“Football is an honest game. It’s true to life. It’s a game about sharing. Football is a team game. So is life.” by Joe Namath. Football is a sport that brings many people together. It brings family together and tears them apart in the worst way. Players understand the consequences of playing the sport football. Players don’t just play football for the thrill, or the winning. Football teaches players about life, how to work together. Players even meet new people. Taking football away could really affect people, and their life. Football has been around for an average of one hundred and forty eight years. Its in history. Taking it away would not only hurt the players of the game but the viewers. Some people depend on football for many reasons. …show more content…
It has been around for almost one hundred and fifty years. If it wasn’t a problem then it isn’t a problem now. Yes, there are lots of consequences involving injuries but we have new technology. New ways of helping players when they are injured. New ways of making the sport safer. But it is causing many players to still be severely injured which is causing people to think that football is too dangerous. Taking away football from not only players but the viewers could do damage to this whole country. Family’s get together on sundays for “Football Sunday,’’ family’s bond and that’s not often anymore. They come together have dinner and watch football. Taking that away could really affect people and how much time they spend together. Most people are on their phones at family events which causes them to not be social. Football brings them off their phone and has them watch something interesting with their family. It’s obviously not my decision whether football stays or not, but in my opinion it should stay. And nothing you say could change that. Players know exactly what they are risking as soon as they join football. Maybe we should look at other sports that are promoting violence like boxing or UFC? Why is football the main concern? Because its most
America’s newfound favorite pastime, football, came from a bizarre chain of events. Football started when a soccer player got fed up with just kicking the ball, so he picked up the ball and ran to the goal. His actions of picking up the ball and running with it fathered a new European sport, rugby, which was soon brought over to American shores, and was altered slightly, the shape of the ball and a few other small rules. The sport became organized into a league and produced the NFL(National Football League). The NFL had a slow beginning, but has picked up popularity, currently having a 9 billion dollar yearly revenue. Playing football comes with great costs, including physical and mental health deterioration, plus the amount of time spent prepping before game day. Which can pose several questions, “Why suffer for a game, Is it worth the money? Is it worth the fame? How great is the cost?” I believe that football, should have stricter regulations for the treatment of injuries, along with informing players of just how devastating a concussion can be, along with the other major injuries that commonly occur while playing football.
Football, just another method to throw life away. Football is an extremely unsafe sport, yet it is glorified by several in the United States. A plethora of football players are impacted negatively by injuries that may occur just by playing an "innocent" little game of tackle football. It is necessary to consider all the dreadful outcomes that may happen before taking the chance to play. Young individuals shouldn't play tackle football due to the trauma it can cause to the brain, the injuries or occurrences that can lead to a harder life or even death, and it leaves the players to be less sharp in their old age. It is often thought that football is a harmless game for kids to enjoy. Nevertheless, the amount of health issues and injuries that can be caused by football is unbelievable and not worth the risk.
I am in favor that college football should not be banned. This sport is such a big part of many males, and a few females’ lives. This sport has caused many injuries, but so has baseball, basketball, or even cheerleading. Football provides many scholarships for young men who otherwise would not be able to afford college Also football teams gives individuals a sense of confidence, and a place they feel that belong. There are football players that get their encouragement to get up everyday, because of their love for this sport. Also a team is like your family. When I was on the dance team at my high school, a team feels as if they are your family. These are just a few reasons I feel that college football should not be banned.
-Football is bad for kids I do not agree with it.Kids and adults are getting consussions from left to right. That is why it needs to be banned. It gives them OCD(a brain diesae from hits to the head).Football is to agressive for young children to play.An injury could hurt them for life. Some kids may just get mad because he got broke. That kid may come back and hurt him on purpose.
Football is a game of adversity and emotion. People who have not played a sport or follow one closely don’t understand the emotion behind game. They think that football is just a game, but for those who are involved with the team don’t think so. All those horrendous hours of countless preparation are for something players and coaches love. About a few years ago, a football player at the collegiate level was told that he wouldn’t be able to play another down of football again due to his banged up h...
In fact it is more likely than not that player will get injured playing sports. Players suffer sprained ankles, bruises, broken bones and concussions. It is part of the game, an unfortunate likelihood. Sports in itself is dangerous and football is amongst the top of the list in terms of danger. It is up to the parents to decide whether or not it is a risk that they are willing to take. Does a boy channel the passion he inherited from his father to a different type of sport or activity? Does a parent pull their child form the sport because of the fear of injury? The fact remains that football needs changes to make it
...o be a major part of life; but the hopes are that many things about football are changed in order to make the sport safer for everyone.
Football, one of the most popular sports in the U.S., is also the most dangerous; it holds an astounding half a million injuries nationally due to the sheer violence and brute strength used against another player in the sport, and, although it is believed that these injuries can be prevented, there is nothing stopping another player from recklessly hurting another except their will-power, this is why football should be banned from high schools.
Changes can be made to try to make the sport safer, but as time goes on players will continue to get bigger and stronger, and we can’t change the fact that it is a full contact sport. Injuries will be inevitable, some will be minor and others can be fatal. Is a human life worth less than money or entertainment? Players risk the chance of a healthy future every time they step on the field. The human body is not made to take that continuous and ferocious impact game after game. Many players sell themselves short while putting their bodies in harm’s way which increases their probability of health complications down the road. If the violent aspect of the game is not addressed, it will negatively impact the future of players and the sport. Hopefully, the studies and research that is made public can somehow find a way to make the game safer for the players. Until that day comes, football is much too dangerous and not worth the
Football provides the American people an event to look forward to. It keeps people on the edges of their seats, wondering what will happen next. When football was first invented, people would not think it would turn into a professional sport. At its creation, their football gear was nothing but leather helmets, shoulder pads, pants, and boot like shoes. I think as of now, this sport will continue to grow in popularity as the years go by. Football will still be a major part of our culture in years to come due to the type of passion that never dies down, it is ubiquitous. The economics of the industry will grow, as well as the culture celebrating the sport, and the global impact will never cease to entertain the population.
Football is a very popular sport in The United States that has won over the heart of many. Yet, concerns about the detrimental effects it causes has arised. In Don Banks, What Price is Football?, he tells us how football should evolutionize into a safer sport for the safety of the players. I completely agree with Don, football is an extremely dangerous sport that has negative consequences such as brain trauma. As the sister of a football player, I constantly see my brother get hurt, come home with concussions and at one point a sprained neck. Football must add new safety precautions to help reduce the chance of injury. It is time to embrace the change to preserve the wonderful game. It truly saddens me when I hear that talented National
Recently, attention has been brought to American football players on the risks of football due to countless concussions and lifelong health problems caused by blows to the head and improper equipment, therefore, the requirements for the equipment should be updated. Not only has the National Football League been found guilty of not realizing it, but the doctors and sports trainers have also. Head trauma early in life can greatly affect you later down the road. Head trauma is nine times out of ten, not curable. Therefore, it is greatly life threatening. Although football is a great pastime sport, it comes with many risks and health issues.
In the United States some sports are dangerous for could hurt future. Football has become a national topic of if football is really dangerous for kids today. The national football league has put much pressure on pop Warner with a lot head injuries and deaths with people who had concussions while playing. Physical play gas suffered the brain after the effect years of playing football and resulting in suicide, violence. Kids shouldn't play football it has many risk factors while playing because head injuries, promotes violence, and depends on football for future devalues education.
From the early ages in history to the present day, sports have always been an important part of society. It teaches discipline, how to be a team player, how to interact with others and is a good source of physical activity. In specific, football utilizes all of these aspects of sports and it’s a great source of teaching self-restraint and perseverance. Some may say that football is a violent sport or it’s not beneficial in any way, but in reality it gives a person the basic tools needed not only for playing the game, but also how you interact with people in society.
Football is one of the three most popular sports in the United States. The modern game of football most likely originated from England (hornetfootball.org). Walter Camp, a football coach for Yale, is known as “the Father of American Football” because he made several changes to the game of football (historyoffootball.net). The first professional football league was established in 1920, and it was made popular because of the invention of the television. Football is a mixture of science and religion which can be proved in the science of football, the religious interpretation of football, and the players’ use of their religion.
