Russia Election Scandal Trump’s election victory started controversy. Americans are thinking that Trump helped rig the election. The people are worried that this is not the only lie trump has told. The upset began with Hillary Clinton won the popular vote 64,223,958 to Trump’s 62,206,395, but Trump still won the presidency and 64 million americans are angry about it. Trump won do to the fact that he won the election votes 303 to Hillary’s 232. This forces us as Americans to be more strict in our elections and demands us to be more meticulous with the campaigning and privacy of the candidates. This gives an idea of government corruption and the Americans are terrified of it. With that being said, the Americans think that evidence leads to Russia …show more content…
“It is time for us to come together as one united people,” Trump said in a victory speech, following a concession call from Clinton at nearly 3 a.m. Eastern. “It’s time.” (Goldmacher and Schreckinger) The first argument that people had found was that Trump and Putin’s foreign policy intentions see eye to eye. Trump’s unwillingness to defend NATO allies, leaves an open road for Russia’s plan to take over the Ukraine. Following that last point, Trump’s campaign may have left the hackers a runway. Trump had taken a clearer cut connections to Russia. Adviser, Paul Manafort, consulted with Putin’s backed Ukraine Politicians. In Addition, The Washington Post reported at a news conference in Warsaw on thursday, that President Trump again cast doubt on the US Intelligence community's assignment that the Russian government tried to interview on the 2016 election by stealing files and disrupting voting systems is helped by the fact that government agencies involved with the probe relied in classified information to find the russian’s ability to meddle into the election. After a bombshell indictment of 37 pages by robert Mueller against the Russian internet research agency and it’s leader shit and affiliated provides considerable detail in the russian’s information in the Warfare targeting the American public during the elections. Regarding election day, Obama’s administration pointed out that the election was free and fair from a cyber security perspective. Later McCain, Schumer, Graham and Reed all spoke in the issue. A joint statement calling on the Congressional Republicans and Democrats need to work on cooperatively on securing future elections and stopping further cyber attacks. In addition, deep-seated political implications to data manipulation. The data in the servens if state election boards are an obvious target, in at least on US country in 2016 a hacker manipulated the voter data, though the issue was corrected before the election actually occured, the hackers could have done it again. Previously, Hasen describes Democrats as being the ones who want more people to have access to voting. Republicans, on the other hand, are painted as the ones who want stricter voter registration to preserve the integrity of elections. A problem with our voting system is we cannot be sure of the integrity, as in almost every election, there is some sort of fraud claim. Hasen looks into one of the main problems in our voting system; how we vote. Hasen discusses why different methods of electronic voting are present, what they intended to accomplish by implementing these systems, and the issues associated with
Edward Snowden’s National Security Agency(NSA) leaked affair brought attention to American Citizens causing many arguments. Some argue they trust their government and wouldn’t change a thing about being monitored while others argue that their privacy being invaded is unconstitutional, and as a society living in surveillance, Americans need to reform the ECPA Act, and tell Congress to pass The USA Freedom Act.
Perhaps the greatest threat that FPTP poses to democracy is the appalling discrepancy between election results and the actual percentage of votes cast for each political party. In the FPTP syste...
Everyday citizens often live unaware of their government’s inner workings. The knowing of political espionage is often too heavy of a subject to be inducted in conversation. True, prima facie, modest twists and turns of information may not be considered substantial, but this inconsideration leaves much to be uncontrolled. It is easy for political leaders to become power crazed, to not realize the massive implications that come of their actions. Only after all is said and done do the people actually realize their government is an opaque mask of deception. The Watergate Scandal substantially impacted Americans’ trust in their government.
The United States and Russia have been battling off pernicious factions menacing the stability of their democracies over the years. Russia has come a long way over the past century, enduring a number of different phases that have completely desecrated any power Russia may have had paralleled to the rest of the world. The United States, however, has been evolving into a prosperous world power that has led to new respect from many other nations. Both Russia and the United States have struggled in the past at maintaining a significant amount of cultural commitment to preservation of specific aspects of their respective democracies. Having a relatively new democracy, Russian citizens have different perceptions and expectations of government from those of United States citizens. With new liberties and freedoms, Russians are struggling to grasp the concept of capitalism and participation in government. In order to preserve strong features of democracy, such as the right to vote or freedom of speech, a country's constituents must respect and positively view their government. They must have faith in that the government is working for their best interests. Physically, the United States and Russia have been impacted greatly by their geography. Historically, the backgrounds of Russia and the United States are of stark contrast. Traditionally, Russians have a difficult time believing in the stability of their government as it has changed a number of times. Geography has had a profound influence on the Russian psyche. Russia is a land that lies open to invasion and the elements, for it possesses no major natural barriers. In the southeast, there are great plains that allow easy entrance to any would-be conquero...
It is important to not only know the two sides to the argument of a friend or foe, but to also know the facts as well. My goal in this paper is to present the facts without bias and to adequately portray the two sides of the argument. To give the full picture of Edward Snowden I must start with his role in the government. Edward Snowden never graduated from high school, nor did he graduate from community college (Yann 1). In 2003 he joined the U.S. Army briefly until he was discharged when he broke both his legs in a training accident (BBC 1).
The President of the United States is commonly referred to as the most powerful man in the world. The President is the head of the country which boasts the world’s largest economy, commander and chief of the most powerful military in the world, and has command authority over the largest active nuclear arsenal in the world. However, his power is not unlimited. Throughout the history of the United States, some presidents have attempted to go beyond the powers granted to them. Most of these attempts have ended in scandal. Regardless of whether these actions were for the good of the nation or for personal gain, laws must be obeyed. Otherwise the United States would become the same tyrannical government our forefathers fought to escape from.
The name “Watergate” is a term to describe a difficult web of political scandals between 1972 and 1974. This word refers to the Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C. On June 17, 1972, the “Watergate Burglars” broke into the Democratic Party’s National Committee offices.
The television show Scandal takes place in Washington, D.C and follows the life of crisis manager, Olivia Pope, while conveying the inner workings on the White House. The mastermind behind the show, Shonda Rhimes (“Shonda Rhimes, Scandal Creator and Executive Producer”), has created a show that is not only highly entertaining but also one that consistently involves several strong female characters. Scandal effectively challenges traditional female gender norms through the use of Olivia Pope 's decision not to marry and have kids, Quinn Perkins 's development as a hero, and Mellie Grant 's dominant personality.
The American government used to be able to keep the people in happy ignorance to the fact that they watch every move they make. After certain revelations of people like Edward Snowden, the public knows the extent of the government spying. On June 5, 2013 Edward Snowden leaked documents of the NSA to the Guardian (The Guardian 2). The whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed to the world how the American government collects information like cell phone metadata, Internet history, emails, location from phones, and more. President Obama labeled the man a traitor because he showed the world the illegal acts the NSA performs on US citizens (Service of Snowden 1). The government breached the people’s security, and now the people are afraid because everyone is aware of how the US disapproves of people who do not agree with their programs. Obama said that these programs find information about terrorists living in the US, but he has lit...
With the changing of times and technology, modern electoral politics have begun using touchscreen voting machines to cast votes. These machines fail ten percent of the time and voters have reported their choices change from one candidate to the other before their eyes (Thompson). With the technical knowledge and access to the software for these machines, one person could easily change the results. One team of state approved computer hackers took on the challenge of hacking these voting machines. They were able to breach the system of practically all California’s voting machines and change results or take control of system functions (Wildermuth). Therefore, in states using voting machines, computer hackers could be skewing the votes without any traceable
As the new digital era has risen so has a new way of voting; online voting. Even though online voting is more convenient, lower cost, and quicker it could also lead to hackers stealing an entire election or an entire part of the voting public left out. The vote and voice of those without access to computers, persons living in poverty or those without technology knowledge will be missed.
People want the freedom and empowerment to use technology, while being protected against malicious actions. Protection starts with awareness and education, the government needs to begin empirical goals around previous campaign successes. President Obama noted, “The government is bringing about unprecedented transparency and liability for Americans to take part in their democracy.” (Obama, 2009).
As a patriot of this great nation, what has been presented is of extreme if not grave concern. The challenges of cyberculture to our nation’s security have been revealed . To what extent our security has been breached is a matter of speculation but be informed that these breaches must be met with complete counter active success - failure to do so is not an option.
The internet, provided by many devices nowadays “provides everybody with identical technical capacities… publishing his or her personal views on a worldwide scale - and all of this at a minimum cost and effort, without any spatial restrictions” (Geser 9). “Until they became conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious” (Orwell), the internet is easily accessed by many people worldwide and can be easily hacked to find out important private information about anyone. Social networks especially, whose privacy systems have failed to protect their users from their ac...
