The sole concert performer was Anton Nel. The date of the performance was October 8th, 2017 at 4:00 PM. The concert lasted about an hour thirty minutes. The concert was located at Rainey Hall in Jessen Auditorium. The performer Anton Nel was a middle aged man. The audience was generally middle-aged to elderly. Nel is a very well known pianist who has taken his talents to several areas across the globe including Europe and Africa. He has received several awards including the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall. As a UT student, my ticket was free. The approximate size of the performance space in relation to our classroom was about double the size with about 322 seats. The performer was in the center of the stage with a fortepiano. The stage was completely empty besides the instrument and a bench for the musician. The whole audience was facing the performer. There were about 300 audience members. Anton Nel was highly interactive with the audience. Prior to him performing, Anton Nel introduced the fortepiano including the origins of the instrument and how it worked. He discussed how the fortepiano can sound different based on the touch of the musician. Before the three pieces he performed, he gave a little background on the pieces even including some comedy. The interaction between musician and audience was highly appropriate. In my opinion, this was one of the best parts of the concert. It allowed for the audience to connect to the performer. Since Anton Nel gave background information on the pieces it allowed for the audience to look for certain elements in the performance. I knew that this type of interaction was appropriate because it made sense to give a little background prior to performing so the audience knows what they are listening to and what to listen
The mood of the whole concert was very positive, emotional, and inspiring. In many of his pieces I could feel the emotions proclaimed in them. The whole atmosphere of this concert was very relaxing and peaceful. I could really tell throughout Pablo’s performance that he is very passionate about playing the cello. I also liked how Pablo would explain after each of the pieces the meaning behind them. I was very inspired by this whole entire concert and I really enjoyed hearing the cello being played
My hypothesis of this place was partially correct, but also was not correct at the same time. The reason it matched was that they were using it for the students to use for their performance, and the audience was able to have enough space to sit, however I was wrong because I did not anticipate the people who were going to misuse it. According to my observations, high school students who have that facility at their disposal are more likely to take it for granted and misuse the auditorium. However, there are also people that use it for what it was meant to be used for, so it continues to be used for public performances, making it a public place.
The final piece that was in the concert was a solo done by Julia Fischer. She performed Niccolo Paganini’s “Caprice NR. 2.” This piece sounded like Vivaldi’s which may be why I didn’t notice it was a different piece until I noticed the pause between pieces. It was also very amazing to see her handwork as she played the violin in the close-up it gave. I think what made me like this piece the most, and this entire concert was because of the violin. They’re naturally a quiet instrument but they’re also a very powerful instrument when played with
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
The theatre can hold up to 1500 and more people, so each performance is in front of a huge audience. Many members of the audience can watch from the grounds directly in front of the stage. Up to 3000 people can stand there to be exact.
During a musical performance many elements to be looked are not easily recognized by the average critic. A musical performance has multiple interactions taking place between the music, text, performers, audience, and space that all can contribute to a great performance. Overwhelming majority of the audience does not realize so much can be looked at during a single performance. At a performance by the University of Maryland Marching Band I was able to analyze the Musical Sound, Contexts of the Performance, and Interpretation of the Performance.
In conclusion, it was a very unique experience for me to attend this concert. It was my first time listening to music in a church. The music was wonderful and played brilliantly. I now realize how talented some of the women composers were throughout the history of music. The experience of listening to such wonderful music firsthand was an honor. I hope to attend one in the near future.
Lili Boulanger was born on August 21, 1983 to Raissa Mysheskaya, Russian princess, and Ernest Boulanger, French conservatoire teacher. She came from a musical background from her parents and grandparents. Lili’s mother was a professional singer, her father was a composer, grandfather was a musician, played the cello, and also her grandmother was professional singer. Her musical abilities were seen at age two and were encouraged to continue her musical education by her parents. Boulanger’s family was very involved with music once her father died when her was seventy-seven years old. Lili’s and her sister first lessons were from her mother then went on to study with eminent musicians. Lili could play many instruments including the harp, violin, cello, and piano.
...xcited to have this experience. Part of the drama of the concert at first is felt when the musicians come in and sit down and begin tuning up their instruments. I would not be able to comment on the performance of the orchestra. During the performance, I seen the audience were moving with the music, but I felt like that everyone seems knows more music than what I learned throughout this semester. After I went home and did some of the research on these music I finally understand why these people like to attend the orchestra concerto, it was because that every piece of music has a history behind it. The Los Angeles audience seemed to me to be people who know music and who will listen to something new in a respectful way. All the same, when the more familiar sounds of the last piece were heard, I could feel a little sense of relaxation and fun coming into the room.
I attended the Los Angeles Philharmonic classical music concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Friday 29 November 2013. The classical concert started at 8:00pm to the enjoyment of the huge audience that had been waiting for this amazing music extravaganza. Classical music concerts always offer magnificent entertainment and the audience in this concert was expectant to derive such entertainment or more. In attendance were Christian Zacharias who was the conductor and Martin Chalifour who was the LA Phil commanding Principal Concertmaster and Bach violin player. In readiness for the concert, I enjoyed a special dinner prepared for the audience. More specifically, LA Phil staffer introduced us to the evening classical concert amidst cheers from the audience. It was such a refreshing and joyous feeling to be part of this audience.
On November 16th, 2013, I attended a concert choir, fall choral concert. This event took place on the Wheaton College Campus, in the Edman Chapel at 7:30 pm. The chapel was well-lit, with long pews for the audience to be seated. The concert began with the audience looking up into a balcony, where the ensemble stood in neat rows. They watched the conductor, who stood on a stage in front of the audience, waiting for their cue.
The performance I attended for the concert critique was a senior recital for Teresa Norton and Tracey Barnes. They played violin and piano respectively. The concert was at Goranson Hall and I immediately felt a sense of closeness and intimacy due to the smaller size of the concert hall, which added to the sentimental value of such a special performance. They played a total of three pieces, which included Liebesleid by Fritz Kreisler, Terzetto in C Major, Op. 74 for Two Violins and Viola by Antonín Dvorák, and Sonata for Violin and Piano, No. 17 in C Major, K. 296 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Overall, I really enjoyed going to the concert and experiencing Idaho State’s music department.
On Thursday, 1 December 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in David Geffen Hall the New York Philharmonic performed four pieces. Bernard Langevin conducted the New York Philharmonic. Ying Fang was the special debut at the concert. On Saturday, 3 December 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in Carnegie Hall the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra performed four pieces. The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra did not have an official conductor, but they had special pianist Fazil Say (b. 1970) sometimes conduct them. Both concerts were based off the classical era because of its stylistic features. Many composers emerged during the eighteenth century.
In conclusion, the concert was really interesting and I enjoyed myself. In my opinion the two pieces that I really like in this concert, are Sounden Horn and Polonaise from Engine Onegin, the shift between the melodic lines and the element of beauty is what made me like it. In the future I would recommend it to my friends and I will not mind to go with them at all. This kind of music is the best to me by far.
Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E is one of the most famous pieces in the trumpet repertoire and one of Hummel’s most recognizable works. Hummel had a very close connection to Mozart and his works, which helped establish a foundation for Hummel’s compositional style. His studies and friendship were no doubt an influence in creating this masterpiece for the trumpet. When listening to Hummel’s concerto for trumpet, one can find direct references Mozart’s Don Giovanni and other works by Mozart. Although Mozart was only apart of Hummel’s life for a brief period of time, he left the largest impression on Hummel’s compositions and it is very apparent in the Trumpet Concerto in E.
