Imagine finding out your boyfriend is cheating on you with your best friend. Your best friend doesn’t tell you because she wants to save you from a heartbreak, but she wants you to forgive her for stabbing you in the back. You focus your negative energy into your work, only to be told you can’t accomplish anything on your own. Brooke Davis, a female character from One Tree Hill, and Blair Waldorf, a female character from Gossip Girl, are two women that went through these difficulties without giving up. Blair once said, “If you really want something, you don’t stop for anyone or anything until you get it.” Brooke and Blair go through many lessons throughout their life on the show, becoming positive role models for viewers. While Brooke Davis and Blair Waldorf live two completely different lifestyles, Brooke and Blair are both confident, forgiving, and resilient. Brooke is portrayed as a wild, popular high school girl that …show more content…
Brooke is constantly told she can’t achieve her goals, but she doesn’t let other people stop her. Brooke uses the negativity in her life to motivate herself. After being told by a professional in the clothing industry that she will never create her own line, Brooke says, “She said your chances are one in a million, and I said, maybe I'm that one. She said you're not. She was wrong, and whatever she thought she saw in me was wrong, because I am that one in a million.” Brooke creates her own clothing line and becomes a multimillionaire, all because she believed in herself and her work. Blair also has a great deal of self-confidence. Blair is told by a countless number of people she couldn’t take over her mother’s clothing company. Blair took the challenge and not only succeeded, but she made the company better. She told the women who doubted her, “Ladies you can give your tiny brains a rest. Once again the world has proven that anything you can do, I can do
Quote 1: "I didn’t have the answers to those questions, but what I did know was that I lived in a world that at any moment could erupt in fire. It was the sort of knowledge that kept you on your toes” (Walls 34).
Women nowadays are allowed to do everything that men can, but it was not always this way. In Geoffrey Trease’s Cue for Treason, Katherine Russell, a young lady in Elizabethan England plays the role of one of the protagonists who goes on an adventurous journey. Russell is a remarkable ambassador of equality for women because she is able, daring and intelligent.
Role models come in all shapes and sizes. In the epic poem The Odyssey, written by Homer, Odysseus faces many challenges in which he has to use certain traits of his to overcome his problems. Odysseus is a good role model because he is brave, intelligent, and unwavering.
They both throw in all different types of issues and past arguments that have never been resolved. Brooke attacks Gary for never taking her to the ballet, for playing too many video games, and for the lack of novelty in their relationship. She says “forget the ballet, we never go anywhere together.” She wants to have less predictability and more time to experience new things. When he reminds her that they went to a football game recently, she screams at him that she did not even want to go. She feels as though he is always controlling what they do, and that she always has to give up her own wants to please him. Instead of compromising and participating in activities that they both want to do, she feels that they always do whatever he wants. She tells him “I did that for you, how do you show up for me?” However, Gary had no idea that she felt this way because she never stands up to him and tells him. Her passive nature made it so she never shared her feelings with him in order to smooth away any conflict. This just made her bottle everything up until she eventually

Women, Race and Class is the prolific analysis of the women 's rights movement in the
The Life and Activism of Angela Davis. I chose to do this research paper on Angela Davis because of her numerous contributions to the advancement of civil rights as well as to the women’s rights movement. I have passionate beliefs regarding the oppression of women and people of racial minorities. I sought to learn from Davis’ ideology and propose solutions to these conflicts that pervade our society. As well, I hope to gain historical insight into her life and the civil rights movement of the 1960’s and 70’s.
Emma and Cher both abuse the power of wealth and become spoiled, socially dominating, and overly confident with themselves. However, they both feel very comfortable in this lifestyle because of their possessions and social status. Jane Austen secures Emma in the very first paragraph of her novel. She states, "Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to vex her" (Austen 1). Cher has everything a teenager could possibly want: her own jeep, an endless wardrobe, and amounts of money that seems to be collected from a money tree outside the backdoor.
Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, aunts, uncles, grandparents, pimps, prostitutes, straight people, gay people, lesbian people, Europeans, Asians, Indians, and Africans all have once thing in common: they are products of sexuality. Sexuality is the most common activity in the world, yet is considered taboo and “out of the norm” in modern society. Throughout history, people have been harassed, discriminated against, and shunned for their “sexuality”. One person who knows this all too well is activist and author, Angela Davis. From her experiences, Davis has analyzed the weakness of global society in order to propose intellectual theories on how to change the perspective of sexuality. This research paper will explore the discussions of Angela Davis to prove her determination to combat inequality in gender roles, sexuality, and sexual identity through feminism. I will give a brief biography of Davis in order for the readers to better understand her background, but the primary focus of this paper is the prison industry and its effect on female sexuality.
Hillary Clinton’s 2016 ad “Role Models” displayed running opponent Donald Trump saying derogatory and at some point even slanderous things throughout his campaign rally as children watch on. Making us ask ourselves is this the role model we want our children to look up to, and desire to be like especially those who have a dream to become presidents themselves as most kids do. This ad show may show a couple of distorted facts, but a mass majority hold to be true, Trumps says all this while being on video at his campaign rallies while visiting different states. The point is to show the way he is talking and how kids still take offense to it no matter what, and we shouldn’t allow this kind of talk out the mouth of a potential leader of the country.
The poem “We Real Cool” by Gwendolyn Brooks is a very interesting and clever writing piece. This poem open like a play, with the title, “The Pool Players. Seven at the Golden Shovel.” As we analysis the poem we understand that these seven pool players are at the Golden Shovel pool hall. As the word “Golden” reminds of us of money, sunshine, and youth, among other things. Its early summer, so it might be "Golden" outside, but we 're willing to bet it doesn 't look "Golden" inside the pool hall, which makes the name ironic. Nevertheless, the word "Shovel" is also an ironic word. As we associate shovels with hard, manual labor, which is one thing the seven pool players are definitely not doing. This is because they are lazy, and their tool of
Dr. Sally Ride is an icon that many women have looked up to, especially female astronauts. Sally Ride was the first American woman to take flight in a spacecraft, be a part of the NASA space program, advocate for women in the field of science and wrote her own books. So with these wonderful accomplishments, what led Sally Ride to become an influential role model? Well, Ride was born on May 26th, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are Dale Burdell Ride, a political science professor, and Carol Joyce Ride, a psychology counselor. From a very young age, Ride had shown great skill and talent in both tennis and her academics. With her parents’ encouragement, she worked hard and earned a tennis scholarship to Westlake High School for Girls.
... makes tons of money off of people’s insecurities. If you want to look like a model, here’s what the models are wearing. Your breasts are not the size you want and you don’t want implants, this miracle bra will help. Ever since I was in eighth grade, I have been obsessed with Taylor Swift. She has been my role model since I was thirteen. When you look at most singers today, they have to be singing about drugs or alcohol, using vulgar language, or performing half-dressed. You never see Taylor Swift doing anything that she would be ashamed of later in life. On the other hand, she has had many relationships that have lasted short time periods. At least, she is not getting married for 72 days or even 24 hours such Kim Kardashian or Britney Spears. This is why I chose to write a research paper on her.
