American political values Political values- ideas expressing the attitude of social groups as a whole, toward the needs of other social groups and of the whole of that society; Ideas that have a significance for political subjects When the subject of political values is brought up, the term “core values” often makes an appearance. Core values are the principles that govern and guide an organization or individual, E.g. What this entails is it allows groups with different ideas and values to exercise their guaranteed rights. However, this value is strange and slightly contradictive due to the nearly completely denying certain groups their political rights simply because the public dislikes them, such as supporters of terrorists, racists, etc… The American value of exceptionalism is one that is slightly reminiscent of patriotism. It is the belief that the reason we have acquired such a special position in the world is our successful growth as a nation. It is also the belief that our nation has grown to be some kind of a role model to other countries. This value also says that since our nation is so vast in terms of land, we can chase our dreams and achieve our goals because of the endless amounts of opportunities. To them the government restricts what they can and can’t do to a point that it disallows them the rights to do what they want to do. They only believe in self-governing, you could say that they condone anarchism. The second group, Populists, all agree that the government is a good thing until things get unequal. They promote equality and support any other group that is fighting for equality amongst the government and people. Most if not all dislike special privileges gifted to a certain groups of individuals or individual that result in unequal treatment. The third group, Conservatives, believe that the government should not promote equality, but should assert a moral guide for individuals to follow. They follow anything that is morally correct and combat anything that isn’t. Finally, the fourth group, Liberals, promotes governments that enforce all-around equality and governing but still leaves room for a pinch of individuality.
