Did you know cottonmouths are the only aquatic snake in North America that are venomous? They have bites that can be deadly but are very rare. Cottonmouths are unique because of habitats, diets, and behavior that many people do not understand. Hhhhhh The cottonmouth is a venomous snake found in Texas and Virginia but mostly Florida. They can be found in swamps, marshes, drainage ditches, ponds, lakes, streams, and fields. They like to sun on branches, logs, and stones. Cottonmouths sun because they can easily be chilled by the water they swim in. Their diet consists of small gators, toads, fish, birds, bird eggs, snails, squirrels, chipmunks, small turtles, rabbits, and salamanders.
Firstly, with Hickory Hollow is the disappearing crayfish in Ribbon Cave. This problem, it seems, is the result of heavy metals found in the water. The heavy metals were found at the site of Ribbon Cave, as well as the northern portion of Aram Creek. We tested for heavy metals at well sites G, I, L, M, and S for heavy metals, with the only positives being well sites I and L. Nevertheless, this still confirmed our theory. The heavy metals found in the water have most likely resulted from Compara Corp’s hazardous waste spills, a problem that has occurred multiple times. The heavy metals found in the water being lead, tin, copper, and ammonia would then be highly probable. To fix this problem the answer is simple, “The answer, according to the agency and an outside expert, is twofold: treatment and dilution” (Pappas, 1). Treating the water is simple: the water needs the acidity to be reduced. After that is done, you must dilute the water (add water to the creek). However, the problems will never fully go away, but they will be greatly decreased. In conclusion, in order to save the lives of the crayfish, Hickory Hollow must treat Aram Creek in order to strip the heavy metals.
One of the five largest species of snakes in the world is now finding a home in the Florida Everglades. The Burmese python has a dark colored eye-catching patterned skin and is known for its calm and relaxed temperament. Because of the attractiveness of their skin pattern and docile nature, it is one of the large snakes of choice among reptile owners. Unfortunately, these snakes can reach huge lengths and weigh upwards of 200lbs making them difficult to keep. As carnivores, Burmese pythons kept as pets need a diet of small rodents or rabbits. This can get expensive and unsanitary. These non-venomous snakes are tricky to care for and often illegally released into the wild. This dumping, importation for the exotic pet trade, and escaped snakes from Hurricane Andrew is resulting in an established wild population of Burmese pythons in South Florida.
Dog has been “man’s best friend” for ages. Around Franklin County, almost everyone owns a dog. Since many owners are farmers, people in the Franklin County area need a dog who will be loyal, can herd livestock if need be, and is obedient to its master. The best breed of dog that fits this description is the Blue Heeler, also known as the Australian Cattle Dog. Though these dogs are better suited for the rural areas, many people in the city own them as well. Sprightly yet independent, the Australian Cattle Dogs are great companions for single people and families alike. Blue Heelers are the all-around best breed of dog in Franklin County.
Other large non-native snakes— such as the common boa (Boa constrictor), green anaconda (Eunectes murinus), yellow anaconda (Eunectes notaeus), and reticulated python (Python reticulatus)—have been observed in the wild in South Florida, but only Burmese pythons and common boas are known to be breeding. Burmese pythons were first reported as established in Everglades National Park (ENP) by Meshaka, based in part on specimens collected on the Main Park Road in the mid-1990s. Since then, the number of Burmese pythons captured or found dead in and around ENP has dramatically increased. From 2002 - 2005, 201 pythons were captured and removed or found dead.
Exotic snakes such as the python, boa constrictors and anaconda as well as the Monitor and Tegu lizard are taking over central and southern Florida and pose an extreme threat to the eco- system and to the families that are residing there.

The Channa Argus, also known as the Northern Snakehead, is currently an invasive species in parts of the United States. Its native range includes Korea, China, and Russia; specifically, the Amur River Basin. They primarily live in fresh aquatic water sources and thrive in the northern hemisphere due to the colder temperatures. They are commonly referred to as snakeheads because of their slim bodies and scaly head features (Fuller et al 2017).
The ocellaris clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) is also known as the common clownfish or false percula clownfish, and was named by Georges Cuvier in 1830. It belongs to the Amphiprion genus, which consists of 29 extant species. However, the subfamily Amphiprioninae also contains another genus, Premnas, which has a single member. They are closely related to damselfishes with which they create the Pomacentridae family. The ocellaris clownfish is oftentimes confused with A. percula, the orange clownfish, which is similar in colour and pattern, but has thicker black outlines, less dorsal spines.
waters. They have venomous spines that can be very painful. The Red Lionfish can be aggressive
They are not poisonous, instead they are constrictors, meaning they suffocate their prey before swallowing them whole. Most snakes leave their young to fend for themselves. Also, because they are constrictor, they don’t have fangs. Snakes don’t eat every day. They spend most most day sitting in the sun. A Burmese Python’s jaw can unhinge, so it can swallow things that are four to five times as large as its head. When It digests its food, its guts and everything needed for digestion grow. When the snake is done digesting, the system returns to its normal state.
A lionfish is a longstanding showstopper in a aquarius it's a flourishing invaded species in the united states southeast and caribbean coastal waters. This specie has a potential to harm reef ecosystem cause its a top predator . Sirenia: Trichechidae (the manatee) is a large, mostly herbivorous, aquatic mammal. Manatees are often referred to as “sea cows.” There are three recorded species of manatees: the Amazonian manatee “Trichechus inunguis,” the West Indian manatee “Trichechus manatus,” and the West African manatee “Trichechus senegalensis.” There is also the Trichechus pygmaeus (The dwarf manatee). This species has yet to be validated. I live in Florida where the manatee can be found throughout Florida’s abundant warm water locations. Manatees reside in warm water, shallow rivers, bays, estuaries and coastal waters. (Google, 2014)
Have you ever been struck by lightning? Did you know that your more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by a shark.
If one were asked what they thought the greatest evil of the world was, how would they answer? There’s murder, rape, abuse, and then there are wars, starvation, and sickness. Stealing a child of their innocence is an evil that has become much too common in our world. Albert Fish, however, did just that when he kidnapped and killed a ten year old girl.
