It was 9:00 on a dark and dreary night in October when Mindy and Mandy crept slowly up the stairs to check on their little brother Max. Mandy was very upset over the fact of having to check on her little brother when she wanted to sleep. However, Mindy wanted to make sure he was asleep, and she dragged Mandy along for company.
“He’s supposed to be asleep! And he should be asleep by now! Why bother?!” Mandy complained as she dragged her black purse up the stairs. Mindy tried to ignore Mandy as she wondered about Max. He was probably fine, but her parents were very specific when they told her to keep an eye on Max.
Max had red hair with freckles spotted across his small face with a little voice that spoke softly. It was strange to think that someone like Max would make friends with Joe. Joe was silly and he was eight years old, four years older than Max. Joe had come over that night and had been acting silly. He was very upset when he had to go home.
“Look, it can’t hurt to check. Besides, what if he’s missing?” Mindy asked. Mindy and Mandy argued all the way up the long and rickety staircase expecting Max to be silently sleeping in his snug small room. They finally reached the top of the staircase where Max’s room was quietly waiting for them. When they entered, the room seemed very quiet and strangely musty. It seemed like as if no one had been there for years. Abandoned. Mindy quickly realized that Max was gone.
“Oh no!” Mindy stumbled, “Max is gone! What are we going to do?”. Mandy just shrugged. They both started to search the small bedroom. Mandy lazily yawned as Mindy looked for young Max. The stiff cold dust made Mindy sneeze. ACHOO!
Mindy stepped down the stairs . She walked with care and she tried to be gentle as the stairs squeaked. Mindy was slowly starting to get nervous. She knew that these stairs weren’t safe, and that they would fall apart at any time. Suddenly, some of the weak stairs crumbled underneath Mindy’s feet. Mindy ran up the stairs as fast as she could and back into Max’s room where Mandy was still searching. Mindy’s heart was beating at the speed of a mouse. Mindy was so busy calming down that she didn’t notice Mandy heading down the stairs.
getting and Mammy Sally and Nina were walking all day and they were very tired,
It is evident that Max tries to escape his reality and get lost in a world where he can find freedom from his complex troubles, much like every other child in the world today whom does not know how to deal with such chaotic and complicated thoughts. Max, unknowingly comes face to face with all his emotions through the lives of others, helping him to come to an understanding in his escape. In the film “Where the Wild Things Are” Max’s sister ignores him, he feels his mothers new boyfriend is taking her from him and he is overall portrayed as a lonely, lost character. Max is told by his mother that he has gone out of control, which essentially is the last straw in initiating him to run away to where he eventually ends up where the wild things are. According to the article “Fantasy - Necessary for Sanity and Morality” in order for proper development, “A child needs to understand what is going on within his conscious self so that he can cope with that which goes on within his unconscious.” This can be attained by daydreaming through stories and scenarios to ...
Country music is historically rooted in the culture of the rural south United States, and while gaining mainstream radio play and involvement, this
Country music has recently become more radical. In the past country tunes were sluggish and slow, but a group of up and coming artists would revolutionize the music industry forever. These new artist did more for the southern/western genre than anyone in the past. They sold millions of record. Cumulatively they made billions of dollars! Artists had gigantic concerts that attracted hundreds of thousands of spectators. Their songs began to do something no country artist had done before… top the pop charts. The 1980’s brought forth some of the most dominant and influential country singers of all time, while seasoned veterans, who were previously successful in other decades, continued to create great music. In the 1990’s the money began to flow. Artists composed albums that went Diamond (sell over 10,000,000 units) and sold out stadiums. The “good time” singers of the 2000’s sang songs about love, drunkenness, and the party life. These topics appealed to regular folks and attracted new followers. Overall, this period of country music brought light to the genre and delivered great wealth to its artists.
Country is definitely not my first choice. I really don't like how the country singers all have the same voice style. They sound the exact same. Also, a lot of country songs are all about the same topic. With that and the voices sounding alike, it really makes the songs sound like they are constantly on repeat. The tempos are usually slow and not upbeat. That doesn't make me feel happy like the hip-hop songs do.
“Evidence-based practice is the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values” (ASHA). Staff of ASHA embarked upon the new idea of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in 2005. The goal of EBP is the integration of: clinical expertise/expert opinion, external scientific evidence, and client/patient/caregiver perspective to provide high-quality services reflecting the interests, values, needs, and choices of the individuals we serve (ASHA). The four steps of EBP include: framing the clinical question, finding the evidence to suppose the question, assessing the evidence, and making the clinical decision. Researchers have studied the status of current implementation of EBP in the field, challenges to implement EBP, the debate of adopting EBP framework in our field, and the use of EBP in SLP practice and EBP knowledge.
As parents, their goals are to always do what was best for us and to do anything and everything to help us reach our goals. When Max was behaving badly and causing havoc in the house, he was sent up into his room. He most likely felt a little confused and a little bothered by the way his mother yelled at him. Escaping to another world seemed to be the way that Max dealt with the situation. Just like Max, when we get frustrated or angry, we tend to have our own ways to escape. Whether it’s blasting music into your ears, or even punching walls, everyone has their way to cope with their current situations. Max realized that even though his mom yelled at him, he knew that his mom would always be supportive of him even when he was being a crazy
Pop music was contrived in the 1950s and 1960s, getting its style from many rock and roll superstars. Country music, however, was established in the 1920s, its style being influenced by the blues. In this day and age, modern pop is at its peak, being considered one of the most popular genres in America. Thirty years ago, nevertheless, country music was thought to be the favored genre among the two. Although many people admire both mainstream pop and old country, they are very distinct genres.
Hellerstein, (2008) express that rather more EBP, or Evidence-Based Practice, in this field of practice, there is much great necessity of more PBE, or Practice-Based Evidence, for more high-quality scientific evidence applied in our real-world´s settings, as in academic disciplines for better quality improvement in projects, integrated treatments, online technologies in patient´s education, training of providers and collecting more effective data. Hellerstein (2008) also explains that Evidence-Based Practice, EBP, needs more efficacy in actual practice today because is not completely adequate
Country music to-day is more and likely described on played on country radio stations and videos shown on television. People would sing about the country, their emotions, and about heartbreaks. When they would sing they would play guitars, banjos, fiddles, and pedal steel guitars; they got creative in the way they played and performed (Kallen 6). A man named Jimmie Rodgers was said to be the man who started country music (Kallen 19). Modern Country was said to come from the southern Appalachian Moun-tains, where settlers settled in the area of the American country side in parts of the Carolinas, Virginia, West Virgin-ia, Kentucky, and Tennessee in the mid 1700’s (Kallen 7). Folk music soon swept the country and became a remarkable phenomena of the 20th century. Which ended up making a whole new culture and today in New York the legacy continues (How Folk 11). Folk music culture in the 1950’s soon expanded (How Folk 2). To where the music not only let the people know about the way of their heritage, but later knocked down walls they never knew existed about the background about their family and culture (How Folk

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an approach based on scientific research. This approach tries to specify the way in which professionals try to make decisions based on empirical evidence, patient characteristics, situations, and preferences, while attempting to “eliminate risky practices in favor of those that have better outcomes” (Wikipedia, 2015). EBP is centered on evidence that shows improvement over other therapy approaches that are established by individual notions or unproven concepts. “Most EBPs have been studied in several large-scale clinical trials, involving thousands of patients and careful comparison of the effects of EBPs vs. other types of psychological treatments” (ABCT, 2015). This shows why EBP is considered the most “preferred
Country is one thing that reminds me of when I lived in Texas. Mostly all of the time they would play it on the radio or anywhere. Texas is one of my most favorite places that I lived. The most memorable time that i was listening to country is when I went to a radeo, when I was about seven years old. I remember on the loud speaker they played a song called Ring
I was a little hesitant about taking this class because I do not see myself as creative. However, I enjoyed taking this class and have learned so much and discovered I can be creative if I put my mind to it. I thought creative meant that you had to be able to draw, paint, and just have an eye for art. I also felt these skills had to be done perfectly because it would be more appealing to others. That was not the case in this class I learned that art should be open ended. This is the best way for children to learn. Children need to be exposed to the materials and not limited. They should be able to create what they want instead of something adult oriented. This is new for me because I thought parents would enjoy perfectly put together projects because they would be able to identify what the children was making and learning. However, they need to be educated on opened ended art through a newsletter or pamphlet. Explaining that we are coming away from doing traditional art but child center art where children art work is original because they are using their own mi...
