experiences.
James Henslin (2015) defines social location as “the corners in life that people occupy because of their place in a society” (p.2). Also it states that “sociologist look at how jobs, income, education, gender, race-ethnicity, and age affects people ideas and behavior.”(p.2).

Golden bright rings that gleam as they pierce through your soul; as beautiful as a sunset melting into the still black waters his pupils. Staring into them you could slip away into paradise. His face is pale marble lacking imperfection; flawless without a wrinkle or blemish. Those lips a soft pink full and supple enticing your flesh, and slowly drawing you in deeper with each and every word. Thick and dark his straight eyebrows give him a deep and mysterious expression. His thin stretched nose perfectly complements his strong jawline, and high cheek bones. Chocolate colored hair with fragments of sunburnt orange. His flowing locks are long enough to grasp within your hands; each strand soft and shiny. Wild and untamed his hair is like a tall never ending grass field. His body is like that of a Greek god...
Millennials desire and seek a sense of belonging within their environment. This emotional connection can be described through the use of several different terms: sense of place, sense of community, placemaking and place attachment. As a cohort, these young adults wish to identify with their surroundings, and feel like a member of their community because it provides emotional safety, personal connection and encourages personal relationships.
Standing on the balcony, I gazed at the darkened and starry sky above. Silence surrounded me as I took a glimpse at the deserted park before me. Memories bombarded my mind. As a young girl, the park was my favourite place to go. One cold winter’s night just like tonight as I looked upon the dark sky, I had decided to go for a walk. Wrapped up in my elegant scarlet red winter coat with gleaming black buttons descending down the front keeping away the winter chill. Wearing thick leggings as black as coal, leather boots lined with fur which kept my feet cozy.
Everyone has a special place that people will never forget. Sometimes it is because there were places that people experienced great joy or comfort. A special place represents peoples’ special memories either good or bad. Memory will following people whole life, and store people’s heart deeper. Good memory will coming all time. My special place and my memory is my grandparent’s house; my grandparent’s house practically is my second home. I would never forget that special place because of things going on my grandparent’s house, which is symbolized by my grandparent’s love.
It’s a beautiful morning, as my group of friends and I wake up, we hear the pounding and the thrashing of the water slamming on the moss covered granite rock, I go down the eroded leaf covered pathway to fetch water just like I would do every morning, the sun had just begun to rise, the mixture of scarlet red, orange, and a bleach-like yellow beaming against the hurried water of the river that led into the waterfall shone like flakes of gold floating on top of the whitening water. The serene environment of the surrounding rocks overlooking the waterfall, the ambience of water clashing against the granite, and the aroma of the white pine filling the forest is an awe inspiring experience to all who dare make their way down the narrow and lengthy
Fortunately, I wake every morning to the most beautiful sun lit house. I sit on my porch sipping coffee, while I drink in an atmosphere that steals my breath away. Rolling hills lay before me that undulate until they crash into golden purple mountains. Oh how they are covered in spectacular fauna, ever blooming foliage, and trees that are heavy with pungent fruit. Green it is always so green here at my house. Here where the air lays heavy and cool on my skin as does the striking rays of the sun upon my cheeks. I know in my soul why I choose to be here every day. Pocketed in all the nooks and crannies of these valleys and hills are stately homes, rich with architecture resplendent. Diversity is the palate here; ...
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
