Cortina Peters appears to be a highly energetic and organized Clinical Director at the Orlando Recovery Center. She has a deep passion to help and empower individuals to reach their full potential in life. Her job entails the coordination of clinical care services in the capacity of a case manager for three rehabilitation centers in Orlando, Maitland, and Umatilla, Florida. Her responsibilities don’t come close to ending with ensuring that all of their clientele receive the care they need; she is also responsible for program content and management of the clinical staffs. Other responsibilities that fall under these major responsibilities include: (1) the recruitment, hiring, and firing and evaluating of master level clinicians, (2) the
Role models come in all shapes and sizes. In the epic poem The Odyssey, written by Homer, Odysseus faces many challenges in which he has to use certain traits of his to overcome his problems. Odysseus is a good role model because he is brave, intelligent, and unwavering.
In The Other Wes Moore, male figures, specifically male role models, play an important part both Wes Moores’ lives and and are eventually what make or break their futures.
To be able to influence a positive or negative light in someone’s life is what means to be a role model. Both the author and convict were born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. The two controversially named Wes Moore, were like each other until role models were introduced into their lives. There were many people that influence the author and convict to make their life choices. People like Captain T.Y Hilton, as a influence for the author and Tony for the convict. Role models and their capabilities to influence others actions are the reason that both Wes’ lives are different. I'll be explaining how these people influence their situations, starting by talking about the author role models first.
In a person’s life, one must overcome obstacles that have the potential to either negatively or positively impact their future. Whether it is a serious obstacle, such as being involved with drugs, or a minor obstacle, such as procrastinating an important essay for the night before it is due, the choices people make can influence the way they live their lives. In Wes Moore’s inspiring non-fiction book, The Other Wes Moore, two boys with the same name start off living a few blocks away from one another, but turn out to be completely different individuals. At first, they were both troublemakers, getting in trouble with the law. However, as time progressed, the author, Wes Moore, became a Rhodes scholar and quite successful, while the other Wes Moore was sentenced to life in prison. The difference between these two men was the surrounding influences that shaped their growth as people. In a person’s growth, the most important factors are a positive role model in a positive environment because a positive role model will provide the path to success and will aid that person in achieving prosperity.
In this vignette, the client and social worker begin a new session at the point where the last left off. Kirsten, a college student, has come to this private practice setting to discuss her experiences, fears, and difficulties with coming out, particularly after her previous coming out experiences. In the previous sessions, the worker and Kirsten have explored many themes revolving around coming out, her experience coming out to her neighbor, and Kirsten’s anxieties about talking with her sister. The role of the social worker in this vignette is to discuss possible options with Kirsten as she moves toward talking with her sister, engaging in role play Kirsten has requested, and exploring Kirsten’s feelings about the upcoming meeting with her
Imagine finding out your boyfriend is cheating on you with your best friend. Your best friend doesn’t tell you because she wants to save you from a heartbreak, but she wants you to forgive her for stabbing you in the back. You focus your negative energy into your work, only to be told you can’t accomplish anything on your own. Brooke Davis, a female character from One Tree Hill, and Blair Waldorf, a female character from Gossip Girl, are two women that went through these difficulties without giving up. Blair once said, “If you really want something, you don’t stop for anyone or anything until you get it.” Brooke and Blair go through many lessons throughout their life on the show, becoming positive role models for viewers. While Brooke Davis and Blair Waldorf live two completely different lifestyles, Brooke and Blair are both confident, forgiving, and resilient.

The most appropriate leadership style for Jenny’s situation is one that is fluid and ever changing based on the situation and/or needs of the individuals being lead. In path-goal theory, the intensity of interactions and the type of interactions are adjusted based on the goals of the outcome and the needs of the followers (Kelly, 2012). Because the skill level of nurses vary, the flow of the environment is disorganized, there are high turnover rates of staff, and the needs of the patients are complex it is best to implement actions based on the varying needs of the department and its nurses. Path-goal theory utilizes four leadership styles that are dependent on the needs of the follower in an attempt to build a cohesive team that are motivated by feeling they are capable of doing the work, knowing what they contribute to the organization will help to accomplish its goals, and by believing their efforts are appreciated and meaningful (Kelly,
This lecture is beneficial for students interested in a career in health care. Patients with mental and substance abuse disorders may die sooner than the average person from untreated and preventable chronic illnesses. Patients can benefit from integrated care. It’s considered the most effective approach to caring for people with multiple healthcare needs. From Dr. Rodriguez’s lecture, I learned the different levels of care. I learned that the need of the patient will determine their individual level of care. I also learned that integrated care basically means that our community must have behavioral health services within primary care settings. Clinical psychologists like Dr. Rodriguez, usually don’t work alone. They work alongside other behavioral and medical fields. Working together as a team is crucial. I also learned some of the body reactions when experiencing a high level of stress. During a stressful event, a person may have an increase of blood pressure, and muscle tension. Soon after a stressful event, a person’s pulse will start to
I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position within a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, “Maybe now I come across as a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words to get my point across.”

Athlets have been lookd up to as role models for as long as sports have exsted. There is just something attractive about the thought of being in good physical condition and being talented in sports. But, are athlets the kind of people that children should be looking up to for direction and guidance? Many children often look up to the professional athletes as role models. In fact, in 1995 Sports Illustrated for Kids did a survey for kids who were ages 7 through 12 about who their role model was. The majority of the kids answered that a professional athlete was who they most looked up to. Only four percent of the children answered that their role model was one of thir parents. Because of today?s media, athletes are constantly in the public eye. Everything they do on and off of the playing field. Some professional athletes speak a positive message through their fame by demonstrating constructive ideas such as teamwork and commitment while they are on the field. Even off of the playing field some athletes set a good example by visiting children in schools, going to hospitals, or even setting up foundations and organizations to help the ill and less fortunate people. However, other athletes are not as considerate to the fact that someone may be looking up to them, some athletes are not concerned about anything other than the sport they are getting paid to play and themselves. These athletes are the ones that propose questions over whether athletes should be considered role models or not. A role model can be defined as a person whose behavior, example or success is or can be emulated by others, especially young people. Who would want their child looking up to someone who has been convicted of domestic violence or has a drug addiction? It is an argument of opinion that cannot be settled.
Upon my exit from the Rehab Center, I consider my interaction with the patient who had spin my new world upside down. Thrown completely off guard, I realized two things: sickness can change people into something you, or even they, might not expect, and the second, I don't take things personal. No one wants to be sick or in the hospital by any means, and as a nurse student it is part of my education and professional obligation to hold my anxiety and disappointments of my patient’s odd behavior. Finally I promised to myself to deal with people at their worst, and always have positive attitude toward them and try to heal them back to their best.
