Concorde
The concorde. It was something that was never seen before, a jet that can get you to London to New York in under three hours. A supersonic mode of transportation that held four Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus engines and can break the speed of sound and go up to 1,350 mph. The success of the Concorde was short lived due to the cost of the upkeep. even though it is retired, the legacy it left behind is the start of bigger and better jets
The Concorde broke new ground when it had its maiden flight. This plane was far different then any other aircraft, People describes as‘spaceship’ looking. The time it would take you to cross the Atlantic was never seen or heard before. March 2nd 1969, The first concorde flight. Hundreds of reports gathered in Toulouse, France, to watch the first take off, even though this flight was very short, it was the first test and all the work that had been going on and the planning for year prior is paying off and finally it wanted to show the world about the future of aviation and transportation. The first commercial flight was from London-Heathrow to Bahrain on January 21st 1976. Many countries and airlines wanted a concorde to call their own. Out of all 26 concedes that were manufactured, 2 are owned by government and the rest are owned by Britsh Airways and Air France. This sound breaker of a plane could hold 100 passengers and 4 crew members. Typically this is a small amount of seats for a plane, The Airbus A330 (the largest commercial airplane) can hold up to 535 passengers which first flight was in 1987. The most traveled route by the Concorde was from New York, USA to London. Passengers will pay top dollar for this flight because the duration of ...

... as ‘cozy’ as blankets and pillows would be placed on you seat prior to the flight. At the front of the cabin on the wall behind first class, there was a digital altimeter for the passenger to watch the planes altitude and speed. The Concorde would reach a maximum climbing altitude of 55,000-60,000 feet. Passengers could see the curvature of the earth at this height. The Concorde had a design like no other aircraft. The Concorde had wings constructed so they would be attached, almost like a space shuttle would have. The Concorde also had a 'droop nose' which is basically a pointed nose that can maneuver up or down to assist landing. The Concorde was not all secuess. It started with structural issues, the the extreme speed at which the plane was flying there would be high amount of force that would take place during turns which distorted the airplanes structure.
The Hindenburg was a luxury airship, from nazi Germany. This "Titanic of the skies" (no pun intended) was destroyed by a flash fire in 1937 while landing in New Jersey after making its 10th transatlantic crossing. Thirty-five of the 97 people aboard and one ground crew member were killed when the blimp burst into flames and was rapidly consumed by the fire.
Wilbur Wright once said, “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space... on the infinite highway of the air.” He changed American culture forever when he made the first flight alongside his brother Orville. This invention would have an even greater impact on our culture than cars. Although cars are used every day in America, planes have had the largest impact on American culture. Without planes, our lives would be drastically different, but not in a good way. Airplanes had a major impact on military, commerce, and travel.
In the 1900's, transportation and weapons became important for the different wars that the United States were involved in. Planes were one of the most significant inventions in the 20th century. Being able to fly from place to place was a new lifestyle for America's military. In World War II, military planes were a huge part of the war, and without them, many things that happened, would not have happened. As America was getting involved with Japan, they needed a more powerful plane. That plane that they needed was known as the B-29 Superfortress. The B-29 had a greater impact on Japan than any other plane because of the amount of destroyed resources in Japan, the most destructive firebomb in history, and the dropping of the first atomic bomb.

The model T was Americas first successful and mass-produced automobile. The legacy of the Model T reveals its success and impact: The simple but effective Model T introduced new styles of manufacturing, created new industries and markets, changed the face of the country, became an essential element of the American Dream, and blurred the line between rich and poor, all of which created the American middle class, and forever changed the country.
The Kitty Hawk Flyer had a huge impact on America's military. The U.S. Smithsonian Institution describes the aircraft as "the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard" (Walt). Features that made the Flyer a notable success were its highly efficient propellers, which resulted from the Wrights' wind-tunnel tests and the marginal power that was delivered by their early "homebuilt" engines. The Wright brothers' planes attracted contracts from the armed forces; after the 1905 flying season, the U.S. Army Signal Corps contacted them, requesting an aircraft. All airplanes nowadays, both for commercial and military use, evolved from the Kitty Hawk Flyer. America's advanced aviation during
United Airlines aircraft have soared through the skies for more than 70 years. Initially used to transport U.S. mail, the planes soon took on a few adventurous passengers. In a matter of years, air travel was embraced by the general public, creating a demand for larger, faster, more luxurious aircraft.
The Airplane was first invented in 1903; it amazed everyone but never really took off because of how dangerous it still was. They used planes in WWI but they threw them aside. After WWI (around mid 1920’s) the Federal Government had the idea of airmail. This was readily accepted; instead of receiving mail in two weeks it would only take a couple of days. Soon after this, transporting people quickly caught on although only the upper-class people could afford it, it soon became accessible to almost everyone. (Inventions: Airplane)
Travelling at a speed twice that of sound might seem to be futuristic; however, this feat was already achieved almost 40 years ago by the world’s only supersonic passenger aircraft, the Concorde. Concorde brought a revolution in the aviation industry by operating transatlantic flights in less than four hours. The slick and elegant aircraft with one of the most sophisticated engineering was one of the most coveted aircraft of its time. However, this was all destined to end when Air France Flight 4590 was involved in a tragic disaster just outside the city of Paris on July 25, 2000. The crash killed 113 people, but more disastrous was its impact.

In 1952, the first production commercial jet airliner, the de Havilland Comet, began service for the British Overseas Airways Company (BOAC) (Pinto, 2015). More similar to todays modern jets than the Comet’s propeller-based contemporaries, the de Havilland Comet had four turbo-jet styled engines, back-facing wings, and a four wheel “bogie” style undercarriage (Wanhill, 2002). Initially, the de Havilland jets seemed to be sound aeronautics (Pinto, 2015). However, within the first few years of service, the fleet experienced multiple catastrophic failures within the first 30 minutes of flight, resulting in the deaths of 56 airline passengers (Wanhill, 2002). Following the second catastrophic event, the

Spitfire, the best fighter plane in the Battle of Britain and loved by many people. The spitfire was fast enough to take down several german planes before they could react to try and take down the spitfire. This was a great leap to germany and hitler’s downfall for WW2. Also the spitfire used to be the most popular model plane made. There are many more facts that will be in the next few paragraphs.
LET IT SNOW a holiday romance is a compilation novel comprising three separate stories that intertwine with one another. As each of them are stories in their own right, I faced a challenge as to how to review them. Although saying that they were a challenge, the same can be said for Maureen Johnson's short story, The Jubilee Express. A girl called Jubilee has parents obsessed with something called the Flobie Santa Village (I originally thought this was an actual thing in America, but it turns out it's something made just for this novel), so much so that her name comes from the Jubilee Hall in the village. Her parents are so obsessed that they are mistaken for mob at the department store. Jubilee is then sent on a train on Christmas Eve to Florida
The Concorde sometimes made special flights for its demonstration, for exhibit on airshows (Farnborough, Paris-LeBourget, MAKS, etc.) and other expositions, for taking part in parades and celebrations (as ex., of Zürich airport anniversary in 1998), for private charters (as ex., many times by President of Zaire Mobutu Sese Seko), for promo-advertising of companies (OKI, etc.), for Olympic torch relays (1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville), for observing of solar eclipse, etc.
