Corruptness Dooms The Manor Farm Napoleon once stated “Man is the only real enemy we have. Remove man from the scene, and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished for ever.” (Orwell 9) In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Napoleon and the animals all believe that humans are the root of all problems. Animal Farm, an allegorical story that symbolizes the Russian Revolution, which means that all the characters and battles represent the real people and events that lived and occurred during this time. Since Animal Farm is an allegory, extreme personification happens because the animals symbolize humans. With that said, the plot of Animal Farm revolves around all of the hardships that Napoleon caused throughout his leadership. One way Napoleon shows manipulation, happens when he threatens the animals about Jones coming back. With Squealer constantly saying, “surely you do not want Jones to come back” (Orwell 22). Napoleon is able to manipulate the animals by ordering squealer to scare them into following Napoleon. An additional piece of evidence where Napoleon proves to be manipulative is when he made the animals come forward and confess to crimes that they did not commit. Napoleon’s guards, the dogs, “tore the animals throats out”... and ”Napoleon demands whether any other animal has anything to confess too” (Orwell 84). When Napoleon demands that someone come forward, it made the animals scared. Thus, caused them to come forward and follow their fellow comrades. As a result of the fear tactics used by Napoleon, it proves him to be a very deceiving
