In so many ways there is a multitude of consequences of victimization. Victimization consequences can affect not only the victim and victimizer but also any person involved in their lives and even tax payers who end up paying the financial burdens that are connected to crimes and victims. We can divide these consequences into two broad categories, tangible and non tangible. We must understand that all of the “cost” of victimization are not financial, most are non-tangible and affect people to their core. The first and easiest grouping to discuss is the tangible consequences that are associated with the cost of victimization:
Property Damage and/or Loss: Any time a crime occurs that affects a victims physical property it is considered a cost. Even if it is covered by insurance we …show more content…

These coupled with potential prescriptions, rehabilitation and medical devices can really put a ton of finical strain on victims and their families. Also included in these expenses are legal costs for victims to recuperate money from their victimizer’s insurance companies.
Social Services via Police and Fire: The cost of first responders alone is astounding, but when you factor in follow up investigations and overtime, the bill for tax payers becomes huge. When we discussed how finical burdens can trickle down in many ways, one of those way is the first responders medical and insurance bills that can stack up do to being injured while responding to a crime or even the investigation afterwards.
School and Work Loss: Another consequence of victimization is the loss that schools and business can occur do to crime. In this grouping we can count loss wages, loss bonuses, and school days missed by victims. Even if a victim returns to work or school we can count the burden added onto coworkers or school
