American Politics is a system that has many controversial points of views. Ideals differ based on people’s beliefs and experiences. Liberalism is based on the belief of equality and liberty. People who favor this ideal support any principle that provides its citizens with the freedom of their unalienable rights life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Conservatism on the other hand retains to traditional values and favors the economy. People who believe in the ideology of Liberalism support the belief of individuality that will provide its citizens with the ability to flourish to their full potential. They believe that the government should protect every individual yet they believe government itself can become a threat to our individuality …show more content…

They stand against abortion, and affirmative action in comparison to liberals. They support the death penalty, and they believe that the government should reduce the amount its citizens are taxed, the government should budget itself better and waste less. As stated “The most frequent concepts associated with conservatism, suggesting social and political equilibrium and identifying it with the aristocratic social order, are authority, tradition, traditional values, order, history, social and political hierarchy, aristocracy, status quo, custom, and organic social development” (Zoltan, p.11-24) In conclusion, liberalism and conservatism in contemporary American policy have adapted to the new issues of modern society however, they still stand to their original beliefs. Liberalism and Conservatism defer in great aspects for example, liberalism beliefs mostly favor us citizens of the United States regardless of race, religion, or economic stands.
